Am I vaping/inhaling correctly?

So I see a lot of people have larrrgggeee amounts of vape without having any problems inhaling it. I seem to only be able to inhale very small amounts of vape or else I'll cough as it irritates my throat a bit.

I dont believe it's the PV because my roommate handles it fine. Every time I do it however, it I'll cough like crazy. I'll draw it with my mouth initially and not inhale (doing it for about 3 seconds) then try to inhale after I turn the PV off.

I allowed a friend to try my ego-t last week. he had previously switched to some other e-cig (not sure what, but I did not like his). He took a pull and about coughed himself to death. I have not had the issue.

I use the ego-t type B and will try to describe how I pull...please keep in mind that I am a noob as well.

Mine is a manual activation. I press the button and pull just a little into my mouth, more of a slight suck than an inhale, then release the button and stop sucking allowing the initial pull to be breathed in and also released through my nose. While releasing through my nose, I do an actual inhale (more of a breathe rather than a suck) that is a little longer of a pull, release the button then follow that with another slight suck. Not sure if this is the "correct" way or not, but I am getting a good amount of vapor (varies flavour to flavour) and a good amount of taste.

I am using mostly an 80/20 PG/VG mix and 16-18mg nicotine (depending on the vendor options)

What PV/ecig are you using?
Pre-filled or fill your own cartomizers or atomizer/cart?
What's the PG/VG content
If you're using juice which one at what mg?
How's the taste? Any burnt taste?

Pardon all the questions. Trying to rule stuff in/out

Ego-W. It's a tank system and I filled it with about 1.5mg georgia peach at darthvapers.
The PG/VG is 70/30 I believe and it tastes fine

oh and 16mg nicotene. I only smoked 5-7 cigs a day so I'm thinking it could be the nicotene content making it a very strong throat hit for me.

Everytime I actually try to breathe it in like a hookah (doing it slowly of course), I cough like crazy

I went through a spell of coughing when I vaped too, for about a week or so. During that time I did what you're doing and only inhaled small amounts. Then it stopped and has never come back.

I agree that it might have something to do with inhalation technique. When I first tried vaping a couple years ago I started with an automatic battery...activated by inhalation. It forced me to try to inhale directly into my lungs just to keep the thing going. Didn't work for me, and just caused me to cough up a lung every time. When I returned to vaping and switched to a manual battery I was able to replicate my normal "smoking" technique of drawing the vapor into my mouth first, then inhaling thereafter. Have your mom re-evaluate her smoking technique. Also, as others have stated, try various nicotine levels, as nicotine contributes to throat-hit (TH). The TH may be too harsh.

Let us know of your progess. Vaping is a new learning experience, but it does work once you find your groove.

Edit: Nevermind about "your mom." That was another poster.

By the way, welcome to the forum. :)
