I received a starter kit of ProSmoke from my son for Christmas. I truly want to quit analogs and he thought this would be a step in the right direction. I read over their website and I think that the Medium strength of their e-juice cartridge that came with my kit is the problem. I can't get no satisfaction.

Reading over this forum I am considering jumping in head first and getting myself a Provari or something similar. My wants are to have a longer battery life, more juice .. maybe a tank ( I don't want to drip), as the cartridges I have are not lasting long enough.

I want to quit but at this point mechanically I don't want to deal with a lot of technical stuff. So much easier to jump in the car and go buy a pack of cigs :(

There is so much to digest, battery types, chargers that only work with certain batteries, cartomizers, drip tips, ... and on and on .. I just want a huge bowl of juice and to be able to smoke a lot. I wish they just made a complete system that wasn't so confusing.

Anyway, I think I will just keep reading and if my ADHD doesn't kick in, I will figure it all out

Not really. It only seems a bit overwhelming.

I use a very cheap box mod. It is 5volts and for the average smoker the batteries last about 8 hours. For me it is closer to 4-5 because I vape like mad.

The tanks I bought from madvapes work like a charm.

Inexpensive, fuss-free, reliable and it hits like a truck!

Congratulations and all the best!!

Hi HoneyPie, welcome to ECF! What a great gift from your son! You'll find that part of the 'journey' of vaping is 1) finding the right set-up that works for YOU, and 2) finding the right eliquid for your tastes. Stick around, there is a wealth of information here and a ready-made support group!

As far as diving head first toward a Provari, that is up to you. If simplicity is what you're after, the Provari might prove a bit challenging. There are however, plenty of folks here who use the Provari and would be more than willing to talk you through any issues you may have initially!

If you've got questions, ask away!

Welcome to ECF. If you want a great PV like the Provari, here's what I suggest...

1 x ProVari
2 x regular resistance atomizers to test flavors with
2 x boxes of regular resistance Boge 3.0ohm cartomizers that way you can run at all voltages on the PV
1 x drip tip which makes refilling cartomizers easier plus it keeps your lips off the heat of the carto tube
1 x cartomizer tank of your choice. Please keep in mind that the taller tanks will not accept the Boge cartomizers so if you go with a dual coil tank (dct), you will have to use the dual coil cartomizers (dcc's) in it unless you cut the tank down to fit the Boge.

I was just as confused as to what to get when I was looking and reading here a few weeks ago.

I ended up buying a ego 510 mega.

it is a large battery 1000mAh I have yet have had to change it in a day of vaping.

It does use a atomizor and a cartridge. But the both have been great. The cartrage hold about 150 drops which, in my estimate, is about 1 to 1 1/2 ml of eluquid. I may have to top it off once or twice a day. but that's not a problem for me.

This to me is a very easy ecig to use. I bought it as a starter kit, came with,

2 x 650mAh manual eGo Batteries (I opted for the 1000mAh batterys for $6 more)
2 x Atomizers
5 x Cartridges
1 x eGo USB Rapid Charger
1 x Wall to USB Adapter

so basically it is 2 ecigs

Thank you ;) Yes, there is SO much useful information here and lots of interesting alternatives, mods, devices, advices ... I think I will just take baby steps. My first step will be to get a stronger e juice to use in the ProSmoke kit my son gave me. I saw a video on YT that shows you how to refill the prosmoke cartridge with other juices. It was a thoughtful gift and I appreciate it, but prosmoke has a very proprietary system that as far as I can see is not modable. So going with a stronger juice may help until I have this all figured out. At least I have something to start with while I make my way through all the knowledge base here :)

You are right, it can be overwhelming. Keep reading and asking questions. I started with a 510 kit, 18 and 24mg cartos and I just wasn't satisfied. Today I started vaping with my new KGO ( a great deal from Hoosier ) with 24mg juice in a 1.7 ohm carto and I think I'm going to cut the nic level down! BTW I haven't had a analog for 16 hours - not bad for a 1.5 PAD 40+ year smoker!!!:vapor:

i'd start off with a KGO kit. 3.7volts, long battery life, and can accept a variety of vaping attachments (cartomisers/atomizers/tanks) etc.

since you're new, you'll probably go through the regular cycle of finding your flavor preferences. an atomizer is great for dripping and/or testing out flavors, since you only have to put in 2 or 3 drops and you can vape once or twice to get the flavor. after that you can then fill up a cartomizer to hold 30-120+ drops of something you like, then if you're sure, you can get one of those dual coil tanks that will hold up to 5 ml of juice for all day craziness.

