I agree ... I bought a simple 1 button device and thought rebuilding coils would be hard ... then I read about the kayfun being was one of the easiest.

Simple and very easy indeed ... I watched 2 videos, then made my first coil in about 10mins at 1.8ohms.

This simple setup became my perfect vape setup ... now I vape for next to nothing.

I'd like to be in that camp, but I'm in the other... started Aug '13 - estimated I've spent over 2k on vaping - including everything from wicks, juice, mods, attys and everything in between. came out to about $6 a day or so... Got my Reo now.. time to back off and drop my daily vape spending rate..

Vape how you prefer I say!

this ^

i am quite unique in my habits also.

i vape;

~ 80 watts
@ 50mg
between 2% and 6% flavoring with flavors others use 10% to 20% and 1 drop per 10ml on flavors some people use 1 drop per 1ml. (which actually might help you like stronger setups if you're at all interested)

I have not been vaping all that long. In fact I just passed my five month mark. I have progressed in my vape style in a pretty common fashion. I started on a simple non adjustable battery (Kanger 1000mah) and mini kanger tank. I tried a MVP2 shortly after and got one right away. I also have a few Vision spinner 2's and got an Istick when they came out. The only battery I no longer use is the simple non adjustable Kanger battery, but I hold onto it as I have let other use to see if vaping is for them. I use mostly kanger tanks (aero and mini) but have an aspire nautilous, an itaste 30 and 30B (which I barely use any more), and a couple of aspire k1's. Well, the Holidays came around and I dove in a bit more. I got a Smok XPro BT50 and a kanger sub and I want to love it but I am not sure I do. I also got an Aspire sub ohm CF mod and a plume veil, but daughter took this over until she can afford her own so I am only talking about the kanger sub and Smok mod. What I am finding is that all the juices I have come to love, taste completely different in the kanger sub. I play with the wattage but find myself always wanting to turn it way down. I am using the stock .5 ohm heads. I have the air flow as open as it allows, but if I go much over 10 watts I feel like I want to choke and that the juice taste is almost too thick if that makes sense. The juices I am vaping are 3mg so I don't think that is it. Am I just a wussy? I like the nice puffy clouds I can make with my box mod and kanger sub but the taste is bowling me over and not in a good way. I keep finding myself grabbing my simple Spinners and regular Kanger Aero or my Eleaf/Kanger set up for the best taste for me. Am I alone in this? Is it strange to be using a sub coil with such low wattage (7.9 watts or 3.3 volts depending on how you wanna look at it) or should I just shut up and vape how it is good for me? Hahaha.

Simple and "Casual Vaper" here. My set-up is Vamo V6 + Aspire Nautilus 5ml both retro glass bottle and another stainless hollowed tank (I exclusively only use 2 kinds of e-juices Mxxlboro Lights and Mixed Fruits both 0 nicotine) This set up was my first set up as I made my research first before I got into Vaping. and Because I have been on Lights even when I WAS smoking... So I CAN handle 0% Nics... I'm more Addicted to "THROAT HITS" and making/playing with smoke. My addiction to smoking is more different than of the typical smoker. Mine is more in the "Mentality" and out of "Stubborness". I have long hair, I oil paint, write songs, Like I always say: "This is me... SMOKING" and have been me since a very long time ago... please don't try to change me... IF you change even my hair, smoking.. I don't like it. So, that's my excuse for being a Smoker for 30+ years. PS. I just shifted to vaping because the gadgets are nice lookin' and just got tired of the whole world tryna' rid smokiers... better yet they should imprison smokers (see my other thread about New No Smokings Laws update 2015)... pathetic.

Going back to the topic, You just be yourself, no need for you to be like somebody else. Your vape your freedom. you like spending more or vice-versa, theres no restrictions or quota to it only depends on how deep is your pocket. It's about feeling good and satisfied about it that counts. Peace out my friend.:toast:

The 1.2 ohm occ coil that also came with your subtank is an entirely different vaping experience than the .5 ohm.

I don't like hot vapor either, I know what you are saying. try the 1.2 @ 10 watts, 2 of the 3 air holes open. low nic juice. 3 is good.

machine oil.

did you wash/soak to get the machine oil out of the base?

also if you happen to burn some cotton in the replaceable head, its going to tend to taste burnt for a long time.

Jode, are you a mouth to lung hitter ?

