Hey all.

Had a swollen taste bud on the one side of tongue, ouch! Redirected the vape stream(s), now I have 3 on that side ... triple-ouch!8-o

Have a sneaking suspicion that I may be intolerant to glycerin, because of one additional factor ... when I have seriously chapped skin and apply glycerin-containing cream, it hurts (needles) for a short while. You can imagine this prospect is frightening the pants offa me, as I was sure to have found a real alternative to the stink-sticks.

- should I try some VG-only juices?
- would you say I should weather this storm for at least a few weeks?
- is there a self-test I could apply to see if intolerant to glycerin? (don't mind scratching myself and rubbing some glycerin on)

(info: vaping for 12 days, ciga-likes/cartos , only 3 different flavors, all from same manufacturer, have been hydrating lots, use Tea tree mouthwash)

Have read posts/info on similar reactions + others ... so please forgive for another monkey asking the same questions, I'm just in a little panic right now

Thank you!

It could be a weird temporary thing as your body gets accustomed to vaping instead of smoking.
It could be an allergic reaction to either PG or VG (PG allergy more common) - so 100% VG is worth a try.
It could be something else that one vendor is using in their juices, so other juices are worth a try too...

Bottom line - be careful but experiment and it's VERY likely you'll find something that works for you!
Me, I was getting pimples on my face after switching to vaping, not HORRIBLE, but annoying - and it took MONTHS before it finally stopped happening...(I never determined if PG/VG had anything to do with it - I'm gonna chalk it up to cigarette poisons leaving my body).

GOOD LUCK!!

My mouth gave me terrible problems when I first started vaping. In fact I quit and went back to smokes for a couple weeks.
My gums became swollen, I had sores above and below my teeth and sores on the sides of my tongue.
It was awful.
I went to the dentist and he said it was odd, but could find nothing wrong...........no infection.
I went to the doc.............she said it was odd but could find nothing to treat.
I, too, used tea tree oil mouthwash. That made mine worse.
I finally found things to help:
1) I never vaped anything with malitol (or whatever that sweetner is that is spelled nearly like that)
2) I swished w/ baking soda and salt and warm water
3) when it got terrible I made a swish of liquid benedryl and Maalox and swished and spit 3 X a day (My grandma's old cure)
4)I found a bland non exotic flavor and only vaped it. (Sahara from v2, of all things)
5) I drank a LOT of water, cut down on coffee and my beloved diet coke
6) That was during April. by May 28 I was completely off smokes and could vape flavors that weren't too sweet. It was difficult and I tried a million things before I settled on the above. To this very minute if I feel anything at all funky in my mouth I go back to Sahara and brush and rinse w/ the soda/salt/warm water solution. I've yet to have a flare up again and it was worth it.
If it turns out you are not sensitive to the carriers it may very well be the artificial sweeteners.
Best

I'd try flavorless 100% PG and VG to see if either of those is the problem. If not then, it's likely the flavoring in whatever you are vaping. And, if eating foods with certain flavorings or colors added irritates your mouth then , I'd seriously be looking for those in the juice and, finding new juice.

I can't do artificial banana, so far can't find one that doesn't give me mouth sores and, some oranges and strawberry flavorings do it too, even in soda or candy.

As stated before, Glycerin is VG - Vegetable Glycerin.
I myself have a problem with it, there are many soaps and lotions that I can not use.
What %'s of pg/vg are you using?
I find that even with my glycerin intolerance I personally can still vape nic liquid with as much as 25% VG. Higher than that is when I get problems.
