Hi all,

General newb here but was wondering about the Provari. Everyone with more than 4 or 5 days vaping has heard of it and everyone seems to want one and it's touted as the best PV on the market thus far........ But........ a few questions: A) is it really worth the money? (follow along and I'll ask why). B) What makes it better than a Lava Tube? C) Does anyone think a reversed engineered China product could have the same specs and features at a better price?

The REASON I'm asking is that I've found a Chinese product recently that has the same exact specs as a Provari V2 for an amount none of you would believe. I think they've done it to us again. These Chinese companies offer a service where, if you place an order over a certain amount, they will emboss your company logo on their product, making it appear it's your own product. Is Provari really made in the U.S.?

I only say this because a local supplier (remaining nameless) has purchased thousands of products from China and had their name embossed on the items and now tout them as having been created by their R&D department - which they don't have. They also sell Provari v2's at U.S. prices, but obviously, I don't trust that.

Back to the Provari. This Chinese company can provide a product with identical specs to the Provari v2 at about 1/6th the cost and can put whatever name you want on the item, provided you order enough units. I guess what I'm asking is this: The Provari unit is really just a fancy battery case (like a flashlight) with an intelligent head that can tell when the voltage is too low or there's a short. Sure, you can adjust the voltage, but it's really nothing else. Is it REALLY worth $159 dollars for a fancy flashlight holder?

Kill me if you must......

"A) is it really worth the money?"

That's up to the buyer, most who've actually used one would say yes and I agree.

"B) What makes it better than a Lava Tube?"

Overall Build Quality: It's built like a tank.

Dependability: I have confidence that out of everything I've used it'll be going when others aren't.

Performance: It does what it says it'll does and let's you know when it can't. As an example of your comparison to a Lavatube, if you adjust a Lavatube out of spec it'll keep on vaping but automatically reduce the voltage without any other feedback. If you adjust the Provari out of spec it'll tell you it's out of spec and won't vape until it's adjusted back into spec. With the Provari you're always vaping at the voltage you have set it at. With the Lavatube that might not be the case if you don't know it's limits ahead of time.

Support: If something does happen, support is among if not the best and they won't take advantage of the situation to get the issue resolved as fast as possible.

"C) Does anyone think a reversed engineered China product could have the same specs and features at a better price?"

If specs are all you're looking at check out the Vmax, it uses a 2 battery configuration and yes it has a higher amp and watt limit. Nothing in a one battery configuration yet where you could compare apples to apples.

The Lavatube is a nice APV for what it is, it's cheap variable voltage in a booster 1 battery config which most people seem to prefer for some reason but it does have limits and a rather strange way imo of handling those limits. If you know that ahead of time and do you're homework it should serve you well.

OMG....I just spewed coffee all over myself. Not kidding either. People are going to think I peed myself.

I have some replicas of my Provari and they are fine! That being said my Provari is my favorite PV.

Got a pic of those replicas? Or some spec differences? To be honest, I am SHOCKED there isn't a real knockoff yet. It makes me think the circuitry is complex enough to justify the price. To the best of my knowledge, the vmax is the closest anyone but provape has come.

Vmax operates on a very different principle. Only the outside design is similar.
And yeah, I don't think there's a replica out there. This whole thread is funny, since everyone is mentioning one, and no one seems to be able to give a link to it. On alibaba, there's a provari, and there are mods that are not a provari. But replica is no where to be found.
And it doesn't even make sense. If one could build a replica, that mod would sell well on its own anyway.

Maybe it's a lie --- but the Alibaba site does say this:

Produced and assembled in USA by ProVape Inc. USA - distribution from NI:CLARITY Switzerland

Its available for sale to a few non-US countries through Alibaba.

Minimum order is 50 pieces.

Could it be that Provape is distributing universally via Switzerland and Alibaba?

Maybe that's why there are so many recent attempts to cloning --- Provape has gone international in a bigger way?

Don't know. Just a different view of all this.

I sincerely doubt the OP is getting this device or the exact same specs as the Provari ---- but it sure might happen someday.

Sorry for so long in replying..........Been golfing for 2 days after falling asleep the other night.

