Am I the only one surprised that literally no one asks what the hell that contraption I'm smoking is?

I've only been vaping for 3 weeks now and have had quite a few "vaping encounters". First of all, I live in a very rural area, so rural that "rural" is in the name of the town  Just last evening I was at my step-daughter's chorus concert and stepped outside for a quick vape during intermission. After about three hits and the analog smokers seeing my little blue light illuminating, I was giving a brief primer to about 5 analog smokers very interested in my ecig. Fortuntely I had some vendor cards with me and passed them out. Hopefully I'll see some credit pop up on my account soon!!

Surprisingly I have yet to meet another vaper, especially at work. I teach at a major university and would think that ecigs being considered "progressive", I would run into one, but not yet. When I started vaping I asked the department head if there were any rules about vaping inside the building. She turned to me and asked, "What is vaping?" Well, I had to explain briefly and give a demonstration. I had a vanilla flavored juice in my PV and she remarked how pleasant a smell it was, kind of like an air freshener. She said she wasn't aware of any rules against it, but would look into it. Taking that as a "NO", I started vaping in my office between classes. I have had a few colleagues (who have a stick up their rectal orifices anyway) stop and ask in an accusatory, "What do you think you are doing???" with hands on hips glaring at me. I simply looked up and replied, "Paperwork". (First let me say I am the free spirit of the department and known for my off-beat sense of humor which some see as irreverent or disrespectful, mainly those that I mentioned about the stick :p ) A few got rather flustered and had to push it and ask about the "smoke". I replied, "What smoke?" (Secondly I must say here that if I get the chance to push someone's buttons, I won't hesitate ;) ) They say, "The smoke coming out of your mouth". "That's not smoke, it's vapor." Then I give the brief primer on ecigs... One of these "stick-carriers" went to the dean of the department and complained. Later that afternoon he came into my office and we chatted about vaping. He was an analog user and once again, I gave the brief primer on ecigs. He was very interested and I gave him one of my vendor cards and on the way out of my office he replied, "No worries about the vaping and ignore Dr."Stick", he's also .....ing about something or another. I even had a campus cop pull up beside me in the parking lot last week as I was vaping and looking at some papers before I entered the building. He said he'd been watching me for a few minutes and was curious as to what I was smoking and the device I was using to smoke it. (He thought I was smoking something illegal). So once again, I showed him my device, explained it wasn't smoke he saw and gave the brief primer on ecigs. I never thought when I went into teaching I would be giving lessons on ecigs

I'm not that self conscious about vaping in public, however, I don't vape in businesses or places where there's no smoking allowed, just seems to be a common courtesy to me. I've even looked into the state laws about vaping and it is not covered by any no smoking laws and, therefore, it's legal to vape wherever you want unless asked not to by the proprietor of the building or business.

Well, from almost nobody asking me what the Halo G6 was, things have done a 180 now that I have the eGo-C. Most people ask if it's an e-cig -- while they were sure the G6 was, the eGo leaves them wondering. One girl yesterday asked if it was an e-cigar, and a younger fella who 20 years ago would have been of the "grunge" counterculture asked if it was a pipe for smokin' that stuff we don't mention here. I've been happy to clarify for anyone who asks, but the frequency of people asking is definitely higher with the eGo.

I'd be cool with no one caring, but I don't think that's the case. Lots of people care a lot about their $120/month cable bill, or their $85/month cell phone bill, but these same people never question their $300+/month smoking bill.

Man that is so true! I have tried to get some folks I work with to try vaping and the first thing they complain about is the initial costs and then how much is the ejuice per month - how long do the attys, tanks etc last and how often do they have to buy them...I just ask them do they have a magic pack of cigs that never goes empty. Can't believe that they get crazy about an initial cost of $100 or less to get started...then maybe less than $50 a month - unless your like me and it becomes a hobby!

No one ever asks me about the REO I'm sucking on at work when I take a little break outside (work told me if I can take it outside and I'll respect it, it can get distracting and I can fill my small office with vapor in a day).

I overheard one guy asking the rest of the group he was with "What's that" but that's it and I don't mind keeping it that way. I'm usually the type of person to tell you how to build a boat when you ask me how to fish.

My doc thought it was a lollipop. I had taken a draw right before she came into the room. I showed it to her, and explained what it is. That its kept me from smoking since September. Very supportive.
Doing the "show-n-tell" thing with our doctors
and sharing our testimonies is soooo ... very important
to our movement.

Not just trying to educate our doctors ....
Doing the Show-N-Tell" with a vapor cloud
"Followed" by sharing our testimonies.

My doctor and my daughter's doctor now
suggests e-cigarettes to those who smoke.

I honestly can't wait for my kid's doc to ask me again if I still have my occasional cigar (that's how I started getting off the cigs) even though I NEVER smoked around them, it's the fact that it was still in my clothes. I've already loaded my brain up with as much info as he could ever need on vaping.

Yeah, I had something similar happen to me. Not too many people are aware of vaping.

I've gotten some funny looks (I either carry a 1000mAh ego Twist or my itaste SVD around with me), but only one person has asked me about it and I already knew him. I don't do the whole looking over my shoulders like I'm doing something wrong thing, though, so maybe that's why nobody has approached me about it. I am shocked that no one has said anything about my SVD when it has an 18650 battery in it, though lol. That thing is huge.

I've only been vaping for about 3 weeks, but I've been doing it in public the whole time....walking on the street, waiting at crosswalks, 15 minute smoke breaks outside my office in the general vicinity of other smokers, etc. (I haven't gone out with the smokers right outside a bar though.) I'm simply amazed that not a single person has asked me what the hell it is I'm smoking, --SNIP-2-SAVE--

Well Neo-Tech and the Carl Youngs in this world [Philosophers] was right, Most of us are walking around in a self made world/reality to the point of complete disconnection from the global collective unconscious. Example , Chasing a tornado for a local Meteorologist here in Tennessee, I witnessed a Woman (doesn't matter I have seen men do similar to this) in a Corvette driving along 45 miles per hour on a state road wile Putting on lipstick and talking on her cell phone wile she drove right into a full scale F3 tornado cyclone. Totally unconscious to the world around her.
This is a trend ever so rapidly increasing in percentage of the general public it's scarey. a few minutes later we got her to wake up from being knocked out, she asked "What the %$ll happened?" She had at least 3 minutes to stop turn around or steer clear of the twister but no she unknowingly drove right into it in plane view and had no idea what hit her. Welcome to the new generation is all I can say about this. The general populace is being shaped into humanoid tax paying clones oblivious to whats going on around them.
