I'll give you one guess which word in this post grabbed my attention as soon as the page loaded.:lol:

I had to go hunt up synonyms for "idiot" since the forum won't let us use the one for those who are more on than off. :D

This ACS FB quit smoking question is one of the most interesting things I've seen posted since finding ECF 2 years ago ... very nice find Painter

2300 positive vaping comments is nice .... however, I wish it would go viral :smokie:

can't wait to see if they will comment about how vapers are quitting smoking in massive numbers :vapor:

The problem here is that the ACS (and ALA, CDC, NIH, WHO...), at an institutional level, considers vaping to be the same thing as smoking. In their world, none of us have actually 'quit' smoking so long as we continue to vape. o_O
We know the difference quite well, but they don't get it at all.

Their report or press release on this (if it ever happens) will likely start with: "Even though many testimonials were provided by those who have switched to smoking electronic cigarettes...yada yada...etc..."

Thanks to everyone for signing though, even if it's just to mess with 'em a bit. :D

They *might* try to do just that. Trouble is, by just looking at the FB page, if they go hiding the vaping testimonials, there will only be a handful of testimonials left - which really account for the safe and *effective* methods they endorse...

I can't leave a comment due to my not having a Facebook account. I've had two, and have had both deleted. Some scary things happened both times.

Maybe you wouldn't want me to leave one anyway. I actually quit smoking over 4 years ago with the patch. My third attempt with the patch. I had tried cold turkey and gum as well, with no success. But that time on the patch worked.

Unfortunately, I would go on to learn that overcoming nicotine addiction and overcoming the urge to smoke were two different things.

How I discovered vaping and finally got over the urge to smoke is a story that I , ironically, cannot tell here, since the moderators here would delete it immediately.

I must say to the owners and moderators here--your reasons for that are misguided and counterproductive. Those of us on the other side of this struggle have won some serious legislative and regulatory victories. You can too, but we can't take up your banner without your participation.

It's so easy to turn the "for the children" thing on its head if you just find the right examples and go as public as possible with it. Of course, the media always loves a human interest story with a controversial twist.

I just looked at the page and the only one I saw that was congratulated by ACS was a guy who quit cold turkey. Guess they don't consider vapers to have quit.

I could not give one doodle-squat what they consider. *I* know I've been smoke-free for over a year, *I* know how much of a miracle that I never thought would happen that truly is, so their venal, self-serving, ignorant, and benighted opinion is of no importance whatsofreakingever.

This, I will not be participating in.

The short term results sound fantastic.

But we're dealing with a spin doctor on their own page.

Long term results there are sure to be a complete 180.

When you make a deal with the devil, you keep your end of the bargain.

Hence the commercials piped into cvs. Hence the signatures on the letter to the president from the "health organizations" urging him to force rule making towards stringent limitations for e-Cigarettes ASAP.

Etc.
