they're the same people that buy a hybrid car, hell any car, and only short-trip it.. then complain about the engine getting white stuff or gunked up... saying the car maker should have warned them... hello? this has been an issue with combustion engines since they were first made and only at least a half hour drive at hwy speeds once a week can prevent the issue... if your drive is that short, don't buy a hybrid, get a real electric or better yet, walk... lol we own a garage... it shows at times

Mech's do pose a problem for the new user, if a battery is defective, yikes, no protection there at all. I had a recent problem with a Kayfun base, I built it, had it on my coil tester, read 1.3 ohm, tested on Provari, 1.3 ohms, wicked it, added juice, took a few hits and got a major error message, replace atty, high current, etc etc. When I took the base off to inspect, and the metal piece below the coil was turned and must have shorted, it must have been ok while testing, but still off and I didn't notice it, but something went wacky while using it. I fixed the metal base so it was all lined up and it is working fine now. But made me think, holy moley if this happened on a mech, yikes!!!!
That's why every new build I vape on a regulated mod before I switch it to my Mech's

Before you can drive you take a test, before you buy a house you get inspected, new job you train, buy a car you look at its reviews and test drive it. But get something that has the ability maim, you neither ask nor study up or look up reviews on it. You jump from ego style ape pens, to VV/VW, TEMP CONTROL, MECH MODS,MECH's, DRIPPERS AND 2-3 BATTERY MODS, SUB OHM TANKS AND SUPER LOW BUILDS.
All because blowing big clouds look cool. We never say to beginners, slow down those guys are experienced, we put a disclaimer out saying know ohms law, battery safety that even with a protruding 510 pen tanks should not be used on a hybrid mech, use appropriate chargers and that on mech's always check battery orientation.

We always want to blame someone or something else when things go wrong, the Antz love to say look it's dangerous, it exploded, caught fire or blew up. 99.9% of these accidents are USER ERROR, because they weren't taught, or thought all vape mods were the same, (Look at the damaged mods in the vids) wrong tanks, batteries in pockets and improperly changing batters are all USER ERRORS, if those new to vaping would take time, listen to experienced vapors, do your homework and never use a mod if you don't know how to us it properly.

It's to bad we did this in general vaping instead the new member fourm, because they are this thread target audience.

Excellent post...

Personally, I don't have any appeal to mech mods, I never did, never will, but that said, the reality is that regulated mods have come a long way and at this point, is a much better choice for most people. It's understood that there is a large population of mech mod users that do it without issues, but for newcomers, should I owe a shop, I would refuse to sell a mech to anyone that hasn't vaped for at least a full year (on a regulated mod or such) and knew all the safety precautions to take.

Trouble is, the newbies that want to be cool and have the "ricer" mod to prove something, instead of simply vape for the better reasons. The moment I see anyone start with "I want to blow huge clouds", I know that this person is a news story waiting to happen. They believe that going with mech mods as soon as possible makes them "bad-..." and don't even come close to understanding the "rules" (aka ohms and battery safety), then start going on with questions about having issues and trouble with their RDA with 8 coils in it, etc. More and more now, I simply stay away and no longer bother, as they simply don't get it, and sadly, they have others that encourage them with misinformation and simply bad advice.

Sadly, this is what's going to be a huge issue with vaping being accepted as something to stop smoking and such, against making it appear to be dangerous, and truth is, vaping IS dangerous when done wrong.

Education is sadly, only a part of the solution, but the problem is, those that just don't have the ability or even (dare I say) the intelligence to understand that the safety part is the most important one, will end up having these "accidents" regardless and vaping end up generalized.

So regulations? heck yes, at this point, I would be fine with "no one should be allowed to buy a mech without taking a course about safety and building correctly" rules. And batteries should come with a carry sleeve and the sellers making sure that the person understand that the battery should always be in the mod or in the sleeve at all times while carrying/storing it.
