Hi guys,

I've been using my e cig for the last week or so now. It is truely fantastic, I have the occasionally ciggy but I stub it out before the end and have gone from about 30-40 a day to 2-3 MAX.

The weird thing is, I am not craving the cigarettes while using the e cig and find it very satisfying all around, however the last few days i've noticed and others that I am angry and in a foul mood. The only time I get like this is when I try giving up smoking and the first few days I feel like this.

Why could this be? Is it a common effect that maybe i'm not getting enough nicotine I was used to? Or could it be the other chemicals in cigarettes have this effect? I don't mind the anger but I am hoping it is down to the e cigarette and my nicotine consumption because anything to imrove my health is very welcomed.

I am smoking a mix of 11mg and 16 mg - the point is it satisfies my cravings, I can deal with the bad mood.. my attempts in the past (50 or so attempts) at giving up smoking have always because the cravings have got the better of me.

Is this placebo or is there a possibility the bad mood but NO nicotine cravings is because i'm taking less nicotine overall ( or am I taking more??)

Thanks for reading, hope i've made sense

Some of that is normal, I started mostly with 12mg, and a little 18mg, I found the 18mg was more effective at keeping my nerves in check.

Ultimately I settled on 24mg for the first few months, now I am down to 12 on average, with 18 when I need something with some extra kick.

Every once and a while I will load up some 24mg if I know its gonna be one of those kind of days.

It did take a bit to get used to the 24-26mg strength, I was vaping a whole lot more of the lower strength stuff, and when I made the switch to 24mg full time, I had to pace myself!

I'm just going to follow Carpedebass around today and post "That's what I was going to say!"

I went through a slight blue spell after stopping the analogs, and I chalked it up to the 'other chemicals' and probably specifically MAO inhibitors, present in cigarette smoke. My husband, without directly saying so, kind of suggested I smoke a few cigarettes to see if it would perk me up a little. I tried, but they were too nasty. The blues seem to have passed now though.

You may likely be missing the MAOIs in analogs. They are an antidepressant. Just calm down and relax. It should pass within a few days...

EDIT...also drink lots of water. It'll help your body flush those other toxins out of your system.

Yes, totally correct. Here is a little more info on MAOIs. Recent studies, reported by the National Institute on Drug Addiction (NIDA), seem to bear out my hunch. These studies suggest that tobacco contains a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). MAOI's are anti-depressants, which work by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. They are used in medicine to treat Parkinson's disease, which may explain why a number of studies have shown that smokers have a far lower rate of Parkinson's than non-smokers. In any event, the MAOI in tobacco smoke may play as great a role in smoking as nicotine.

There are a lot of chemicals in cigs and they are wearing off though you seem to be prolonging that a bit by continuing to smoke. 4000 chemicals including MAOI's (which I think reduce depression) and carpet glue and all kinds of crazy stuff. Take some vitamins, eat well, and remember to drink plenty pf fluids because vaping can be drying.

If you bought an annoying ecig or are using it an annoying way - that can cause anger. I got very angry about atomizer + cart, especially first thing in the morning when I needed a vape and the atty + cart would refuse to give me a decent drag. Once I switched to cartomizers (simple stuffing ones) that was much better - it would just work.

Sleep - some people find they don't sleep well when switching to ecigs. Some find they need to vape lower nic in the evenings to sleep well. Some find the opposite, that vaping extra before bed helps.

Stress of disassembling your habit - I got stressed in the evening trying to decide is this my last drag? is this? so I could disassemble everything and set it up to charge. Solution - a spare battery for overnight (and spare charging cables help so you can charge all of your day batteries overnight). Late night I set all of the day stuff up to charge and take the overnight battery (in my case 2) off the charger. Then I leave my ecig set up all night. I don't have to screw with chargers right before bed. If I get up for something, the ecig is there. When I get up in the morning it is ready to vape.

Spares - spares are good for relieving some stress of ecig use. I have spare parts, spare juice, etc. I actually carry 2 charged models for vaping. If I screw up with one I have the other. I have a PCC for one of them. I have a charging cable at work for each model I vape. I have enough charging cables at home to charge everything I need to take with me the next day at once. Each of these 4-port 2amp USB to AC adapters can charge 4 assorted batteries at once so these are handy:

If you get too much nicotine you may get one of the following symptoms - headache, rapid or irregular heartbeat, other blood pressure changes, cold fingers, hazy ill feeling.

i also felt a little hazy at first. I just had to get used to vaping. At first I fiending hard on my penstyle, but after a while I got used to this. It's an adjustment but I think the biggest thing is that the other chemicals in the analogs are what is bothering you. Once you realized this it makes everything easier.

Based on 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day I would say bump your nicotine to 24mg for a while (or at least 18). 11 and 16 are pretty low especially with the lower absorption rate of vapor in the mouth versus gas in the lungs. I'm sure the other chemicals in cigarettes are affecting this feeling as well, but hopefully more nic will help.

I agree. At least for the first few weeks. It helped me.

wow- how do they get away with that? prescription drugs without the prescription?

There are MAOIs in analogs?!? Wow ... I have severely bad reactions to antidepressants (e.g., irritability, mood swings, rage) ... maybe going 'e' will help in more ways than I imagined.

I get mean, hateful, and can't stand myself, without whatever else is in tobacco. I had to add snus and stonewalls to the mix to get back to semi-normal. If you have to be around people that irritate you or the feelings don't go away quickly, I would strongly advise adding snus or stonewalls. They saved my job and my kids' view of their mom.
