I can imagine that the heat from the vapor can do enough damage to slow your running and stamina.. but then again, I know people that smoked "other substances" that actually ran better because of it.

Nicotine does tend to constrict your lungs, which is why analog tar affects you much more than if you were to smoke something else.

Then again, if you ran when you were a smoker, you should see a great improvement on PVs compared to analogs.

I've tried several times to go running and it was a no go, even after 120 days+ smoke free.

I've been doing some minor-cardio outdoors, playing soccer etc, but I don't think that my lung health has increased that much and would wager that vaping is not that healthy for your lungs either way. Not as bad as smoking the real deal, but certainly not the miracle health cure some are suggesting.

I can't imagine running for fun...i'm just getting starting taking stairs now instead of searching out elevators

As a kid i would have preferred to break one of my legs rather than to run 100 meters. Being fat didn't help, running made me feel all sweaty and ridiculous :p

Today i wouldn't say that running is fun, but it's kind of meditative, uplifting, and even for people who never ran, like me, it's eerily easy to take up. 30 years of couch potatoeing just can't undo 2 million years of genetic evolution for persistence hunting. We are amongst the very best long distance runners of the animal kingdom and there's something very deep to reconnect with what we all are build for :)

No one having two functional legs, smoker or not, overweight or not, has any excuse to not achieve at least a straight 5k in two months, with that kind of plan (of course don't try to run more 2mn at a time the first week if you haven't had physical exercise for some time!!!)
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/caracal/2h-2008/C-5K-MKII.PNG >> repeat each exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week (preferably twice in one day -morning and evening- at least once a week) for efficiency.

As a smoker, in two to three months i lost 15 pounds and managed 10k and it's my favorite distance ever since.

I was a smoker since the age of 13 and I am 32 now. I quit smoking cigarettes 8 months ago today. Started vaping about a month prior to my last cigarette. I dropped 17lbs and ran my first 1/2 marathon last month.

When I first started training, I had a hard time jogging a 1/2 mile due to difficulty breathing. I kept at it and improved to the point where my cardio was fine and my legs couldn't keep up! I never stopped vaping during my training but I know that there is no way I could have done it if I kept smoking cigarettes.

So yes, I do run, even though I hate it! haha! I still vape and I will never smoke another cigarette again!

Although I'm built for it I hate running. I can run at a moderate pace for a fairly long distance with no trouble but my body, specifically my knees, feel all beat to hell for a few days afterward.

I prefer mountain biking instead. I've got all the gear. I did it even when I was smoking. My normal route is 15 miles. Give me my Scott Scale and some trails any day of the week over running.

Plus, it's very low impact.....except for when I fall.
