Hello Everyone! I have been reading for a few days now, trying hard not to be overwhelmed by all the new terms! I have been using disposables for about a week, but I can tell that's just not going to work -- too expensive and always running to the store! That number of puffs displayed on the packaging is a big exaggeration! I've tried the disposable V2, Blu and Tsunami. Now I know I CAN do this because I didn't even miss the analog Mistys I was hooked on (famous last words, right?) I've read through most of the posts from others looking for starter kits and weighing the pros and cons. I'm looking for a B&M store in my area in hopes of seeing a few choices in person, but we are in the middle of a snowstorm and no one is going out, schools are closed, etc. GREAT! It seems every day I change my mind on what kit to order and end up having to burn money on disposables from a gas station again. Originally, I had decided on the Kanger Evod but it looked pretty big in the youtube video I saw. So then I was thinking of the Halo Triton, mostly due to the looks of it - but no one recommended it today to another new member, so I am questioning my choice AGAIN. If you have experience with the Halo Triton please tell me what you like about it or hate about it. I know the thread number is different from many of the others, is that really a problem? I guess my trouble is coming from not being able to see either in person to really judge the size. I'm totally over the idea that what I choose needs to look and feel like a "real" cigarette - just can't decide on the kit so that I can stop the disposables! I can't wait to order liquids in all the flavors suggested - I know I will go a little crazy with that. Any help would be appreciated and I will keep reading through the forum for more suggestions! Thanks!

The Kanger EVOD is compatible with the most clearos, tanks, cartos (most all of the devices you would be putting eliquid in - 510 and ego style threads) while the halo triton uses a much less popular thread (vGo & 808) which will pretty much lock you into just ordering from them as it is hard to find compatible devices with that threading

My vote goes for the evod or any similar 510 and ego style battery due to the compatibility and ease of finding and getting parts for it.

To be honest with you, most of it is the same you are just splitting hairs unless you want to make some crazy mods. Basically think about what traits are the most important to you, cost? battery life? size of tank? drag resistance when taking a puff? and others. It will be difficult to mess up and be unhappy after you buy your first kit. What is important to you?

I'm sure that some Halo fans will not be happy with what I'm about to say, but I would strongly suggest that you start with a basic eGo battery (maybe VV--variable voltage--but that's not necessary until your sure that you are going to like vaping) over the Halo Triton.

I started with the Halo Triton system. Honestly, I really liked it and I still use it, but the Halo batteries are 808-threaded. Most of the industry is eGo/510--meaning that there are many more products that are compatible. I ended up "upgrading" after just a couple of weeks. If I had it to do over, I would have done a bit more research (which you are doing) and gone with the eGo from the start.

Also, since you asked about size, the Triton batteries are comparable in size to eGo batteries.

Finally, one other reason I would go with the eGo batteries is that they are cheaper.

Don't get me wrong, Halo makes great stuff for the most part, but you will be kind of limited.

If you are looking for something more along the size of a cigarette, then I've heard good things about Smokeless Images Volt. Also heard good things about Halo's G6. Halo's liquid is also supposed to be pretty good, but if you are looking at Halo's ego sized Triton kit, you may as well just get the same sized Evod kit, and then buy some Halo liquid to put in it.

The Halo Triton and the Kanger Evod kits are both around the same size I think. I believe they're both 650 mAh batteries? You would do better with the Evod kit, as it's compatible with most other vaping products out there. The 650 mAh batteries are more like the size of cigars, or sharpie markers.

Actually, Tritons come in several sizes. The starter kit comes with two batteries, and you can choose between 400 and 650 mAh (I got one of each when I started). However, they also have 900 and 1300 mAh batteries (including a 900 mAh VV).

Im extremely happy with the Kanger Evod starter kit. It is a little larger than a standard cigarette but trust me, there is nothing large, unwieldy or clunky about it. While I cannot speak to your personal preferences, I do believe that in a short amount of time off of analogs you will NOT want something that looks and feels like a cigarette. If you are going to vape (and it sounds like your mind is made up) then look like a vaper. I can't think of any situation where I would prefer that others think I'm smoking a cigarette.

