I can't imagine running for fun...i'm just getting starting taking stairs now instead of searching out elevators
As a kid i would have preferred to break one of my legs rather than to run 100 meters. Being fat didn't help, running made me feel all sweaty and ridiculous
Today i wouldn't say that running is fun, but it's kind of meditative, uplifting, and even for people who never ran, like me, it's eerily easy to take up. 30 years of couch potatoeing just can't undo 2 million years of genetic evolution for persistence hunting. We are amongst the very best long distance runners of the animal kingdom and there's something very deep to reconnect with what we all are build for
No one having two functional legs, smoker or not, overweight or not, has any excuse to not achieve at least a straight 5k in two months, with that kind of plan (of course don't try to run more 2mn at a time the first week if you haven't had physical exercise for some time!!!)

As a smoker, in two to three months i lost 15 pounds and managed 10k and it's my favorite distance ever since.
