Any bad side effect experiences of PG e-liquid?

I'm relatively new to vaping and have been using pre-filled cartridges so far. I'll be taking the leap into buying e-liquid when my new spinner 2 and mini protank arrive in the next couple of days.

However, I'm a bit worried about the amount of PG in the e-liquid as I've heard some people have been experiencing some bad side effects?

Have you had any bad side effects? If so, what were they? Does using VG liquids eliminate the potential for bad side effects?

I DIY my own liquid at 70%PG and have had no problems. Not sure how you could find out if your sensitive to it short of trying some though.... maybe a local B&M could help you out with a 3-5ml sample.... try a few drags and wait a few hours? I would think (not a doctor or anything) that if you are going to have a problem you would know fast, and trying a small (few drags) over a long time period would let you know but with lesser negative affects....

The only side effect I have noticed is when vaping heavy VG juice I do get spots on my face, which is odd as I never even had spots as a teenager.

I haven't notice any effect from PG but I know PG allergies are not unheard of.

A B&M is your local (brick and mortar) vape shop. :)

I use either straight VG, or a 70/30 mix. Does brand affect your reaction to PV juice? Always found the PV to be a bit softer on my throat.

some people may have a sensitivity to PG, so they will want to trend towards higher VG or VG only juices. it's like lactose intolerance, only the much more pleasant to be around.

also, both PG and VG absorb water, so the general rule of thumb for anyone that vapes is to drink plenty of fluids to keep hydrated.

I would be very leery listening to anything this ^^^^^^^^ crazy person has to say

Wow. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I'm leaning towards sticking with a more VG based juice. Part of the reason for moving from smokes to vaping is to reduce the amount of toxins and chemicals I put in my body so VG seems like the best way forward.

Can anyone recommend any good suppliers of VG only, or high VG juice? Preferably in the UK if possible. I don't think I'm quite up to making my own juice yet!

Thanks everyone! Guess I just have to give it a go...

Excuse my noobness... what's a local B&M??

Everyone's been new at one time or another :) B&M... Brick and Mortar. Just another way of saying a physical shop you can go to rather than an online shop...

As far as I know, there is no increase in toxins or chemicals with PG. People here are just saying its preference, some people don't like the stronger throat scratchyness of PG, some people have PG allergies. But you really won't know until you try some or go find out from your doctor.

Fun fact, PG actually has antibacterial properties. PG can be used to disinfect the air. And PG vapor has been shown to help clear lung related infections, I think this was tested on lab rats before and the PG vapor helped pneumonia in rats.

So don't get this idea that PG is bad bad bad, and VG is good good good. Nobody really knows with 100% certaintly the long term effects of either. They're both in the same boat as far as I'm concerned. Its just a matter of personal preference. Most people tend towards higher VG mixes because they're either looking for clouds or prefer the lesser throat hit. But VG doesn't carry flavor as well, so you'll get better tasting liquids in higher PG.

My skin, mouth, nose, etc, gets incredibly dry. I'm 100% VG now.

How much of a difference is using 50/50 and 100% vg, because I kind of want to switch to vg but dont want to lose that flavor and throat hit

Big difference from what I've tried (couple of juices only). A lot lower on the throat and incredibly soft flavor.

The flavor is almost the same, the experience you get vaping is the thing that changes, it runs smoothly, you don't taste it right away.

But I'm on 6mg and vaping soft juices. (I used to smoke the "lights") I don't like the throat hit.

I'm also new to vaping but I've definitely experienced dry-nose and as well as a sort of "coated" feeling inside my mouth after vaping a lot of any of various VG/PG blends.

I think it gets worse when I blow the vapor out through my nose, which I tend to do as my ability to taste diminishes or with certain juices that just taste better that way to me. Everyone says drinking lots of water helps, so I am trying to do this. Lately, the dryness in my nose (crunchy, ouchie) has gotten so bad that I can barely taste my juices. I suspect this is a serious case of "vaper's tongue" or "vaping fatigue".

I'm putting water & vaseline in my nose and making sure not to blow vapor through it for now. And trying really hard not to buy a pack! .
