Thanks for the info Gavin. So a pack a day smoker spends about R175 a week - R750 a month?
I've been thinking of importing a few DSE901 kits when I next visit SA, do you perhaps know off hand how much 901's, (maybe pink, red, black, blue etc.) are going for locally? i'm trying to work out how much I can flog them for and how fast, hehehe....
Which models do you use?

The cheapest 901 supplier I have found locally seem to be easycigarette at R495. You might also want to try justvape.

Jeepers creepers. The local Pharmacy is selling the Twisp liquids in that eye dropper size for R220
Then again they're the only ones on the Atlantic seaboard stocking both Twisp and njoy products and they're brick and mortar with high overheads in a high visibility location- unlike some of the suppliers here ripping people off on Bid or Buy and other online markets like Gumtree. Some of those suppliers have absolutely NO overheads and make obscene profits buying the cheapest crap and working out of their bedrooms probably, and the good thing about a physical shop/stockist location is that you can get what you want when you want it. I like Njoy's Ncig for now but the batt died after a month and I just slam dunked it on the counter and it was replaced immediately, no questions asked. Spare atomisers are usually in stock but someone's had a run on those lately.
Wish there were more variety, but those prices, well that's what you pay for convenience. Someone should still bring decent tested liquids in and better hardware at better prices.

I use 801's and 510's, pros and cons with both models. I'd say the biggest markup over here is on liquid, you would be able to sell 36mg, which is not available locally, pretty easily. Can you get 48mg or higher strengths over there? I've only seen it available from USA sites.

As far as I can determine no supplier here has anything over 18mg. At best one could hope for 24mg but I haven't even seen that yet. I 'd definitely buy 36mg and 48mg. Hell I'd even buy 50 something to cut my own liquid and be done with the middlemen forever. But I think suppliers here are pretty out of tune with the potential long term market- most of them are in for a quick buck and will vanish at the first sign of trouble.:D

You can get 24mg from EasyCigarette (R70 for 10mls). He has piles of stock and I always get what I need without having to wait for the next shipment to land.
I think I have seen some 36mg in some of the flavors but have not taken much notice.

Anything over 24mg would have my heart beating so hard it would pop out my chest. Even on 24mg that happens when I vape too much.

Wow, thanks for all the interesting info everyone! I went to look at the sites mentioned.
This thought of mine - for importing etc. is still in the very beginning stages.... But if I do, I will definitely have the products at a brick and mortar store. A friend of mine has business in Sea Point and can sell and keep stock there, so anyone can walk in and buy off the shelf, get replacements if DOA, and get spares liquids etc.
What do you guys think? Any thoughts??
I think I can source 36mg... how much can I sell it for though... THAT is the big question: weather it will be viable cost wise or not.

How about thoughts on the 901's? I think they are reliable, long lasting and great vapes.... I don't see any for sale at the sites you guys mentioned, (at first glance, maybe I just missed it). I personally like the whistle tip mouthpiece and being able to hold the e-cig in my teeth if I want, which is not really possible with the round mouthpieces.
How about 901's in colour, (can't believe I spelled colour with a U again, hahaha) as apposed to the usual white e-cigs for eg. pink, black, red, green, blue etc. Any thoughts please :). Would people go for it, or does everyone want realistic cigarette look-alike e-cigarettes?

Hey thanks Aucorium! Somehow I missed your post.

What model(s) do you guys use if I may ask?
What models are the most popular and sought after by the people already vaping in SA, is what I'm really trying to determine.

Pure speculation but if I were a juice supplier, i'd buy tons of unflavoured high strength 36/48mg and seperate flavourings and mix up per order. This would save having to carry stock of all the different flavours, maybe this is why we cant get anything high strength because they are already being cut locally?

I've had a 510 (dura-c) from when I first started and I am fairly happy with it and apparently it is one of the better models. I use that mainly for mobile vaping, and havent had any major problems with it. The attys need some maintenance from time to time and the battery life isnt that great 1-2 hrs at most. I've also found it almost impossible to drip with as the atty is small and buried deep within the chamber.

The other model I use, which now is only with a passthrough (it was the only model available with a passthrough locally) is the RN4081. Its great for dripping, and if you get a good atty it seems to last forever, however the quality of the attys seem inconsistent. For mobile vaping I simply can not use it practically, the cartridge for holding liquid is minute and the battery performance on both that I have is totally inconsistant.

I am going for an 801 next, simply because I havent tried a penstyle yet and i'm looking for something with better battery and cartridge life.

So from what research i've done - the best seem to be:
510 or 901 for super mini
801 for penstyle

I know there are screwdrivers and stuff like that available, i'm not sure what these are like.

Hi Dragon

I used a 901, which I sold to a friend, also using a 701 cigar, which has it's moments. Am now using an 801, still early days with it, but so far satisfied.

Problem with the ecig in SA at present is that it has not had great exposure yet (might actually be in our favour - time will tell). Most people in the street are buying at the flea markets, chemists and specialist tobacco shops. Only after making the initial purchase, people then tend to actually start researching the product.

These places mentioned above are ripping the public off, R750 for a 901/801 or 103 type equivalent. Cigars at R1200-00, Pipe at R2000-00, Juice at R150-00. By shopping around the prices drop to R495, R740, R840 and R70 respectively.

Makes you think??

Regarding the liquid, we have been on the phone with the manufacturer, it appears that they will no longer be making anything above 26mg, the reason stated is that anything higher becomes dangerous to the user and anyone that accidentally swallows it, so to preserve the business and not to come under public scrutiny if there are any deaths, they will no longer manufacture anything above 26mg, so if you can get any I suggest that you buy, as it may not be to long before it becomes unavailable.

Can you post this in the main forums if it isn't known already? Is this just to the South African market or is it to the US market as well because if as I take you at your word, your supplier supplies at least 90% of all liquid globally, then they are getting a bit frightened of something like liability...or worse. They supply Joyetech who supply Njoy right?

Hey, cool man, thanks for the great info! GRIEF!!! I see what you mean! Hmmm... my thoughts are spinning..... lol.
What do you guys think of the 510 in cool colors (otherwise known as the Dura, Titan, Yeti, Joye 510 etc.)?

BTW what kind of guarantee are these places offering on the atties and batteries? A month, more?

I always seem to miss the important meat in your post, I guess I'm too hasty and excitable lol!
So..... you HAVE a 510 and not so impressed and now want a 801? I thought the 510 was the hot model now. Interesting.... What brand 510 have you got and what colors are available in SA? Also can anyone tell me how much spare atties and batteries are and how long the guarantee is?
Hope no-one minds me asking all these questions?
Have you vaporists formed a group and had meet ups yet? You know to compare and brag, try other models, moan about prices etc., that would be COOL. How many of you are from the Cape? I would love a meet-up when I come :D.

One thing I have noticed about the electronic cigarette, how it performs has more to do with luck than anything else, you can select 10 electronic cigarettes of the same brand and model, all 10 will not perform the same, so when you get a new ecig and it does not perform well, it is not to say that it is a bad electronic cigarette but rather you just got unlucky, I have had the worst rated electronic cigarettes and they have out performed others, and then I have had good "models" and they have failed me big time, then you try the same model again and wow it blows your hair back.

It will be a fine day on earth when you can buy an electronic cigarette and know exactly how its going to perform. Maybe one day it will be like buying a car, you will know exactly what you can expect from the model.
