Any advice for someone strictly into flav(ap)oring?

Hi all! :) I've recently started vaping after being cued in that nicotine-free varieties were available. It's been an absolute joy since I've spent the last year or so battling ongoing GI issues & it's been either stick with a super-bland diet or be downright miserable if I give in to my cravings of "normal" foods. So to get at least the taste portion of the food experience has been ridiculously marvelous.

I've got a really great local shop which does completely clean mixes (separate equipment for the nicotine-free stuff to prevent even the chance of cross-contamination as nicotine is a no-no for me) and my flavor selection has been rapidly expanding with each new craving, so I'm set on the juice front. (Though I'm open on suggestions as to what flavors or combos translate well to vaping - my shop is open to doing up new flavor combos if suggested!)

I'm mostly wondering if there's equipment related ways to enhance the (already super awesome) flavors. Right now I use an eGo-T (either 1100 or 1000? I don't quite remember exactly) and some ce4s. I've been using the ce4s because I'm collecting a steadily growing harem of flavors which I routinely shuffle through. Since I've been hitting off 2-5+ different flavors in an hour, I'm really finding it handy to have the ability to just screw on a new clearo and be good to go immediately. I haven't run into any issues taste-wise, but am open to suggestions which would maintain that ease of switching but enhance flavor in any way.

I've also seen some mention of variable voltage batteries which you can fine tune to each juice. Are those difficult? Expensive? Worth it?

Any "must have" accessories you've found through your vaping life? Anything that's complete rubbish which I should avoid?

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to ECF. If you are a zero nic vaper you may down the road if you have the inclination consider making your own juice for quite a bit of savings. Not sure what you are paying for your nicotine less juice but its something to consider. I am sure others will be along to counsel you on the various VV devices to best suit your needs.

Actually, you can get a wonderful experience with just a simple battery. I have some Smoktech twist-style batteries that are very inexpensive and work fine. You may want some fancier gear as time goes by but if you are into flavor, check out rebuildable atomizers. There is some great info on this site and a world of video awaiting you. Wholehearted second on DIY juice, it wont get more certain for you than making it yourself. Good luck and have fun!

I agree. Adding variable voltage to your vaping arsenal can greatly improve your vaping experience as different flavors taste best at different wattages, for example, coffees and tobaccos like it hotter while delicate flavors like fruit shine at somewhat cooler temps. A vv battery will let you adjust the power of your vape with a slight turn of the dial. Totally worth it, IMO.

I like the Vision Spinner and the eGo Twist. I'm sure the Smoktech vv batteries are also good.

Good luck and happy vaping!

Along with the suggestions to try a variable voltage Twist or Spinner, You could also try some other clearomisers. For me the bottom coil Protanks produce more vapour and give a better and cooler flavour than the CE4 and CE5. The Protank comes with a card that recommends voltages for various resistance coils, and you should use those as a starting point for that device. Other top coil devices that you might try are the Vivi Nova and the iClear30

There are many more options that you can investigate when you are ready. Anything that you see people using on ECF is possibility for you when you feel you are ready for them. The absolute best flavour for example arguably comes from a dripping atomiser, but you'd need to do a bit of research first before you decide to leap in. The Ocelot has done a great blog on dripping that you might like to have a look at:

Welcome to ECF, AmyBeth. See how it is here? You've gotten some great advice immediately. :) I'll third or fourth a variable voltage battery in addition to your eGo-T and add you might want two--one to vape on while the other is charging. Rotating two will extend their life. Make sure the eGo-T is charged if you set it aside as a backup.

The CE4s are low-cost and good for having a delivery device for each flavor, but so are cartomizers and they're even less expensive. Start with some Boge LR standard length, 2.0Ω low resistance. You can keep one filled, in its original silicone end caps (called carto condoms on ECF), rubber-banded to its juice bottle. They only hold about a milliliter though, but that's good for a couple of hours. If you like them, but want more time, you can punch or slot them (or buy them that way) for use in a carto tank. As with the top-coil CE4s (and rebuildable CE5s, etc), the cartos give a warm vape, but you can cool that down with a longer drip tip, particularly metal. Look into them.

