I was wondering about using this;

4X AAA capacity, battery power indicator lights, comes in several colors, and you could just switch out the led for a connector. They also make some that have a usb charging plug on them to charge the nimhs with, but those look a little more complicated. Do a search for NDS or PSP emergency charger for additional units.

Nice find! The only boxes I've seen like this are so you can use NiMH batteries to charge things like an ipod or cell phone. The USB is output only and the batteries have to be removed for charging. NiMH's want to be charged individually, not in series because they don't charge equally.

It will still make a great looking mod... I wish I could charge the batteries w/o removing them but it's difficult with NiMH's.

Could be promising.....

I'm working on this one and will see if I can mod it. WAY thin and light weight. If possible, it will take some doin'

Interesting, definitely let us know how it goes.

I have a PSP charger but it doesn't supply enough current for vaping becuase it has too much regulation circuitry but this... using 4 Nimhs peaks my interest. It's kind of stylish also.

I think I'm going to order one after payday just to play with. They only run between 5 and 10 bucks online. So far I've seen white, black, two shades of blue, silver and heaven forbid, pink. I'm curious to see if it can be pulled apart without tearing it up.

Here's the one that says you can charge the nimhs in the unit; DealExtreme: $7.90 Rechargeable 4xAAA Powered Emergency Charger for PSP GO - Black I'll leave that particular judgement up to you though. :)

Yes! Great find! I've been looking for something like that! I ordered a couple to check them out and will report back! I also picked up one of those little crank things... lol more as a curiosity..... prolly have to crank for an hour to get enough charge to vape a few puffs.... I'll need higher nic content juice... ;) (Someone actually beefed up a hand held crank flashlight and turned it into a mod!)

Of course I couldn't stop there! I picked up a few different styles of power boxes to play with and I'll start another thread when there's something to show...... They're all ugly or I'd post pics

I'm already planning how to mod it! Thanks again!

Lol You're welcome jim. Looks like I've given you something to do for the next couple of weeks. Question though, if the self charging box works out, do I get to beta test a unit for the finder's fee?

:vapor:

As far as the hand crank goes, even if it takes quite a bit to work it, I guess you could toss it in the glove box for emergencies. :)

Yep! You've given me a few projects to construct! If the NiMH recharge box works... my first one will be custom built for you!

It will be interesting to see if the crank puts out anything useful..... My cell phone is a battery hog!

Aw thanks jim. I was just kidding, but it would definitely have an honored place here, and I'd want to pay you for parts at the very least. :)

Well, inspired by capecodjim's Pump-a-Puck and my consistant driving in the dark since it is dark when I go to work and dark when I leave this time of year, I threw together...

The Puck Cruiser :)

Cruiser since it is the perfect driving companion. No need to refill due to capecodjim's spray bottle technique, especially while driving (in the dark even). I am happy as a clam. This is just a prototype and thrown together within an hour or so but it is very functional and will become one of my main PVs.

Here are the pics....

PuckCruiser11.jpg

I used brass pipe for the fittings to the cart and also in the output of the spray bottle and attached a small RC car fuel line tube to each. I had to use brass tubing there because no glue or epoxy could hold the RC fuel line in place.

Although it does not use the conventional Puck battery box, I use a battery holder in a small project box. It's about the same size as a Puck but a bit thinner. All parts are available locally just like the Puck except for the spray bottle which capecodjim graciously supplied the information for. They are cheap though, like a buck a bottle so the cost of the mod is still extremely cheap.

Not quite small enough for the ladies yet but if you drive alot, you need to build one or capecodjim's pump mod. No more refilling your cart.

The really nice thing about this is it just takes one push or pump to get 20 hits basically. I believe this is due to the bigger RC fuel line I'm using for the line from the spray bottle to the cart. The cart filler stays in the cart and the pump just "injects" your juice into the cart, forcing it down through the filler. Right after you pump once, you can hit it and you have your juice there right away. I was surprised at how well this works.

The brass tube is inserted at the bottom of the cart so it wets the entire filler material. The pump injects the juice and makes the complete filler wet. Simply amazing stuff.

The Puck Cruiser. I think I'll keep it.

how meny volts this put out, i mean i need something alot stronger then my ego

You can read the posts here about the Puck and how many people like it. It will put out as much vapor as you need. The Puck Cruiser I just posted is the same thing (basically 4 AAA NiMHs) and it will do the same. It's easy to build yourself one. There is a complete tutorial with pics I created. The link is in my signature or you can build any one of the variations in this thread.

Awesome build and great design Puck!!! I like the brass pipe for hose fittings. It's much nicer looking, sturdier and more flexible to make changes.

I'm glad you like the pump setup already. I've had great luck with it!

As far as I'm concerned, these pumps are better than any other method I've tried. I've made bottom feeders with squeeze bottles, Squueze bottle feeds to the cart and a host of other wild and crazy things I've tried but didn't like any of them. I've seen the pump where you push the bottle from the bottom and didn't like that idea either since you really can't sit it down.

When I saw your method, I said, that's it. Gotta try that. So I threw it together with some parts I already had sitting around after the bottles came in. Took about an hour after the time it took figuring out how to get that hose connected. It took a while to figure that out since no epoxy I had would hold it in. I broke down and cut off some brass tube I had and that worked. It's a protoype based off of your idea and man, what an idea. One pump is all it takes to hit it 15 to 20 times before having to hit the pump again. I couldn't believe that. Nothing really compares to that in this format. And it is clean also. No juice on the fingers or clothes when trying to refill the cart.

I may build another in a smaller format, but for now, I just wanted something for the dark drive. I have a 90 minute drive to work and a 90 minute drive from work and right now it's all in the dark so I wanted to throw something together. Your Pump-a-Puck motivated me :)

Thanks! I knew it would be perfect for driving in the dark and am glad you tried it right away.

I didn't like the bottom feeders that you have to tip and press and worry about leaks etc... And I agree about the ones with the bottle sticking out the bottom. It would drive me crazy not to be able to stand it up... I lucked out that the bottle was perfect size for just the plunger to stick out the top of my puck inspired design and ran with it.... What could be better than a perpetually wet cart! Every puff like it was just dripped. I saw how the good it worked I knew I had the juicing solved already and could move on to the next priority.. USB charge....

I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about it already and have refined it even further. Good idea with the RC stuff... asdaq's fittings and hose are much larger. I went to a medical supply place to see if they had hose but they didn't. I'll have to find an RC place. Any mod I'll be serious about vaping with will have to accommodate a pump. I can't figure out how to put one in my Trekk yet but I have one attached to the side while I work on it..... :vapor:

90 minute commute each way?? 5 x a week?? I hope it's all highway driving and you get good mileage . No driipping and driving or changing carts anymore!!

Aw thanks jim. I was just kidding, but it would definitely have an honored place here, and I'd want to pay you for parts at the very least. :)

Thanks StrormFinch!... :vapor: It will be interesting to see what it is and if it recharges the NiMH's as advertised. I'll try and turn it into something that will throw off some vapor !

Well gang, I think I've come up with something for those wanting a small tube mod. Check this out:

portable-battery-emergency-mobile-cell-phone-charger-31485n.jpg

It's aluminum and supposedly running at 5 volts on a single AA, or at least others I've found of the same design are stated as such, reviews included. This particular one comes in a lot of great colors though. :)

It's not going to put out any juice with a single AA battery. It would prolly get you about 5 mins of talk time if that (it's sold as an emergent cell power back-up).....

The case might hole a 14400 battery for a little 3.7v vaping... which will put out good vapor with a LR atty.
