Saw my brother this weekend and I got to wondering if vaping might be helpful to him in giving up chew. Aside from the nicotine smoking and chew deliver, they seem like very different addictions. If you used to chewnI would love to hear your point of view. I am wondering if offering up vaping to my brother as an alternative to quitting chew even makes sense.

I actually knew a guy that did convert from chew to vaping. He did it because his wife got interested in it, and he later converted... So yes, there are people out here that did chew at one point. Personally me, I use Swedish Snus whenever I can't vape, i.e. I am out in the field doing maintenance, and it is not convenient.

Well Swedish Match does have its own nest to feather. They may be the big dogs when it comes to snus but there's a pack of scrappy mutts nipping at their heels.

Yeah, I checked Jakobbson's and I see they are sold in ONE little tobacco shop near me. I recently picked up snusing due to needing the alkaloids (much cheaper than WTA) and I was directed to buy General brand. I might branch out now. Thanks for the tip! :D

I dipped Skoal all day at the office where I couldn't smoke. I switched to vaping and continued to dip for 3 months, then quit the Skoal. Stopping the dip was much harder for me than ending a 35 year smoking habit, but probably would have been a breeze if I was able to vape at the office.

I can relate to that. Smoked on and off for almost 20 years. For the last five years I chewed a can of green griz a day. Quitting the dip is physically painful! Went back to smokes for a couple months after I quit chewing. Then came the e cig.
To the o.p: Get your bro some Swedish snus. That stuff is almost like the o'douls of chew lol. Maybe an e cig setup too. Spit tobacco has an un-holy amount of nicotine in it. The more options the better :)

I was a can a day dipper and a pack or so a week of analogs for about 6 years until I found vaping! haven't turned back yet and its been about 5 months. the hardest part is not having something in your mouth at all times and that's where gum helped out a lot. I loved mint dip and menthol analogs so I got spearmint e juice and spearmint gum and it worked great for me!

I smoked cigarettes until I found that I was to be a grandpa and that was 17 years ago, I quit my analogs but I soon took up smoking (not inhaling) hand rolled cigars. After the election of 2008 and the passage of the SCHIP bill taxing my cigars I took up smokeless tobacco on principle. I used Grizzly Straight and Wintergreen until February of this year, when I decided that I had paid enough tobacco taxes in my lifetime to support my share of the the state debt and switched to ecigs. It's been over 7 months now and I haven't touched any smokeless (or other) tobacco since and I am very satisfied with the change. I hope your brother can do the same.

Regards, Buffalo
