Could you stop vaping whenever you want or use 0mg nicotine, or does it have a hold on you like cigarettes did?

There's a CRAP TON of grey area between this black and white.

I'm still an addict. Addiction never goes away.

But I'm NOWHERE NEAR where I was on cigarettes.

Smoked for 36 years. Definitely dependent. If I'm someplace I can't vape (rare, mostly airports and airplanes) I find myself jonesing badly after less than two hours and reaching for the nic gum; not much different in that respect than when I was smoking. I've tried vaping zero nic and get no satisfaction from it. I suppose I could try to wean my nic level down, but I have no real desire to do so.

Not really now...I enjoy it...but I dont need it. I am at 3 mg nic just because I like the certain bite it gives my juice. I can work all day and not really want to vape. I think the major withdrawls are from the thousands of other chemicals that are in cigarettes. If I am at home and bored I do tend to vape a lot but when Im working it never really crosses my mind.

I stopped smokng a year ago. I've considered trying to stop vaping but haven't tried. One motive to keep involved is supporting my brother. I got him started vaping a year ago but he only went to zero cigs 6 weeks ago. I want that to stick. If mixing at home is criminalized I'll have to consider stopping. I'm not buying commercial flavored eliquid and not paying any more smoking taxes.

If you mix and rebuild and don't buy things you don't need vaping is free. That's where I'm headed.

^Liked, except for this part:

I will not obey unjust, completely arbitrary laws that are essentially unenforceable anyway.

Vaping, yes. Nicotine, not really. I have smoked in the past but was never a "smoker" because cigarettes taste and smell terrible and they are terrible for you. I always liked the act of smoking and nicotine though. So I vape as a non smoker and use nicotine (6mg @ 50w usually). I feel I'm addicted to the act of vaping and flavors, nicotine not so much. Maybe mildly addicted but I can go all day and not "need" to vape. I could stop if I wanted to/ had to, but at this point I don't want to and don't have to so I'm going to vape.

It's a good question. One that I ask myself often... Can I quit vaping? I believe I can. Do I WANT to ? NOPE !! I'm down to only 1mg/ml nic now, so it's basically darn near, almost zero - lol ! I take two mods/toppers to work every day. Puff this one, then puff that one, all through my day (12 hr days) Then I get home and bring 2-3 to the living room for tv watching and vape on them the rest of the night. I don't think it's the nic I'm addicted to now. Just the hand to mouth gestures and those lovely, lovely clouds and nice flavors !! Yeah, I'm addicted to vaping ! It's gonna get real interesting when the FDA gets all the rules and regs said and done. And not good interesting !!!

I was definitely dependent upon vaping when I first switched, it was in my hand almost every waking moment. I was trying to avoid that god awful feeling of "needing one" and luckily vaping was enough to hold that urgency off. It's been over two years now and I no longer fear feeling that desperate urgency, it doesn't happen when I'm not able to vape. There's no crawling out of my skin or climbing the walls urge like there was with smoking, I can put my vape down for hours at a time and feel no panic. I don't know if it's addiction that keeps me vaping, maybe it is. All I know is that I've always loved the activity of smoking, and now I enjoy vaping. If enjoyment is addiction then call me addicted I guess.

I truly believe that never smokers will not become addicted to nicotine. I think we that smoked had a switch switched to the on position and once switched on can not ever be turned totally to the off position. Those that never smoked will not have that switch switched on in the first place. JMHO

I just realized that this was off topic. Sorry  You were asking about vaping, not nicotine.
Exactly. They just get addicted to the hand to mouth fiddling part.

In some cases that might be true. 'Specially to the collectors but to the average vaporer I think the habit, that might form, will be fairly easy to break once the newness of the activity wears off. JMHO

You tell me if I am addicted to nicotine. I vape 30 minutes on the way into work. Around 9mg liquid @ 9 watts. I vape again on the way home, of course 30 minutes. That is an 8-10 hour day without vaping.

I vape after dinner around 3 minutes. It's cold outside now. Then maybe another 30 minutes before I go lay down.

Addicted? I say no. Not sure anyone really can define addiction. I drink those little mio's in water. I like it so I drink it. Am I addicted to them? My wife says so.

Could I do without? Probably. Why should I? I enjoy it to the point that I use it.

As with most "addicted to nicotine" threads you have your hardcore input.
Those that probably are very much addicted to nicotine.

They generally can't see past their own experiences.

And then you have those that just aren't addicted to nicotine much anymore, if at all, or even ever were.
They know very well who they are, just as I know for certain I am one of them.

Neither side is wrong really.
But one side is sometimes unable to see the other side, through no fault of their own.

I know a lot of people that like to drink alcohol.
But I know very few alcoholics.

I am defiantly addicted, I could not leave my ecig at home or not vape for a day (Well it's possible but it would be difficult)

What about you guys?

It is hard to walkaway from smokie, but not from vape.
Like you mention as well, ex-smoker myself as well. Needed to have that nicotine kick every few hours once.
But when started vaping, its a whole different ball game.
When I am at work, I time myself, every 2 hours I need to smoke. It became more of a habit.
When I have started vaping, I do the same as well, but sometimes even more, hahahahah. Its just fun.
On the other hand, I can even go without vaping for half a day even more.
So i guess, the addiction is no more there like how the analog ones gave which is a good sign i guess.
Vaping is just awesome, Everyday I would think, "Whoever was the founder of vape device, salute to him/her..!!!"

Just this past Saturday at was at an event for about five hours. Vapeing was not an option. I knew this going in, and just hoped for the best. I'm a former PAD smoker, back in those days I would have been running for an exit, or loosing my mind! I discovered Saturday it really wasn't all that bad. I regularly use 6mg, all day everyday. But during that five hours, I had occasional discomfort, but I could easily get my mind off it. Of course the second my mod and I were reunited it was pure heaven! :w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:
