A lifetime warantee on batteries would be easy actually. how many people would take the time to send it in and get a replacement rather than just pay 10 bucks or less for a new one and get it quicker. I, honestly, would get the replacement, but many people are not patient enough to bother with it, nor are many people paying enough attention to even realize that they have such a warrantee. I bet less than 5% of their customers who have had a faulty battery have actually called on them to replace it. It's just how people are... buy a new part rather than deal with the annoyance of a warrantee for something so cheap. Using a tire company as a comparison isn't fair because we're talking $100ish for a tire over $10 for a battery. And this community is so small, especially compared to drivers who need tires, that offering such a warantee probably doens't set them back at all, but instead propels them further ahead because of it.

Just my 2 cents from how I perceive marketing.

I agree to some extent. I have had a zillion "rebates" that i never bothered to send in that were far easier than sending back a battery. Likely a similar concept.

My biggest issue was the concept that batteries last or that the warranty has some relationship to the quality. Complete nonsense. There has never been made a battery that lasts long - ever. The technology does not yet exist. So any warranty made is on the presumption that you will not redeem it - or they get you on the front end in cost - or the back end. It likely has nothing to do with the actual quality of the battery - regardless of how it may appear.

Get a Joye (Joyetech) eGo kit (either 650mah, 750mah, 900mah, or 1000mah -- the higher the mah, the longer the battery will last before needing to be recharged) -- or a Riva or Tornado kit (which are generic eGos).

The battery life will be your first concern (at some point in your vaping experience, if not already). After a few days of charging batteries all day long, you won't care what the PV (personal vaporizer) looks like.

The eGo battery is the most popular and has the longest life of any of the standard e-cigs available currently.

Check out the following sites for prices and availability. Look for a starter kit that's priced around $30 to $65. Ask here if you have more questions. Read more threads in the Newbie Section here. A lot of people have given advice to a lot of newbies with the same questions.

I tried that model first; I wanted something sleeker, thinner, sexier.

After trying 6 different companies/models, I've finally settled on the long lasting sleek Sidesho from modernvapor.com; an expert here can lead you to the cartomizer that works with it if 3-pieces are too daunting. If you do try MV, wash atomizer in hot water, blow it out, pat dry before using.

I recommend minimum kits for trial purposes. I spent way too much money on trial and ERROR :)

Good luck!

I still have not figured out what the Sidesho is.... it is a slightly modified version of some model... perhaps the M401. No idea. I have looked on here and almost no mention of what it actually is. But make no mistake - it is something.

Here is a clue for newbs: If it doesn't say what model it is - it is RETAIL. Why is this fact? Because if you know the model - you will shop and compare. They aren't going to tell you. Period. They are selling you "Superman Rockstar 108" or some other nonsense. Is that what they are selling you? No. That is their name for it.

I am not saying that whatever modifications they have made aren't worth the extra price - they may be. But if you know the model it will be easier for you to decide that fact - or not.

Welcome Irish!
This is a place with a wealth of knowledge and having taken the route of buying before reading I can tell you that you will save yourself much money, time, and trouble if you educate yourself first.
The flavor thing is another big world ...and honestly, it is so vastly different for each one of us. This is that area where trial and error are pretty much the only way to find out what juices work for you. I recommend that you buy samplers until you find a few that you like and perhaps buy a couple of larger bottles of them. But after you quit analogs, your taste buds will change over time so that the flavors you like in the beginning may not be tasty down the road. One last item....I've also noticed that juices that are left to sit for a month or so also change in flavor. It seems that many of them become richer, more flavorful. Anyway....just a few cents worth.
Welcome to the ECF and I wish you well in your transition to vaping! I've been analog free for 2 months after 25 years!

Mr. Holliday speaks the truth here. A rose by any other name is still a rose--or a KR808. There may be stylistic changes (nothing wrong with that); there may be quality differences, in which case it's a safe bet they're not quality improvements; there certainly is a remarketing strategy in search of a psychological niche, and a price to pay for that--typically 100% or better of the actual value of the hardware. Which explains SmokeTips lifetime guarantee; they're getting it on the front end.

Flavors get much better after just a week of steeping, and leaving the cap off for 24 hours at the beginning will speed up the process. The color of the juice will become darker, too, the longer it steeps.

Is there a link that shows what model # is what, or what model works with what model?

I thought I had it figured out then I read about another. It gets very confusing. 801,402,ego,riva,901 etc etc. Just wondering if anyone (Modders....hint hint) have an excel spreadsheet or something that shows the specs on all the models.

One thing to remember, Redneck, is that the number (801, 808, 510, 901, 4081) refers to the type of threads at the end of the batteries. eGos, Rivas, Tornados, and many others have 510 threads. There are adapters available for all or most of these different threads. GoodProphets has them for .99 each, the lowest price I've found.

Sorry, I know of no chart, but there could be one somewhere. Here's an ECF thread you might want to read (found when searching Google for 808 801 901 510:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ask-veterans/59371-808-901-801-joye-510-bat-pass.html

Here's the Google link:
