Hi all,
General newb here but was wondering about the Provari. Everyone with more than 4 or 5 days vaping has heard of it and everyone seems to want one and it's touted as the best PV on the market thus far........ But........ a few questions: A) is it really worth the money? (follow along and I'll ask why). B) What makes it better than a Lava Tube? C) Does anyone think a reversed engineered China product could have the same specs and features at a better price?
The REASON I'm asking is that I've found a Chinese product recently that has the same exact specs as a Provari V2 for an amount none of you would believe. I think they've done it to us again. These Chinese companies offer a service where, if you place an order over a certain amount, they will emboss your company logo on their product, making it appear it's your own product. Is Provari really made in the U.S.?
I only say this because a local supplier (remaining nameless) has purchased thousands of products from China and had their name embossed on the items and now tout them as having been created by their R&D department - which they don't have. They also sell Provari v2's at U.S. prices, but obviously, I don't trust that.
Back to the Provari. This Chinese company can provide a product with identical specs to the Provari v2 at about 1/6th the cost and can put whatever name you want on the item, provided you order enough units. I guess what I'm asking is this: The Provari unit is really just a fancy battery case (like a flashlight) with an intelligent head that can tell when the voltage is too low or there's a short. Sure, you can adjust the voltage, but it's really nothing else. Is it REALLY worth $159 dollars for a fancy flashlight holder?
Kill me if you must......
"A) is it really worth the money?"
That's up to the buyer, most who've actually used one would say yes and I agree.
"B) What makes it better than a Lava Tube?"
Overall Build Quality: It's built like a tank.
Dependability: I have confidence that out of everything I've used it'll be going when others aren't.
Performance: It does what it says it'll does and let's you know when it can't. As an example of your comparison to a Lavatube, if you adjust a Lavatube out of spec it'll keep on vaping but automatically reduce the voltage without any other feedback. If you adjust the Provari out of spec it'll tell you it's out of spec and won't vape until it's adjusted back into spec. With the Provari you're always vaping at the voltage you have set it at. With the Lavatube that might not be the case if you don't know it's limits ahead of time.
Support: If something does happen, support is among if not the best and they won't take advantage of the situation to get the issue resolved as fast as possible.
"C) Does anyone think a reversed engineered China product could have the same specs and features at a better price?"
If specs are all you're looking at check out the Vmax, it uses a 2 battery configuration and yes it has a higher amp and watt limit. Nothing in a one battery configuration yet where you could compare apples to apples.
The Lavatube is a nice APV for what it is, it's cheap variable voltage in a booster 1 battery config which most people seem to prefer for some reason but it does have limits and a rather strange way imo of handling those limits. If you know that ahead of time and do you're homework it should serve you well.