the provari is nice, but it no fun when you're starting out and trying to figure out whether this juice tastes great at 3.7 or 5 o 6volts and then having to swap out atomizers/cartomizers for the appropriate voltages, or having to press the same button 5/6/7/8/9 times to get it into a certain mode (and then more times to start changing something), once you dial in what you're after then great, but then what's the point of having all those options once you figure out what you like, unless of course you like the idea of buying different things all teh time and experimenting, which is fine, but not for someone that just wants to vape for the sake of vaping. if you want a hobby, get a provari, if you want to vape, pick a voltage and go to town with it (3.7/5/6) there's cartomizers/atomizers) for each voltage set.

from what i gather, different types of voltages are for different types of juice, i.e. fruit/bakery juices i THINK are better with 3.7-4 volts (otherwise they taste more burned than anything), and tobacco flavors are beter with higher voltages.

also, don't try to replicate the taste of a cigarette, nothign really taste like them (fortunately many will say), but do open the doors to finding neat flavors, i hate grape flavored stuff in real life, but love grape ejuice, i never smoked menthols in real life, but like the clean flavor of it in juice. stuff like that. i'll never touch a tobacco flavored juice because i don't want to be reminded of tobacco.

Thank you. And yes, I don't want something that tastes like tobacco, I really didn't enjoy the taste. So far the chocolate cartridge I got with the ProSmoke kit was yummy but a little light on flavor. So I am looking forward to trying different flavors. Again, thank you for your input :)

that's also part of the issue sometimes with judging flavor, an ego tank type of system (the little self contained tanks that you pop into the open atomizer) will muffle a lot of the flavor out, whereas in a cartomizer (which delivers taste pretty much equivalent to a dripping atomizer) will bring out the full flavor that's in the juice. so don't dismiss a juice necessarily if what' you're working with is a cheaper gas station type of kit. save it for a retry with a different vaping element.

not to say the prosmoke is cheap/bad, i actually don't know anything about it, just saying, one device can make a flavor taste differently than another. again, voltages as well, in general though, juice/sweets taste better in the 3.4-4.5 range i believe.

another funny/stupid thing... when i was hunting for my flavors of choice and using an egoT tanks system, i had about 20 flavors/different sized bottles i didn't like all that much, weak flavor, off flavor, etc. so instead of trading them here (didn't think of that at the time) or throwing them out (can't pour money down the drain, i'm a tight wad) i mixed them all together. i had one full cup of a smelly/crazy looking mess :) mixed it all well, then poured it into a bunch of bottles and let it seep for about a month. came back to it, and was amazed on how good it tasted :)

of course if i had kept them seperate and tried them again once i discovered cartomisers, i'd have probably liked a lot of the original flavors, but it worked out okay so no loss.

so another thing, you can swap/buy a lot of flavors here in the swap thread from others that are trying things out for usually much cheaper than buying new bottles. you won't be able to start a new thread there though until you're either 300 posts, 1 year on here, or pay $24 for supporting member status, but you can always reply to existing threads there.

Hello,

I am looking for a good tank option for my Riva, which tank do you use? My Riva has a 510ish connector, but I have the adaptor to 801 and 901.

It's a bit confusing at first but soon you will be the one answering questions. Most important is to find what works for you. The provari is a big jump towards something you still are not sure that you like or will work for you. I am been vaping just over 2 years and I just got my provari 2 months ago.

When I quit the analogs I was more concerned about saving money so I started small and limited myself to half the amount that I normal would use on tobacco per month(loaded on a visa money card). This allowed me experiment with different set-ups plus it made it easy to track how mush i was spending on vading so I knew I was saving money. After a while I had a nice Amount of money on my card because there were some months the I did not buy anything but still set the money aside. To reward myself for being tobacco free for two years I ordered my provari( and I love it). Also at my two year mark I cut the amount that I loaded my card to $50(1/4 of what I spent on tobacco) per month. I also started really looking into DIY juice and rebulidable attys. Total amount I would of spent on tobacco in two years=about $4,800. Total amount spent on vaping in two years=just under $2,000.

Although the provari is a great investment that would save you money in the long run if you purchased it now, you really need to find what works for you and that is easier to do with cheaper mods. If you ar looking to try higher voltage I would suggest the roughstack from madvapes.

So take your time find what works for you and enjoy vaping. That's part of the fun of vaping.

HoneyPie,

I'd say go with something like this. I just did a couple of weeks ago and don't regret it at all. Except I got a Pig Cig - similar in function and simplicity.

Also, keep that ProSmoke your son gave you. It can be a great back up if you run into problems with your new PV. Or, you could give it to someone you love. Like your son did for you. Pay It Forward. : )
