Dear Frequent Visitors,

One of the things that I've observed here (on ECF) is a relatively constant chatter regarding "The Best!". In an effort to prove a point, to myself mainly, I'd like to put a slightly different spin on this. Herein then lies my question.

Is there anyone out there who has purchased any of the following (intentionally listed alphabetically) but now regrets it?

  • BuzzPro
  • Darwin
  • ProVari
  • VMax

I realize that there are other great things out there too, but these four seem to be of primary focus when arguments occur. This is why I'm focusing on these, at least for the time being.

Here is what I do not want to know:
  • What you like about the one you have.
  • Why you think your's is better than the others.
  • What you don't like about the ones you didn't buy.
  • Anecdotal tales of what you've heard or read from someone other than yourself.
  • Other things you have tried but regretted (that's right Blu, I'm talking about you!).

This is truly a very simple question. Do you regret it, and if so, which was it and why?

I'll be honest; I'll fully expect the responses to sound somewhat like crickets chirping in the dead of night. But I remain open to all possibilities until which point the resounding silence deafens my ears.

Thank you (kindly),
The Author

Ok maybe I am borderline spamming with this comment but it looks lonely in here so I will put a nail in the coffin:) I do not think anyone regrets buying a VV mod that delivers more vapor than a mass prod EGO or a look alike, unless they got paid again the day after they ordered and with a little patience on the place you order now now button could have had two arrive the same day:) Just my take on it :vapor:

I t was really heavy and I had alot of trouble getting my stuff to fire on it even with a adapter. I mainly used ego t atty's and tanks then. I really hated all the clicking to get where you needed to be. I do have a original Buzz and a Buzz Pro which I love. No problems at all they just work and work well with no frills or hassles :)

I'll bite...

Well I had a Buzz when they first came out and had issues with just about everything. Granted Notcigs are the pioneers of Tube Style true VVs and like every ground breaking item it had issues. Notcigs was great and always quickly repaired it at no expense, but after a few months the ProVari debuted so I sold the Buzz. So I can't really speak about the current Buzz since mine was from 2 years ago.

The ProVari is a great device, a milspec build it is almost indestructible, great airflow, it has never let me down...not even once. A single battery device it has great airflow, not too tight, not too airy, a very accurate display, easy to use menu system, great button, 7 layers of protection, made in the USA, it has the ability to use either 18490 or 18650 batteries with extender cap enabling a longer or shorter form fit. Like Notcigs, Provape is a great company and give their customers the ability to upgrade, when upgrades are available (once so far) for a nominal price. A somewhat heavy device it also has the dual purpose ability to be used as a weapon...hehehe

The Darwin...pass..a little to expensive for this guy..what's the latest version...version 19 or something like that?

Vmax Version 2 Stainless Steel.....don't know about longevity, haven't had it long enough. A quick switch, good airflow, easy to use menu, a blue in-use background LED, solid 510 connector, and light weight design is very attractive. Of course I have only had it for 2 weeks so unlike the ProVari I question how long the end cap threads, switch and button will hold up. I don't have issues with stacked batteries as long as the batteries and unit have IC protection. Unfortunately the manufacturer is in China so upgrades and repairs will never be available. Outside of that the 800 e-fest batteries charge quickly (45 minutes) and outlast my AW IMR 18650 2000 mAh batt on the ProVari by 2 hours while rocking a 1.5 ohm DCC.

I'm going to add 2 that were unlisted to the mix

The Infinity Pro has worked well for me for over a year. The button isn't great, but it is reliable, the 510 connector is ok, but not as good as the ProVari or Vmax. It utilizes stacked 14430 batteries which are kind of a drag, but they last me a good 6-7 hours. Light weight, it has a hand friendly thin design and has served well as a back up to my ProVari until recently.

The Ego Twist is also new for me, I have had it for a couple of weeks and have to admit I am impressed. A proprietary 650 or 1,000 mAh battery (have both) it seems to last forever for it's size. Like the IPro it uses a dial adjust wheel but has an alignment mark and voltage numbers on the adjust wheel. If the Vmax is light weight, then the Twist is super light weight. Again, it's an Ego button so I'm betting the button will break before the life span of the battery is gone. Like all Egos I find the draw is a tad on the tight side, but nothing too terrible for $25-$30 dollars. Especially when you compare it to some of the plastic screw adjust box mods at those prices.

I guess if I had to rate them, granted some of them have not proven their longevity it would go:

ProVari - Rock Solid, great draw, unbreakable, easy to use menu, solid post
Vmax V2 - Light weight, great draw, blue in-use LED, easy to use menu, solid post, longevity???
Twist - Sleek, light weight, affordable, longevity???
Infinity Pro - Sleek, light weight, good draw, the post and button could be better, a good back-up until recently
Buzz (granted from 2 years ago) - Good draw, the rest is not applicable.

No regrets so far.....

How did I do? Did I win?

That's great, SnowDragon, thank you. I'll be honest, I'm hesitant to mark the BP as a Regret, given the age. However, since I did not specify that it my original query, I shall mark it, but note it accordingly.

So far, only two. 1 ProVari and 1 (maybe one-half, due to age) BuzzPro. More than zero but still far from significant, from an empirical/observational data perspective.

The waiting continues...

The only one I regret is not on your list.:) (And, btw, it's not a popular mod)

I went to a meet to check out mods/apvs and saw several including Buzz, Darwin and Provari. This was a wonderful trip and saved me a lot of $.

Darwin won. No regrets.

I hated the button on the Buzz.....and never got over it. No regrets for not buying.

(Several months later I acquired a Provari---despite my initial reaction to the weight and looks. No regrets.)

VMAX is just too new so not pouncing on it. I don't regret buying Lava Tube -- but, it almost makes that list. It just doesn't compare to my other mods---even low end ones. Part of the greatness of Provari and Darwin and Kicked Mods is consistency. Lava Tube scores very poorly in that regard -- and is more obvious to me than my non-regulated mods natural battery drain effect...despite all the hype. So, no new VV's for me for a bit.

If I may ask, strictly out of curiosity, which was the one you regretted that wasn't included in my initial poll? Information is a good thing. And subsequently, why?

And for the record, I'm with you 100% on the Lava. It was my first VV, and it served its purpose marvelously. I won't sell it (and I've had offers). No regrets for on that one either. But that's not a universal sentiment, as you appear to already know. "Good, not great", is the best way I can describe it.

Why, the second one would suck as bad as the first,,,but I digress

FYI - this is pretty funny. I must assume though that you are speaking either facetiously or without direct experience, as I've never heard anyone say that a Darwin sucked. So, the former, I presume?
