Hi all,
I am trying to avoid the extension cap route for my new Provari, as I now own many 18650 mods, both VV/VW and mechs.
I've heard the Provari generally gives longer and better performance then other mods from the usual recommended battery, the AW IMR 18490/ 18500. So far, that hasn't been my experience. I easily go through two 18490 batteries, usually by 8 or 9PM, and need to change out for the third time. I don't mind carrying one spare around, but two should not be necessary IMO. Is there a quality battery in this size that carries more then 1100mAh? All I can find are the cr*ppy "fire" brands, and I will not put them in my Provari!

thanks!
Gary

There are a bunch that claim up to 5000mha but most are exaggerated. Go with a Sony, Panasonic or efest and you will find 2500mah plus up to 3000. I don't trust claims of 4000-5000. When i investigated some i found they did not test out to those ratings. Go with a 18650 with at least 2600 mah the smaller ones don't last long.

Hi Gary,
The problem you run into with using a different battery other than AW IMR is that you can void your warranty with Provape.
If you are ok with doing that then you may want to try another type of battery.
There have been tests that have shown the Provari drains the battery in idle more than some other pvs, at 0.96mA. So there's a quiescent drain going on which is probably more than you are used to having. This, and the smaller battery size than your 18650s, will mean less battery life. So one way to conserve battery life is to not use standby mode for long periods. Overall - an extension or a different kind of battery are the real solutions to your issue.

Unfortunately if you are already using the AW 18490's I don't have a better suggestion for you. The Provari in my experience does seem to be a bit of a battery hog - enough that it feels to me that it delivers relatively short run times. Don't be tempted to try Efest. They may have a slightly higher (alleged) mAh rating but after two months or so their run times start dropping off - a lot - compared to AW's with a more conservative mAh rating. In 18490 mode it is what it is.
