I've had my 510 for a few days, accidentally broke my first atty last night (hoping I can rebuild it), but anyways my question is this. Why do you need a drip tip at all when dripping? I am dripping and sucking right on the atty just fine?

You don't need one, what you are doing is called "tail piping" around here, nothing wrong with that. The drip tip just makes it easier and keeps you from burning your lips on a hot atty end. You can also drip and put an empty cart on to save your lips.

You probably won't. This is some of the "terminology" and such that comes from experience. There is a ton of info out there . We don't want to overload you on your first trip out!
You can use a 306 with an empty cartridge on it rather than a drip tip, but if you're dripping it does mean you'll need to pull off the cartridge every couple of puffs.
