The technical details are sparse, but it seems like he had a bad setup. I'm sorry that he got hurt. But shame on him for not researching more about mods first and perhaps shame on the vape shop that set him up!

Wonder what the real story is behind "his modified e-cigarette"? Did he screw with something - or was it a bad interpretation by a news agency of what a mechanical mod actually is?

There aren't enough parts left or shown to tell what the PV actually was but the battery plainly had a venting incident.
