i would like to finish this thread, by installing a fully corrected illustration. rc10mike generously allowed me to use his macro pic of the reo's atty connector... :)

i would like to invite you all reonowties again to complete and / or correct wrong wording or to add something. if you have a second name for the same thing (e.g. drip well = catch cup), please bring it up.

1 -- drip well (aka catch cup)
2 -- atomizer connector with 4 notches for air flow & juice drainage
3 -- door
4 -- squonk hole
5 -- center post with juice hole (aka unsealed connector)
6 -- locking pin
7 -- power button

9 -- feed tube
10 - a cover (aka "the black box": feel free to open it, but carefully: ss-screw (hard) vs. alloy housing (soft)
11 - 2 door magnets in their cups
12 - positive battery contact (aka firing pin)
13 - bottle cap with o-ring inside
14 - spring and springretainer with screw

for you it might be kinda redundant thing, but for someone, who's mother language is not english, an illustrated guide is very helpful. i went through many threads, finding a lot of cool stuff about o-rings, tubes and parts like here

here in the Reo Measurements, Parts & Terminology - Thread

but exactly was missing (more also as a newbie): a simpel illustrated terminology / guide ... (i know there is half one for the Woodvil).

if anyone has suggestions about the layout or graphics, please add.

On the wood REO's I think it is the catch cup. On the metal REO's it would be the drip well. The purpose is to catch the drips that might come out of the atty if flooded.

Ok, now my curiosity is peaked.....Why shouldn't we EVER open the black box? If you tell me never, chances are I'm gonna do it ;). But really, I've HAD to get in there a few time for major cleaning. I've droped her in the sand and into a few other disgusting messes that required total disassembly. The first time was a PITA to get in and out of but it's easy once I figured out the trick.......Am I damaging something?

Am I damaging something?

don't think so. i have just learned, that the alloy housing of the reo grand is softer than the ss screw that holds the black box, so one has to screw it back in carefully.

the "don't-open-the-black-box"-thing is just a personal running gag of me (actually i haven't opened the black box yet...)

but what is a PITA ?

yes, the catch cup of the woodys is "attached" to the wooden body of the mods. the grand is different, because it's one piece and the design differs and looks more like a drip well.

anyway, people use different expressions for the same thing, therefore i collect them all... (remember - not all tech or small talk is illustrated... )

you may exhale!

[Not necessarily. It's just really super easy to strip the threading....so it's okay to open the black box...just really tricky for some getting it back together again. That is why I recommend using caution when doing this.]

Phew, ok thanks, glad I haven't hurt the girl........Yes, the firt time around scared me a bit, but I've gotten to know her so well it isn't a big deal anymore. You just have to know how to hold her properly when screwing the black box in, but I can see what you mean. The way Robert has made her is genius, IMHO there is so little that can actually go wrong i plan on using my Grand for the rest of my life. Really, how many things can you buy in this day and age that will out live you? And it's American Made to boot! My Grand PA would be so proud :)
