That's great you can do that I was hopelessly addicted to cigarettes for over 30 years and vaping did it for me . well it's been 30 minutes so far and all is good . I'm guessing I should start feeling it after a couple of hours .We shall see. Been vaping and off the butts for over five years so this should be interesting . Wish me luck.

Good luck! For me after 30 years cigarettes, I'm not planning on dropping vaping anytime soon. And unfortunately for me, going many hours without a nic hit is still painful.

I have the same issuse that you have with my in-laws they are very (conservative Christian) vaping is smoking to them and their is no difference at all. Sorry for the semantics but I have taken theology courses and put in a lot of time and study into that and most of their traditional view don't have much room according to there
Faith that view point is very misinformed and ignorant.

I just bring this up because most people draw conclusion from nurture/nature. Because they grew up seeing smoking as evil anything associated with it or close to it is also. However I think something they miss is that I could be addicted to nicotine, I could be killing myself more and more every day. I chose an option to get me away from that and it helped me quit and now it is a hobby. I chase flavor and clouds.

Good luck on whatever happens with you and your mom. Maybe take this time to educate you and your mom and separate it from all the lies the media is spinning.

Hi everyone, so my lame as$ is living with my parents for the summer between semesters and mom found out today that i vape.... of course she wants me to stop because of the many unknown side effects, but its my choice and will continue to do so if i please. But, she couldnt have said it less than a million times that "youre addicted to it. I can tell by your excuses". Well, i use 0mg, use it maybe every one or two days, and sure as hell dont feel addicted. So my question is, am i addicted to vaping or vaping as a hobby?(which raises another quaestion, is it a hobby or a habit?). Personally i love building and wicking my rda's and trying new flavors and When someone finds a new thing they like to do they pour their heart and money into it and really enjoy it. I just cant tell if its an addiction like she says, or if im addicted to the thought of it being hobby. I feel like i could drop it at anytime if i needed to, but i choose not to because i enjoy it.

Thoughts?

It doesn't sound your any more addicted to vaping than I am to cooking and baking.

I love baking, being in the kitchen is my happy place. I cook stuff just to give it away to people, nothing like an unexpected gift of homemade bread to brighten someone's day..

I own every imaginable kitchen gadget and whenever a new one comes out I would like to have it because it sounds cool and useful..

Am I a baking addict? Lol.. no.. so neither are you addicted to vaping. You found something you enjoy.. it's a hobby for you.

So enjoy your hobby.

It's up to you how to deal with your mom.

Have this conversation with your mother.

--- --- ---
" Thank you for your concern Mom, I know you love me and have my best interest at heart.
While you may not understand my attraction to, well, anything really I am an adult capable of making decisions for myself.
Mom I love you dearly, thank you for all of your sacrifices and all you've always done for me.
But, it is time for me to branch out on my own, pay for the roof over my head, food, utilities, phone, clothing, education / everything, like an adult."
--- --- ---

In other words, I suggest doing exactly as Mom wishes and avoid 'verbal scuffles' at all costs, unless you are ready willing & able to assume all costs of your life as you know it.

But that's just me.

Addiction is a word thrown around way too casually. I vape because I want to, I buy way too much gear and mess with my stuff a lot because I'm an enthusiast. If I was addicted I would be in debt swimming in mods and juice I never use, or vaping non stop even though I feel sick from too much nic.

The whole "we don't know enough yet" argument only means after 100 studies so far they haven't found anything wrong with them under real world conditions...

I was a tech nerd long before I started vaping, I knew ohm's law, I love working with electronics with my hands/repairing things on my own, I've been building/working on computers since windows 3.1...

It's definitely not just about the nicotine for me, I have several build platforms/tabs/ohm readers, a great tool set which I've personalized and so many mods/tanks/rda's most of which I use for different occasions or just to try builds on..

Am I addicted? Nope, Is it a habit? Nope, Is it a hobby? YES! Most Definitely, it's something I enjoy doing in my free time but if I wanted to I don't have to, many times I'll do another build not because my cotton is dirty or my coil is old just because I enjoy it..

Well I only lasted 5 hours. I'm definitely addicted to nicotine.

Five hours is still pretty good. After 3 hours or so I start getting a little antsy. Five hours and I'd be in the plane's bathroom stealth chain vaping. Still, it's been over a year and a half without a cigarette, so that's all I care about.

You are no more addicted to vaping 0mg than you would be addicted to chewing regular gum. There is a habit involved, but not an addiction. Tell your mom to stop being a drama queen. Don't drink to much iced tea around her, you might get labeled an addict again.

Exactly, some people are habitual sports enthusiasts and others can't stop playing video games. We do what boosts Serotonin in our brains. Like the old saying, "If it makes you happy and doesn't harm anyone, do it".

But remember, we were smokers, our addiction is different than a never smoker. In fact, a never smoker could possibly use nicotine and never become truly "addicted".

I decided early on that vaping was my new hobby. As I predicted when I started, it allowed me to quit cigarettes for good after 40 years of smoking. I knew the first day I vaped that it just might be the cure.

I have no plans to quit, but one day I might just get tired of it. Who knows the future? For now, it's one of my favorite hobbies.

Oh, you're absolutely right. I would go so far to day it's unlikely the average non-smoker would become addicted to nicotine through vaping. Which undermines the whole "save the children" chorus as kids could experiment with something they can easily stop when they grow bored with it. We are the unlucky ones who are stuck with this.

I was always jealous of people who could "social" smoke, have an occasional cigarette if they were out say having a drink (in the days you could still smoke in a bar) and not have another for a month. Me? One cigarette and I'm back to a pack and a half a day. I know as it's happened to me.
