My local news said 100 dead over 48 states with thousands taken sick.

70% male
75% under 35

That figure seems way wrong. They estimate there may be twice as many illnesses as currently recognized from cases that weren't diagnosed as THC vaping related, and with 800 so far that would be ~1,600 nationwide, but 100 deaths is tough to buy.

Pffft, those were the same people who recently announced a fellow died from my state who hadn't lived there since 1994……

Point of my post was to say this whole epidemic notion is hog wash intended to scare people into not vaping.

Hell I aint scared. I survived a Fuma from 2009 with no telling what concoctions that chinese factory packed into the cartridges back then.
Man, each drag was torture. Then they'd burst and juice would run down my face making it all numb. But it sure was fun going into restaraunts where smoking had just been banned and puff away as the orange glow of the tip would cause little kids to clutch their mommy in fear while dad went to tell a manager of two people "smoking" over in the booth by the salad bar. lol

THC oil has a problem with pesticides to begin with, even at some dispensaries, because the regulations vary, I think from county to county. Many dispensaries really do make it a point to get it down to the "safe" level, but my point here is that it's already inherent in the oil, because the plants are so heavily sprayed. But because it's oil, it can't be mixed with regular eliquid because regular eliquid is not oil. It's a water soluble liquid. We learned this in grade school, water and oil don't mix! I realize people think it's oil because it looks and feels like it, and vegetable glycerin is even a byproduct of vegetable oil, mostly coconut or palm kernel oil, but it's actually a sugar alcohol, which is not the same as oil. And the other 3 ingredients in eliquid isn't oil either, the PG, flavoring, and nicotine. And besides the "chemical burns" these doctors are talking about, which I believe are things like the antifungal myclobutanil, present in the pesticide, that turns to hydrogen cyanide gas when heated, the second illness is lipoid pneumonia. Let's talk about that. Lipoid pneumonia is caused by inhaling lipid (fatty) particles that come from fat soluble oil like vitamin E acetate, which we know has been found in the THC carts. It coats the inside of the lungs like grease, or so I've heard from doctors, but the key point here is again - it can't be mixed with regular eliquid (water soluble remember?) - The politicians, doctors, and so-called health experts seem to be either missing this or deliberately avoiding it. I believe they're conflating the two, the oils based carts that can contain THC, and regular, water soluble eliquid, and I believe they're conflating the problems, teen vaping and vaping illnesses, and I believe they're doing it intentionally. It muddies the water, creates confusion among the public, creates doubt about the safety of vaping in the public eye, thereby garnering support for their political agenda.