I always forget if that is how you smoke a pipe or a cig. I vape like one would smoke a pipe or cigar mostly. I hold button a second or so, puff puff, then draw slowly into mouth. At this point I may inhale a bit (smoked for 38 years, kind of hard not too) and exhale through mouth and nose. Sometimes I do an airy draw direct inhale, depending on mood, vape and juice.

Sounds like its time for a Reo (reosmods.com) :) Not cheap but well worth the money IMO It seems like the cheap BFs are just that, CHEAP. I have no experience with anything but a Reo, but I do my research... and I did A LOT of it before dropping the money on a Reo. You can find them here on the classifieds some times, but good condition will only save you $20 and beat up may save you $50 or 60. They are simple mech mods, so you need to build safely and observe proper battery care.
I got one in December (as I said) and have not put the thing down... well except to sleep and type messages on ECF :) Gotta get some BF drippers though...

I will most likely get a BF eventually. I am a strong advocate for supporting local vape shops, so I prefer to buy through them if they ever get something like this in. See, even though I say in my op that I am finding the simpler vape to be my pref so far, I am so into trying new things. I have several in my life circle that vape so I know if I do not care for something somebody else will and if that falls through, my local vape shop has consignment.

My main vape is my Reo Grande LP, but I also have a Provari with several nice toppers. My wife, on the other hand is more than happy with her eGo twist and a kanger topper (although I do rebuild her coils with micro coils and she changes out the cotton every couple of days). I have offered to buy her *anything* she would like and she has tried all my devices. Nope, just wants her eGo twist and kanger tank.

Vape what works for you.

Yes. You are a wussy. Don't listen to these "feel good" guys saying "do what works for you." Don't "do what works for you", do what works for me! Damn it woman, stop being a candy@ss and amp it up until you are blowing steam like a faulty Three Mile Island reactor core!

Hahahaha, I needed that. Candy@ss, lol. I am gonna get a tat now that says 2 ohmed Candy@... Vaper, no clouds here. Hahahaha

Jode,
If you look at the coil head on the Atlantis it says 20 - 30 watts. That is what most ,5 coil builds are going to vapped at.
Maybe sub ohming is not for you ? get an Aspire 1.8 ohm BVC mini and be happy ?

This is exactly why I asked. I can't remember where I saw these guidelines but this information is what made me think I was doing something rather off. Maybe it isn't for me. The thing that strike me funny is that I do enjoy a .5 (dual 1 ohm coils) on the Aspire CF subohm in my Plume Veil. This taste nice to me and doesn't send me into a coughing fit. On the other hand if I bump my xpro BT50 with my Kanger sub ohm tank with stock .5 coils up to 30 watts with same juice (3mg) I feel like I could cough for days on top of feeling like my mouth is coated in the juice. What you are saying makes total sense until I put it into practice and that is where it falls apart for me. I feel like everybody else is getting some experience that I am just not getting. I have tried all the air settings and different inhale techniques and just can't seem to find a spot that I like that high with the kanger sub tank so I find myself bumping it down way low. I don't have a problem with being an odd bird in my ways, but I wanted to see if there was a problem with vaping a sub coil in this fashion. Maybe once I am out of the .5 heads I can just use up the prebuilt coils and then go on to build my own. Or I could pass on the .5 heads to another Kanger user and just build on it. I will experiment. I appreciate all the input I am getting here. At my local vape shop both guys, Max and Chris, are both incredibly patient and genuinely want to help people out but I hate to always bug them with my ......oddness, hahahaha.

I've got enough to do already yah know?
I have three iStick's and 8 v2s with various all VG flavors that I grab and use consistently the other stuff is gathering dust, and zero "fiddle factor", no charging or swapping of batteries, no building of coils, just grab and vape, Simplicity works for me.

to each their own truly with vaping, if it works for you, gives you a satisfying vape, and you don't smoke that's great and what it's all about, imo.

There's no "oddness" about it Jode :) well not to me at a least.

I'm the same. I know a lot of people recommend and say that building your own coils is simple; and it very well may be. But for me, I find it much more convenient to spend a few bucks every month on coils. I'm not knocking anyone, just my preference. I am very satisfied with my iStick and Nautilus Mini, I don't need anything more. To be honest, my setup is already a step down in convenience factor than pulling out a cig and lighting up (alright it's actually like 5 steps down lol!). But this has got me through almost 3 months of no cigarettes so I'm completely satisfied.

That's not to say though that if major improvements are made I won't jump on them. Such as the new iSticks with the better 510 connections. I can't wait to throw the ego adapter and beauty ring away haha
