WoW!!! Just completed my Puck and fired it up with some vanilla cream 18mg... Sweet!!!! Lots dense, flavorful vapor... no aftertaste!! Some warmth but no burning.... I imagine it will only get better as the atty gets broken in!

This thing is AWESOME!!!! a whole new dimension in vaping!!!

Anyone who's thinking about making one and is on the fence... what are you waiting for!! It couldn't be more simple and worthwhile.... Go for it!!

Regards!!

Ahhh... another convert to the NiMh side :)

The mod is all I use. It enabled me to quit analogs. No need for regulators or other circuitry. Straightup batteries, switch and LED. Less things to go wrong. Less is Good!

Congratulations on your build! :)

Cool I wonder how long 4 AA Nihm would maintain a charge in one built out if the bigger radioshack boxes. Now I definitely have to try this, then I could pick up a set of LIons to and have all the power I need.

Then if I could get a link to directions to a link for a juicebox mod that feeds through the battery hole I could fit 3 or 4 10ml bottles of juice in the other half and use a spigot from USPlastics to automaticly switch flavours.

I got almost 3 days out of my 510 puck. It's so nice, my 510 batts are getting dusty.

Thanks again Mr. Puck!

I've built a few variations now.....

capecodjim-albums-pics-picture21291-all-mods-1.jpg

I hope you don't mind.... I took the liberty using the names "Pump-A-Puck" and "Suck-A-Puck"... but they're yours, not mine if you want them for future models... I'm just messing around while I should be working... there's no off position on the genius switch... lol

The pump bottle & Puck SD built in the 4AA box is the best so far. It's worth the extra size to have an internal juicer..... It's about all I use now.....

I have been using AA NiMH for a while now, since I converted a Weller soldering iron a while back. It works great and lasts a long time. So when I saw the Puck, I knew it would be great - especially since I already have the AAA batteries lying around.

I built one this evening - It is pretty KICK .... Nice design - makes me think of other box-combo possibilities. And they are CHEAP! I am so glad I ditched my eGo and turned to the DIY stuff - it is SO much more dependable than those little $80 "ladyfinger" PVs.

Just slapped together a Puck of my very own, with a twist! My first kit was a Smoore M401, and I've got loads of parts lying around for it. I also recently got a 510 eGo. In order to use everything I have, I put sockets on for both atty connections! I must say the M401 atty REALLY rips! Resistance tests out a hair over 3 ohms, so we shall see about the battery life, but frankly I don't give a d***!

Thanks for a great idea, Puck!

Another small added bonus...It sits upright even BETTER than my eGo! lol

I adore my Puck(that was built for me),I was coming on just to say how much. Be careful standing your Puck upright like that with a 901 atty. I did it a few times and the atty leaked right out of the bottom, into a nasty mess on the counter

Hey great work tiny!! I like the dual atty design. You should have put them closer together though..... it must be hard to get them both in your mouth at the same time!!

He he...yeah, bu I'm hoping not to need two at a time!

As far as leakage, I will keep an eye on it. I tried to seal the connectors, but you never know. That's another nice thing about this mod... If it were to leak, at least it would be localized by the battery lanes.

Next is some kind of wet mod...may borrow some ideas from you, capecodjim.

Sarah... were you dripping or using carts? My mod leaked through the 901 when it got flooded. I tried to blow it out the side hole w/o removing it and some got inside. I put a small piece of paper towel in there to absorb any more but it hasn't been a problem, especially when I learned not to flood it and to remove it for cleaning.

Hey tiny!! "We're all bozos on this bus..." Firesign Theater? There's a blast from the past!!

I've had good luck modding... I was planning on a bottom feed but ended up with the pump because I got the wrong bottle. Now I see no reason to change to anything else because it does what I want and I haven't found any drawbacks.

Alomost everything I've done is borrowed from somewhere here on the forum. Don't hesitate if I can assist your latest efforts. Take some pics along the way. Making one puck puts you way up the learning curve for mod making and experimenting and your next one will be much easier. (Puck, you've done a great service for wannabe modders and I salute you!)

If you don't mind the size, the 4 x AAA puck in a 4 x AA box with pump bottle is awesome and has been my main vape since it was born. The mini-pump is awesome also. Both are all day vape with no mess, no fuss, no leaks, pocket friendly, low maintenance...

I've been working on my Trekk mod trying to fit a bottle inside but I can't get it to work on one battery.... I followed the same procedures as someone else but with different results... back to the drawing board.... At least I didn't fry the circuit board like I thought I had....

The puck variants are my daily go to vapes!! I was shopping box mods like the Reo or Phidias etc... but see no reason to buy one now. My only missing mod requirement is a USB charger and that's in the works.

hey Puck.. the Puck-a-thon continues!! I imprinted on the puck as my first mod and want to call everything in a battery box a puck, even if it has none of the attributes...The 4 x AA variation was my latest real puck.... Glad I can vape up a storm with my collection of NiMH's!

Man, you all are coming up with some really great mods! I love the juice designs of capecodjim and the dual atomizer connector tinywjp made is also a great mod. I'm going to try these myself :)

Justboringsarah is correct about leakage when standing upright. I tend to overfill all of mine though :) I've just made it a habit of laying it down and never have the problem anymore but if I didn't put too much in, it may not happen as much. I really do overfill because sometimes I'm refilling in the mostly dark :)

Keep up the good work everyone. It's fantastic. This work you are doing will show people that there are regular store bought alternatives for a power source that works better than the original and lasts a long time. I could have never quit analogs if it wasn't for the greater voltage of the NiMhs and battery life without any fancy circuitry. The regular e-cig batteries were a big disappointment to me and I needed something more.

I can't wait to see what else ya'll come up with next :)

Its possible that I'm not blowing out the attys often enough. I sit most of the day and just suck on it,like a pacifer,so maybe I need to blow the attys out more often.
So Puck, any chance of making something that hits like the Puck but smaller, girlier? I love mine, but I worry about taking it out since it looks like a detonator to me. And is super obvious in my itty bitty hands

Thanks Puck!! Glad you like the designs! If you or anyone wants one of those little pump bottles but doesn't want to buy 10 of them, PM me your address and I'll send you one. Tiny, PM me and I'll get one on the way to you!

I suggest everyone spring for 10 of them because it works so well you'll wanna build more!

I agree with you 100%, especially the part I bolded. I was frustrated with e-cigs and vaping. The mods sound neat but overload trying to figure anything out.... then Puck to the rescue! The puck gave the consistency and vapor to keep me interested.....

Hey Puck... The Trekk mod has a built in flashlight for vaping in the dark... and I won't ask for details of these dark places you vape in... lol!

PM sent, Jim! Thanks very much!

How much juice does the pump put out per stroke? That info would be pretty handy, especially with the leakage concerns noted above. As for sealing the connectors, I put a nice blob of solder over the middle hole. Both connectors I used fit a bit loosely, so air flow isn't a problem. I did overfill on purpose just a few minutes ago to see what would happen, and it pooled in the bottom of the 510 connector before leaking over the edge and down the side of the box. Inside is still high and dry!

Looking forward to the pump mod... Speaking of which, is everyone able to see the pics on the Puck SD build page? For some reason I am not seeing any pics in the very first post...?

I hereby dub the dual atty model... The Puck Double!

Have a great "Puck-ing" day!

I'm gong to post this here, since we are using Nimh batts and no one else really is...

On eBay there is a chinese supplier claiming to be selling AAA nimh's that supply 1800 mAh! Is that even possible, or are they pulling a fast one? If it's true, and they're any good, this could be a serious boon for our mods! Not sure I can link here, so just search for 1800mAh Ni-MH purple battery. They are selling 24 for .99 plus around $9 shipping.

hmmm....seems fishy.
