Well I did it, I think, pretty much. I dry-burned all my coils.

One of them, when I "primed" it with a couple drops of juice, apparently got too wet, it's still gurgling, so I'll let it sit for awhile; that was an extra anyway, so it's no hardship to just leave it be for awhile. I discovered also that there wasn't a thing wrong with the ARO coil, I guess it just stayed wet after I had rinsed it out a few days ago, which was causing it to gurgle. After sitting for a few days, it was perfectly fine. Though I did replace the flavor wicks in it, they were kind of a mess, but otherwise that coil was pristine. And yeah, the 100% cotton flavor wicks do seem to give me more taste than those silica ones did. I used 3 strands of (boiled) 100% cotton that I got from the running-stitch edging on some 100% cotton washcloths, and in the ARO I used 4 strands.
I know my fear of doing this must seem ridiculous, but I am NOT mechanically inclined at all, unless you count the ability to screw up anything.

Even doing this, I was Ms. FumbleThumbs personified, knocking crap over, not being able to hang on to those little tiny wicks... *sigh* My hands shake a lot, and that makes it very difficult. That hand-shaking thing is why I stopped being the one to put stuff in my computer, cards and whatnot, and get my husband to do it, he's very steady. I REALLY! need some SHARP tiny scissors. But now that I think I get how to do this, it seemed to work anyway, maybe later I won't be so terrified of this idea of rebuilding things. But I still like the carto idea, NOTHING to rebuild or dry burn, just use it till it's toast, toss and replace.
At least now, I know I won't run out of functional coils before that pkg of 3 gets here. *whew*
