The American Cancer Society should be ashamed of itself for telling the nation's vapers that cutting down significantly on smoking or quitting smoking entirely is bad for their health and that it doesn't promote improved health in the nation. But what they should be even more ashamed of is that their financial conflict of interest with Big Pharma, undisclosed in any of these articles, is shaping their public position and leading to advice that is going to substantially harm the public's health.

He sure has outdone himself. I stick by my statement in another thread. He needs a cape.

When I first read your post, I thought you were lumping LCFA in with ACS. A second look made me think you might be offering an alternative organization to support. It isn't clear in your post what your intention is.

I am not endorsing LCFA but I looked through their site and they seem to be doing good stuff, AND keeping their flaps shut about e-cigs. I have to respect that.

I was using LCFA's statement to underline that ACS (usually a fount of cancer research money) doesn't provide much when it comes to lung cancer. This was in the news a few years ago when, fairly close in time, Dana Reeves (Christopher's widow, and a lifelong non-smoker) and Peter Jennings (long-time ex-smoker, relapsed late in life) both died of lung cancer. Quit or die. Quit and die. Abstain and die.

I don't know enough about LCFA to endorse them, but I agree-- they certainly make a good case here.

I can't find the share button. Where is it?

Hmm... You're right. I don't see the Share control on his blog page. There's both a Share button and a Share item in the menu bar on my blog. It looks like Seibel's blog is running from the same engine as mine, but perhaps not.

In the alternative, you can use this link to go to the blog posting, click in the address bar and copy the text, and then past it into the "What's on your mind" field on Facebook.

I typed in some introductory text before I pasted in the link.

It isn't just the American Lung Association. The American Cancer Society, too, is not pleased with smoking abstinence unless we do it with the products sold by the pharmaceutical companies that provide huge donations to ACS. Read all about it on Dr. Siegel's blog. And then click that Share button. The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: IN MY VIEW: American Cancer Society Doesn't Want Smokers to Quit, Unless They Use Pharmaceutical Products
