Went to CVS and asked for U.S.P. Glycerin. They said it was a specialty item and could be ordered. I looked around the pharmacy isles for a while and found this. I called the 800 number and they assured me it is U.S.P. grade glycerin from vegetables and contains no additives.

Just thought I would post this as I had not seen this label on here. I do remember a pharmacist on this board saying all U.S.P. glycerin is made by Humco, and to use this labeling they must conform to the standards. I guess I will find out in a few min.

It's the pharmacist:

#1. It's not made by Humco
#2. The name on the front of the label is almost in the correct format(there should be no periods between the U.S.P. it should just be Glycerin, USP -or the USP can be below the Glycerin). However, the rest of the label is improper, CLOSE, but still slightly improper. The required "Drug Facts" heading is missing as well as the "active ingredient-purpose" section(which should read anhydrous glycerin 99.5% - not vegetable glycerine). The "uses" part is there but the uses description is not the FDA approved description. Same with the "Directions" part and description. It's all in the wrong order as well. It sould be Drug Facts heading, active ingredient-purpose, Use, Warnings, Direction, Other info(if any), Inactive ingredients(if any), then contact info. Also, there must be a lot# and expiration date.

I checked out the website and, who knows, it may be USP grade or it may not be. If it is, they have serious legal concerns with their labeling.

I have a comprehensive posting about this coming soon.

P.S. The CVS Glycerine, USP is NOT a special order item(at least not at the ones I've been to) It's in the skin care aisle in a clear 6 oz plastic bottle.
