With some of these sub-ohm coils you'll want to keep your tank topped off, or at least full enough so it'll keep the wicking holes totally covered with liquid. It might not wick fast enough with not enough juice in the tank.

Yes! I’m learning all these little “tricks” with this new kit. I don’t know who suggested it but inhaling without firing helps a lot to get better taste out of my next hit. So far I have almost 400 puffs and two days of not burning my coil and it tastes delicious. I’m not going over 47w though so I think that was key

beware guys, I believe it's one of you and she came here for revenge.
Don't look at me. I've never even been to Montana.
Wasn't me either. Never been to Montana. Never been to South America. Never been on the Tinder website.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I just looked at it better and the wires inside are black and burnt.

sweet juices will tend to gunk up a coil quickly (1 or 2 days) the black stuff on the wire isn't burnt, it's just gunky buildup

This! When I was into RBA I vaped flavored juice and the coils would need to be dry burned, dipped in water, burn ect each time I'd do a cotton replacement. The gunk on the coils made them look bad when in fact it was just flavored build up...

Now I vape plain ole vg/pg nic base and this is a coil after 3 weeks and about 250ml of juice through it. I replaced it today and snapped a photos...

Moral? The above coil was starting to give me burnt taste so I replaced it. Looks fine in the photo.. Don't judge a book by its cover. A clean looking coil may not be good and a mucky looking coil may not be bad...

I think it’s always important to test and keep track of what you do and what you’re using. I kept bringing my wattage up and that’s what burnt my coils. It’s been two days that I haven’t gone above 47w and it’s all good :)

I’m enjoying this learning how to use my new kit

Awesome! I saw you were thinking about a RBA, RTA ect.. If you go that route now or at some point in the future I'll offer up a tip.

When you replace the cotton (or whatever you use a wick) leave the bare coil on the mod and pulse it until it glows red. When it's glowing hot, dip it in a glass of water. Repeat this until all the junk is off the coil and do one last dry burn until all the water on the coil has dissipated.. After that rewick it and rock on..

I did this every time I replaced the wick. Coils will last longer doing this especially with some juices that cause lots of build up..

Wire is so cheap I can make a new coil way faster than dry burning it.

You got it now, just think of your watts settings, like a pot of water boiling over its to high, then turn it down to a simmer... similar thing happens with juice

Sure wire is cheap but why waste one that's performing fine and / or spend the time building another coil when it takes 30 seconds to clean an already installed one?

To each their own...

I didn't read the whole thread but don't assume it's strictly watt related. It could be to high of VG (it's thick) for the tank and / or coil you are using... It will vape fine for a while then it won't feed fast enough to keep the wick saturated which will result in burnt taste and fried coil.

I vape 70vg / 30pg and that combo feeds fine for my tanks and coils. If you are using a high VG based juice you might consider dropping it down...

My bad if that's already been discussed...

If you've found the sweet spot for your setup then cool beans and rock on!

It's quicker to clean coils than to make them. Though I myself threw 2 wire pools worth of coils when I first started. Lesson learned... Telling the girl to build coils when she's not there yet. And she sees all these messages below. I'm sure If I'm in her shoes, I'll just stick to what I know.

Agree that sweet juices gunk up quicker and when it starts to taste bad, it's hard to fix it, though not impossible. Also high wattage, and she might be in both situations.

Nah man, it takes me 10 seconds to make a coil, sit down for 10 mins and I have a enough to last me months

Altitude could be a consideration as well, don't know how much that really affects the viscosity of juice, but changes in altitude will have an effect on pressure in the tank. You're somewhere around 5k feet? Does that vary much when you are out and about? I'm sure there are some truckers on here that would know the problems you might experience with altitude and changes in altitude. Any vapers from Denver?

Can you YouTube building a coil in 10 seconds please? I'v been building them for years and can't do one even close to that..

Get build gear out
Build the coil
Assemble the coil onto RDA / RTA ect.
Test and adjust the coil for hotspots ect

Not worried about priming it as you'd have to do that with a any coil or an atomizer.....

All in 10 seconds? This I gotta see......YouTube it please!:D

I think all recommendations are valid :) we all like different things!

I just want something simple. Something that allows me to change flavors quite constantly. And also, something that won’t be super expensive to do!

Honestly if you want something that you can change flavors in on a whim regularly, then your need is an RDA.

Something like the GeekVape Ammit is perfect for restricted lung draw, is a reasonably inexpensive and certainly a way for you to save money because it's ridiculously cheap to make your own coils.

The only drawback is that you will have to learn how to build, and need to few items to get started.

But while building seems daunting it's far easier than you first imagine..far far easier. You only have to change out your coil every few months - you clean your coil and rewick once week or so.. it's quite simple really.

I said build the coil, not install it.

Coil building 101:

Cut wire
insert wire in coil jig
twist a few times

Whoa...I'm tired now

Well like I said... I've been building coils for years and can't do a complete build faster than it take to clean an already built one............

You said you can make a coil faster than cleaning one so snap, snap, get on that YT video please... :D

Clean coil:
Heat
dip
blow
Heat
dip
blow
Heat

20-30 seconds....

Make a new coil:

Get build gear out
Build the coil
Assemble the coil onto RDA / RTA ect.
Test and adjust the coil for hotspots ect

3-5 minutes if you are proficient..
