Am I getting new ECF ads, or do I have a virus?

For about a week (maybe more), when I visit ECF and click links, an additional page will open trying to sell me something ecig related, or wanting me to sign up for a FREE STARTER ecig. I don't come to ECF to get ads for junk, and whatever is causing it, is also slowing down my browsing experience. NOT having nearly as much enjoyment as previously.

Are these 'additional page openings with ads' a new feature of ECF, or do I have a spam virus?

I read the linked discussion, but couldn't find any add-on in my browser. So, I 'reset' Firefox...and so far, seems as if the problem has been resolved. THAT was irritating...but was a relief to know it was NOT caused by ECF.

Hmm, I run Google Chrome with pop-ups disabled and haven't had a single one...
