Any Signature Series 808 experts around?

I think I want this:

808 to 510 adapter [gotvapes-808to510-adapter] - $3.99 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

because the battery I want to try next is this:

Elite Vaporworks Batteries - Signature Series 808

and they're out of the cartomizers. I have loads of 510 and eGo clearo's and atomizers.

What I'm doing is trying this for hand-free operations, so to speak, and I can't afford a whole starter kit. So the very nice person at Elite Vaporworks told me I could get just one battery and a charger to try it out, but he has no carto's in stock. I like clearo's better, anyway, and I'm liking the mini's a whoe lot.

So, any opinions and/or warnings? Thanks.

Never used the Signature Series myself, but I've talked to people who have. It's an 808, same as Halo G6, the Volt, ect.

Save your money at GotVapes and get the adapter at mad vapes. Get sku 10102, it works like a dream. If GotVapes is like most vendors, their adapters won't work on a modern 808.

I'm curious why you don't just buy a 510 stick battery. Plenty of them around, and you wouldn't need to worry about adapters.

Thank you for responding, Johnnie Price. I've read your posts and consider you a reliable source.

I did just order a 510-T kit from FastTech. My problem is mAh per dollar. I want to replace my ancient 510 auto's but they don't seem to be made anymore. They really are different from today's 510's, the closest in size being the Mega. They even use a charger that won't work on my modern 510's.

So I started looking at the 808's which seemed closest in size but were way too close in price to my 900mAh dGoQ ($15 at local B&M). And then there'd be shipping. Then I found Elite Vaporworks' 808 and liked the sealed connector aspect; it's like my manual from JoyeTech, but it's automatic. And the price is perfect for my budget and more to my liking in terms of basic economics.

However, thanks to your question I now realize I've made a couple of assumptions about the Signature 808 which aren't mentioned on the site. I will have to ask them about physical diameter and mAh.

I've found the adapter you recommend, and I see the center pin you've mentioned in at least one other thread. Is that a rubber(ized) seal that works like the plugs on piggy banks? If so, I shouldn't have any trouble flipping over the pin if I need to.

The center pin is indeed simply held in place by a silicone grommet, the same as every other center pin I've seen. You can just pry it out with a precision screwdriver or toothpick.

The one from Mad Vapes, at least the one I received, is slightly different. Mine came with a solid center pin installed and then a second one with a slot in it. The slotted post screws into the other pin, making for a much better connection. Unlike other adapters I've used, I have had to do zero fiddling with this one.

If you want a quality auto, you may want to consider the Echo. It's an 808 but the same size as the eGo, and the individual batteries are about $15.00 as well. ;) It has the best draw of any automatic I've tried to date. Another thing I enjoy about it is that it is flat-topped, so if you use an adapter for an eGo cartomizer you get a nice, flush connection.

Mountain Vapor (mtnvapor.com) also has an automatic eGo, and according to Charlz it works just as well as the Echo. You may want to consider that for your automatic needs.

As far as stick batteries, the only one I would recommend is the Sidesho at Modern Vapor. It's definitely a bit pricey for a stick battery, but it is also about as responsive as the Echo and it works amazingly well. It's a modern j108 model (so it has a 510 connection), making it the same diameter as the Blu but it's about 180 mAh like the 306.

The "sealed" 808 has a number of minor problems, even aside from the adapter issue. The appearance of the sealed post gives people a false sense of security, because they think they can't ruin their batteries in the event of leaks. This is untrue. I only drip on my automatics, and I've come close to ruining the switch on a couple of my batteries. Thankfully I've caught the issue fast enough that I've been able to fix it before my battery was ruined. Also, the sealed post leads to a stiffer draw than an unsealed 808 or 510 battery. I continually recommend the Echo because it has a smoother draw than any battery I've tried to date, even when compared to my unsealed 510's. I have an automatic Volt X2 that sits unused because it frankly hurts my jaw to activate the switch on it over the course of a day.

Regardless of what you buy, remember to only buy the 808 adapters from Mad Vapes. I've used their 808-eGo, 808-801 and 808/901-510 and every single one has had the proper center post to operate a sealed 808. I've even used the center pins from these adapters to "fix" adapters I've bought from Avid Vapor and Value Vapor because they were not slotted correctly.

Good luck.
