I have an istick 40w mod with an aspire atlantis 2 tank with .5 ohm coils. I recently got some juice that is 85vg/15pg and oddly enough it seems thinner than my 70vg/30pg shop mixed juice... I saturated my coils like I normally do and let it sit for 10 minutes and got a burnt taste after the first pull.

After I take a pull I see like one little bubble come out... is it not wicking well enough because I get a subtle burnt taste.... is there something I need to do because I really want to use this liquid...

or is this all in my head because I am a complete noob?

I forgot to mention that I run my mod at 30 watts. So in your opinion my equipment is suitable and I'm not just vaping cotton?

The thing that makes me question it the most is I'm not using up as much juice as I did with the 70/30. I hardly notice any drop in level.
The equipment should be fine but you need to close off your Airflow a bit.

Turn down the power, that's the point of using a variable power output device. The ability to adjust power up/down.
Zapping a new head with 30w is a good way to buy & replace a bunch of them.

After the wicking material surrounding the coil burns there is nothing you can do to fix it, except replace the head.
Burnt wicking material will always have at least an off, odd, funky taste, occasionally you can get a vape or two from a burnt head before noticing the burnt taste return.

After properly priming a new / unused head always start off at a lower power & gradually work your way up.
This allows the head to 'break in' & prevents burning if it isn't fully saturated & wicking properly.

Dark or thick or colored and especially sweet liquids tend to wick slower, clog wicking material, gunk coils and burn easier.

Hmm. I can go 80VG in my nautilus even with no real problems... When you're priming are you just putting juice on the holes on the side of the coil? If so, try putting a couple drops straight down the middle from the top as well. Make sure that son of a ..... is soaked. Then totally shut the airflow and take a few long smooth drags without firing. And then do what's said above, start at the lowest setting that will produce any vapor and take several pulls. slowly open up the airflow and increase the power until it's doing what you want. Sometimes coils will wick anything right away and be good to go, but the next one in the pack will take 2-3ml of juice going through it to really get going.

As stated above - Soak your coils, not just the wicking sides. Excess can always be blown out.
I place several drops directly down the center, wait, add a few more. Then assemble and fill - let sit a bit. No power pull a couple of times to get an air bubble. Then start vaping.

* If you don't unravel the wicking you may not see the burn - right behind the coil wire.

Get it wet! :)

+1 to everything said. Wet the coil after you put it in the base, put some drops straight down into the cotton, into the side holes, until it looks ALL wet. Then assemble, fill, and wait 5-10 minutes. Just like it's said before, start out at like 10w, take a couple of hits and go up maybe 5 watts, couple more hits, and do that until you get to a setting where it tastes good.

No mods are specific for dripping or tanks, except faux hybrid mech mods. It's just user error. Take a deep breath, re-read everything and take your time with it.

Ah, my bad. When I had the Atlantis the vape shop guy told me he recommended around 70%VG max on it, though I had read of many who had no problems with higher VG. I stopped using mine short after and went into dripping, but on the few tanks that I had, priming them and working my way up slowly gave me a better tasting and longer lasting coil.

Maybe that's the problem.

When you change coil, or liquid, you need to adjust your mod to the best flavour.

Same thing here! I read about people using higher vg on it as well but it seems that I should probably just stick with 70 max so it's not overly complicated.
