After reading up on a lot of the politics surrounding the topic of vaping, I couldn't help but ask myself...
"Am I the problem?"

Lets put this out there,
I wasn't a smoker. I never smoked a cigarette in my life. I broke up with girlfriends who wanted to smoke around me all the time.
In my later years I learned to be a nicer person, and be more tolerant with people smoking around me, etc.. I eventually started smoking cigars with friends (which, lets be honest, are pretty much just big ... cigarettes... just less chemicals I guess..)

I wouldn't consider myself addicted or anything. I really just enjoyed watching smoke pillar out of my mouth and I grew to like the taste but I only smoked maybe 3-5 times a month...

Fast forward to now. I've picked up vaping. I am by no means addicted to it. But I do find that I vape alot. Mainly because its fun, it tastes good, and I can do it while working at my desk (couldn't have a cigar there in the past...). I certainly like the hobby. And for the most part, I never inhale.

For the most part I vape Zero Nic, but I have some lower nic juices laying around...

Long story short. It seems like one of the big topics in these political stand-offs is that no one seems to want non-smokers to pick up vaping.

I guess you could have labeled me as a "smoker" (I wouldn't have) but where do you all stand on this?

Am I part of the problem with vaping? A Non-Smoker, picking up a potently hazardous habit.

Assuming you aren't under 18, I don't see a problem.

Im 20, so alls good there:)

I think a big problem is the overreaction to nicotine. Low to moderate amounts of nicotine without all the additives you get from cigarettes, would actually do a lot of non-smokers good. Put it this way, it is better to have some in your system than none.

I know the relaxing qualities are nice, but what else good is it really? :)

Yes, you are part of the problem..... Just Joking. Doesn't seem to be a clear and concise answer to any potential concern when it comes to who should vape? Why someone should vape? Smoker or Non-smokers picking up vaping?

In my opinion, Vaping is a choice and should be a choice made by anyone that desires to do whatever they choose to in their life. I definitely agree that vaping should be restricted to individuals that are mature (18+) enough to make the best choices, maintain the ability to make knowledgeable and informed decisions to take up vaping, and maintain a safety conscious manner in use of both the ecigarette and eliquid.

Vaping is purely your choice and no-one should be able to dictate otherwise. Just my thoughts....

Besides the relaxation qualities, which nowadays it seems everyone can use.. It helps with various gastrointestinal issues, it is shown to possibly help prevent Alzheimer's, works as a preventative for various pregnancy complications, and more. A google search should bring up most of them with more detail. Wikipedia probably has a section devoted to it. I heard recently that it could be used as a safer treatment for ADD.

Go make a Doctor Who thread in the chat forum section area.

Very interesting. Well now I feel pretty good that I will vape some NIC juices. Its gone from a somewhat "guilty pleasure" to just a "pleasure"! :)

Im scared to make a Doctor Who thread. I dont wanna give any of season 7 away! Haha, but if everyone wants to talk about that, I guess I could start one! ;) (I just hate to piss people off haha)

You are not a problem at all my friend. You smoked cigars on occasion and you liked it, you gave vaping a try and you liked it no big deal here.

It's not like you are planning on taking up smoking or anything like that any time soon and you are sticking to 0 nic for the most part and that's a smart way to do it. I made a blog about a similar topic here if you check my blogs.

The only caution I would say is to remember that we still don't know what 20 years + of vaping will do and not doing anything is still health wise a better option for you. Not trying to be a downer, but I think it's important for anybody vaping to know the poop.

Welcome to the forums enjoy your stay and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Also you have a T.A.R.D.I.S. avatar and that means you probably rock :D

Yea, I've given the thought of how vaping over a number of years might effect people.

Im pretty sure we will find something wrong with it, but all I know is it makes me feel better to vape than it did to smoke a cigar! Haha, so it must be doing something right! :D

Also you spelled T.A.R.D.I.S as a abbreviation, which means you probably rock as well!

people are the problem, it looks like smoke so its bad. I had to go to the hospital once for my wife. when I went through the security station the cop there picked up my cheaper mod like it was a bomb. I explained what it was and she replied very snooty "you cant use that in here". I replied "yes I can".

Hence why vaping in public places will be banned.

As long as you're not a plant from the government or BT, then do whatever you want. Just be aware that nicotine is addictive, so if you're not doing it for the fix, it's probably best to just stick with zero nic juices.

I was a 20 year PAD smoker. Been vaping now as a non smoker for 3 weeks. I find it easy just to treat it as though others just see me as a smoker anyway. When in a public place, I'll go where the smokers go so I can vape. It raises less questions and I'm fine with it...although it's just the beginning of summer here. I may not have the same approach once winter hits...

Hey, I'm kind of in the same boat as you- kept seeing e-cigs passed around at parties, and although I was never really a smoker, I got really into vaping. Like you said, it's fun to tinker with all the gear that's out there, and it's fun to try all the different juices on the market. It's a hobby.

In the scenario you mentioned, it seems like people expect vaping to be a slippery slope into analog cigs. It's flawed logic IMO because I (and plenty of my friends who vape) picked it up because it keeps us away from analogs, and all of the bad things they bring with them, from health risks to terrible smells and even the political lobbies the tobacco industry supports. And seriously, once you've got a cool rig set up and some awesome juice in your tank, why would you ever want to switch to plain old low-tech ciggies? ;P

Don't guilt yourself over your vaping. You have as much of a right to it as anyone else. Just try to be a role model to the uneducated, practice good etiquette, and try to stick to 0mg so you don't accidentally get yourself hooked.

Very good way of putting it!

I guess for me I just would rather not be a problem and let the people who need it (ex-smokers) to have it, and not have me (non-smoker) have to have it taken away from them (because I am "showing signs of whatever").

That being said. Im still gonna vape! ;)