Hey guys and gals.......I'm the OP here and just so everyone knows, I didn't say (I think) it was a Provari "knock-off". What I said was 'if it included all of the features/specs of the Provari' would it be acceptable to buy this thing at a significant savings? I may NOT have said so implicitly in my original posts but (now slightly more sober), that's what I meant. So I bought a few and we'll see what happens. I think I DID say I bought some Provari V2's off the internet - but that was just the Chinese label - I knew better.

Hammer me all you want for semantics or choice of words, but my original intent was to point out that a $159 device could be had for much cheaper. Is it better? Absolutely not. Is it AS good......well, they're getting close.

I won't get into the patriotic choice of choosing American products v.s. (insert your country here). I've already provided my background here.

I LIKE Provari - my best friend here has one and it's great. But......he also says the generic LT's/Provari look-alikes work just as good as his and he wished he'd have spent $100 less.

I still haven't received my order from China and I will NOT comment about them when I receive them primarily because of the backlash of stating my opinion. It's like religion or politics. And NO, I will NOT provide a link the the items I purchased. Why? Because I'll be opening up myself to a myriad of comments, (mostly negative), by pro Provari guys.

Provari is great, no doubt (+ American), but the (insert country here) have replicated our product and are selling it for much less. Initially, you think "I'll buy American", but that can only go on so long until you realize I've paid 4 times the price for a product that does the same for a cheaper price.

Kaye, send me some more flowers. I'll be golfing for the next few days and not replying to these posts. The comments I get are probably well deserved, but unanswered....

The Smoktech VMax smokes the competition...nuff said...carry on now :).

Yeah, Optimo, but I think we're having a cross-cultural mis-match here. I LOVE how everyone in the US names brand names that I could never get. I read the reviews, google the nomenclatures and find that they're called completely different things over here.

I can't even get Smoktech items over here without spending 3 x their price for customs and shipping.

If you think about it, all carto's/atomizers are really just a coil of wire that super-heats the battery voltage, i.e. a toaster element.

Regardless of manufacturer, super heat a coil of wire in a bath of juice and you get vapor. What makes Smoktech so much better than anyone else at turning a liquid into a gas?

Just askin......

Dude, acceptable? Everything is acceptable, its your money. What I'm saying is that you started a thread on some device you made up, and never provided a link to it.
Features/specs are:
- one battery combined with booster circuit
- stable voltage output readings from 2,9 to 6V
- 3,5A current limit
- stainless steel
- size (oh yeah, it matters)

Now, Provari has more features than those listed, but I'd be happy if you could find "100$" cheaper device that meets that listed above. Don't care where its made, or what its called. Give me a link where to buy it, and I'll send you that extra 100$.

The VMax has a 5 amp limit. (Provari has 3.5 limit. Lavatubes have 2.5-3 amp limit.) Which means it can push anything all the way to 6 volts without limiting the voltage. It has stellar battery life up to 1 and a half to 2 days of hardcore vaping depending on ohms of atty. It uses step down PWM which is very efficient and outputs alot of steady raw power.

Just got home from work and saw this thread. I did not want to disappoint Kay, so I will take my shot here. Craktskull, enjoy your golfing. I have no issues with you or your personal decisions. Also, Thanks for serving your country of origin!

I seems to me that Provari has become synonymous with variable voltage vaping in the "knock-off" world, and Lava Tube is just another version of the Provari. It is both strange and confusing to those who are not very familiar with either of the two mods. The confusion will certainly have impact on some consumers who are deliberating a purchase. I encourage all who are looking at one or both of these units to do their due diligence.

I own the best advanced personal vaporizer in the world, the Provari. That is my opinion! I also own a lava tube, ego, ego twist, and other assorted vaping tools, mostly made in China. They all have served well and continue to function for me under various circumstances (backup, stealth, travel, etc.) Personally, I would not even consider a knock-off of the Provari, but I am not as particular about my other units and have and will continue to consider knock-offs when purchasing. The exception will be when another manufacturer creates a new product as superior as the Provari.

There will be no flowers sent on my behalf.

Who do you think sold them to the Swiss company?

if they are truly genuine provape devices, then i guess they came from provape, one of the fine american companies to which i alluded. that wasn't my point, though. why would i order something from a different country when that product is already manufactured and distributed here in america? there's no reason to pay extra for shipping, customs or whatever when i can get it directly from provape and keep all my money here in our economy. right?