Thanks so much for the quick responses! You guys are awesome! I really liked how the Triton looked in the iridescent color -- old hippie here! There's nothing quite like that color in the Kanger. If I could *just* see them in person it would be easier, I guess. The visual impact does have a little to do with it for me, personally, not sure why. I'd rather not have two or three starter kits laying around a few months from now, but I realize it takes trial and error. I'm not opposed to the longer battery length. I've been smoking 120s for WAY too long, so that's not an issue. As long as it doesn't look like a fat ...., I am good! LOL! After all, I am 58 years old and a grandmother - my .... days are behind me now. What about the top coil vs bottom coil thing? Tritons are top coil and some of the reviews said that was a good feature in making the coils last a little longer. The Triton tanks are PLASTIC tho and I intend to try LOTS of different liquids, so that could be a minus for me if cracking is truly an issue with some of the liquids. This is probably all just personal preference and as someone already said, kind of splitting hairs. Keep the opinions coming, I am snowed in and on my last Blu - need to decide soon!

Nanny2: The Triton Tanks are basically T2's, which are top coil clearomizers. The Halo Standard is 2.2 ohms, which delivers a warm vape.

Bottom Coils, such as the Protank are cooler vaper and airier (not as dense, not as tight).

Personally, I like the T2s, and when I purchased my MVPs, I picked up some 510 threaded T2's to compliment the iClears that came with my MVPs. But I like a tighter, warmer vape.

My Triton Batteries were purchased in April last year and are still going strong. I am still using the same tanks as well (with new coils, of course), and I still use them daily. My MVP2 is my all day device, while I use the Tritons on my nightstand these days. It's larger, but the battery can last for days, so I don't have to worry about taking 2 650 mAh Tritons with me in fear of the battery dying. The Tritons do charge up quickly, however, but I'd rather not worry about them.

The Tritons were my first kit, and I do recommend them to someone coming off of cig-alikes, like the BLU. Most people like to transition up, and many are not comfortable with a large device (many believe that Ego batteries are too large). It's up to the person.

As far as Evod vs Triton -- Over 8 months later, and my Tritons are still alive and kicking and delivering the same excellent vape as DAY 1.

Sbowlden, thank you for pointing out something I had not stated -- I do NOT want to look like a smoker anymore, in fact I feel like I have been hiding that for a VERY long time. I never smoke in public if I don't have to. Though I am old enough to remember the days when we used to smoke in the grocery store!!! So whatever I decide on, I am NOT looking for something that looks like a cigarette! I've already adjusted to the disposables being heavier and different to hold. I love that nothing is on FIRE, doesn't have an ash to flick, and I don't STINK!!! That's always been an embarrassment for me - wanting to be sure that when I hug my grandchildren I don't smell like smoke. i know that MANY memories are tied to our sense of smell - I don't want to be a stinky grandma!! Thanks for pointing that out!

I bought an eGo vv2 and topped it with a Kanger Evod for my first setup. Still have it and still use it today at work. I spent a few extra dollars and got the steel top. Worth it as it won't get broken as easy. For the price of a carton of analogs, I got the setup and 2 bottles of juice. Best deal I ever made. Haven't picked up nor wanted and analog since. Before going out and spending a small fortune, get something " functional" and go with it. Do some research and make the big step then. If you can find a local Vape lounge or B&M go there spend some time asking questions and most of them have a tasting bar. Use it. If you find something you like buy it. This is a personal choice so make it personal. You wouldn't buy an expensive wine without tasting it. Same with Vaping. You will be amazed at the options and variables that are available. :headbang:

Nanny, if you look around you can find an eGo spinner that looks almost identical to the iridescent Triton (same color I bought, fwiw). In fact, when I was traveling last month, I went in a vape shop and saw what I assumed was a Triton iridescent battery--it was an eGo spinner. Just a quick search for "rainbow ego spinner" led me to this:

Vision Spinner Variable Voltage 1300mAh eGo Battery - New Rainbow Color

and this

VISION Spinner Variable Voltage eGo 3.3-4.8v 1300mah - RAINBOW [gv-VisionSpinner1300mah-RAINBOW] - $29.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

Now, you might not find this color as part of an EVOD kit, but you can buy the things separately.

My wife disagrees with you, but I agree with you. Even though she prefers the cig-a-like, she is now using 2 eGo batteries and EVOD tanks. The cig-a-likes kept letting her down at the end of the day.

SBowlden - I have to ask... That guy protesting in the background... Shouldn't that sign read "Get a brain! ......"? Or were they protesting sombody named Morans? (I hope)