As said above, bottom coil clearomizers also give a cooler vape, good for naturally cool things like menthols. Be careful of juices that are "tank crackers" which can crack or melt plastics like polycarbonate and others. For those, you'll want to stick to glass tanks.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the recommendations guys! Seems like half the fun is trying new gear and finding what works best eh?

And I'll definitely have to look into personal flavor mixing once I figure out my tastes a bit. Right now it's just kind of scatter-shotting my way through the taste spectrum following my cravings, though butterscotch seems to definitely be a mainstay! :)

Oh, DIY juice mixing is about as easy as making cookies from scratch.

All it is is PG and/or VG (some people are sensative to PG), distilled water, the flavoring of your choice (or you can mix a couple of flavors together), and maybe some sweetner.

There are calculators out there that take alot of guess work (and math work) out of mixing.

I use a 100% VG base and LorAnn flavorings (yes the candy flavorings), so I started mixing with about a $25 investment. That included a 10ml medicine syringe, an eye droper, and a couple of empty dropper bottles from my local vape store.

The best advice I can give you is to do what you are already doing. Read posts and ask questions. There are good people on these forums who are willing to help new people get an understanding without being condensending. Most hang out here in the newbie room. I'm sure you will find a ton of information just poking around.

Good Luck, and welcome to ECF!!!

I could never taste juice in any kind of clearomizer tanks. That is what led me to using bottom feeders with a good atty...vaping directly off an atty is great taste. Now people use rebuildable atties, RBAs, and that is even better. But I just used Cisco and Vapage Hybrids in my bottom feeders.

If I still had to use tanks I think I would have given up vaping the first month, never could taste a thing!

Well, everyone who knows me already knows what I will recommend. I'm a huge proponent of cartotanks. For me and many other vapors cartotanks provide the best flavor production.

Consider the difference between how a clearomizer and cartomizer differ in their method of bringing the juice (which contains the flavor) to the heating coil.

Clearos rely of silica strings to bring the juice to the heating coils. That's not much surface area.

Cartomizers rely on a big wad of polyfill to absorb and hold the juice, and completely surrounds the heating coil. That's a lot of surface area. Using a cartomizer in a tank (cartotank), with each draw additional juice is pulled from the tank and replenishes the carto's filler to keep the area around the heating coil wet with juice. It's a superior method of juice delivery to the heating coil compared to clearomizers.

I'm a 0mg nic vaper...I need my provari(es). They let me try a lot of different delivery systems. I like my Vision Vivi Nova, I'm going to try some Boge XL cartos @ 3.0 ohm.

After seeing some videos of the Reomizer, I'm eager to go that way. The way people wrap coils, it looks like I may end up getting into tying flies for fly fishing! I think I'm going to get some Wilton VG and start DiY'ing some juice this weekend. Since I don't need nic, this'll be easy, especially following the recommended flavor on the DIY forum.

I actually have some Polyfill from my DIY stuffed monster days. Will that work?

Provaries are very good, but most APVs will "let you try a lot of delivery systems".

I wouldn't recommend the Reomizer though - that is for bottom fed box mods. If you want to try a dripper you'd probably be better off with something like the Igo-L or similar.

Don't wrap coils on polyfill, it will burn. You will need some silica wick or Stainless Steel mesh. I recommend you start with the silica wick.

I like my Provari because it's regulated. I'm eventually going to get a Reo, and after seeing a video on the Reomizer, I see how easy it is (to me) to build a coil. I thought it all out, it just got truncated when I typed. I wasn't considering putting a Reomizer on the Provari. ;)

Maybe I could use a Super T Vape Mate on the Provari while I save up for a Reo? I've seen pics of people putting Polyfil in their atomizer, but not wrapped. I've got SS mesh and Kanthal waiting for me at home. I can always use cotton for wicking as well. I can always use the Provari to check the resistance on the coil as well, so long as I'm not testing on a wick that can't be dry burned.

Thanks for the advice!
