My in laws are excited but my father in law goes " so, how long do you have to use that before you can quit?" if he wasn't my wifes family the reply would have been " your question is predicated on the notion that i plan to quit this which i don't at the moment"

+1

I told my mother the e-juices come with no nicotine, and that I enjoyed vaping so much that I might get down to zero and keep on vaping. My husband and kids agreed with me. (My kids are 20, 18 and 18, BTW) I was using 21 mg patches and am vaping 12mg to 16 mg depending on the juice. I see that as an improvement, especially since I'd still be on 21 mg patches, pulling the skin off of my arms while I used them.

I'm in the army, where smoking is incredibly prevalent and also very strictly controlled with rules on where and how to smoke
(50' from buildings-not while walking/driving military vehicles etc.) I drive heavy vehicles and vape in them because, well there are no regs against it. Friday I pulled up to the motor pool and as soon as I finished backing my trailer in, there is my commander arms crossed watching me blow a plume of vapor out the window. He walks up and even though it was 20 degrees out, the sweat started pouring. Before I could say anything he had me doing pushups. So about 50 or so in he asks "what the hell where you thinking?" I explained what it was and how long it's been since I had a real cig (dec 22 2010). First he apologized, then after the final formation of the day pulls me aside and asks me to order one for his wife.So this being the perfect @$$ kissing opportunity, I ordered a kit from iberty flights and he's unknowingly buying me a 1000 mah ego batt....
that'll teach him to make me do pushups on the ice :sneaky:

I don't use it public i.e. places you shouldn't smoke. I don't want the hassle. It looks just like smoking and I know it will just cause a storm of controversy. "Don't light that in here"

As for my family, my sister (who smokes) calls me Puff the Magic Dragon. Some think it is real stupid but they can't deny the fact that I no longer smoke and they do. We recently rode together. My dad is on oxygen and she says, "you can't smoke that. It might mess with the tanks." I'm like its NOT smoke. I am not lighting anything so how will the oxygen tanks explode? DUH! Then she rolled her eyes and said well you know I want to smoke and you keep puffing that thing in front of me. LOL! I enjoyed that day. She was so jealous and my dad didn't care that I was smoking it in the car. She kept fanning the vapor and I told her you don't have to do that, ITS NOT SMOKE! Sheesh!

My husband who has never smoked, is a vegan and a smoke nazi, loves it. My daughter loves it too. As long as I am not smoking they love it and celebrate me.

^ Totally how I feel at the moment.
For me it's a total lack of courage. I hate arguing with ppl.

Conversation with a hard-headed non-smoking friend outside the pub one night -
F - "What's that?"
Me - "It's a vaporizer."
F - "For pot?!"
Me - "No, it vaporizes a nicotine liquid. It's like smoking but safer - there's no burning material."
F - "That's dumb."
Me - "This one tastes like apple and cinnamon."
F - "I like apple cinnamon..."
Me - *LOL*

Most of my experiences have been positive.

I treat my pv like a cigarette in public, I go outside to use it in the smoking sections, stay away from doors, etc... Most of the other smokers I run into think it's great, and want to know more about it (first thing I tell them is to NOT make a purchase in a smoke shop, but do some research online).

Only real problem I have is, the smokers that are REALLY interested, usually ask me if they can try it... ew.

Also, I have had one non-smoking friend lecture me about not actually quitting cigarettes, since I'm still "smoking" nicotine, even after I explain how I can step down the nicotine over time.

I'm a little nervous about vaping in public, like indoors. Then again, that's why I started vaping (so I could smoke where I want)...I think we all need to just "GROW A SET" and do it. That's the only way to introduce this new thing to the public. If I have to go outside to vape, or get looked down on for vaping, I may as well just freakin smoke. Someday people will get used to seeing clouds of vapor and maybe even be ok with it.

I smoke in my office. NOTE: I am the owner so don't try this unless you're tight with the boss. Anyhow, everyone likes the smell of the vapor. They ask me "what flavor are you using today?"

getting blackout drunk and repping the ecig at various parties then being greeted the next day by random people i dont know going hey you're that ecig guy can i take another drag. then the process of cleaning all my cartos and drip tips hoping i hadnt already contracted something
  true true I swear I do not know when it became ok for me to like everybody and their momma try my pv but I try to Germ X mine every time I realize what I have done. Maybe its because I didn't really think much of letting people take a drag from my analogs either, but now I dont dispose of the germs. This cracks me up seriously.

Showed it to my smoking friends and a few smokers I know. Most are fascinated. Although one of them gave me the "you are putting glycols in your body?" question. I reminded him that he is too. In smoking and a dozen other ways. Also reminded him of all the other chemicals he is putting in his body each puff.

My mother was, "Are you still using that thing? When are you going to quit?" when I told her never she gave me the, "well you are still smoking" routine. Since then she bought one for my brother whose health has been destroyed by Analogs and is slowly dying from them. Watching him Vape happily instead of smoking she told him to use it for the rest of his life if it helped.

My hubby is thrilled.

I've had 4 encounters.
3 good.
1 meh.
The one meh was when I was hanging out with friends. I explained it to them and they had that whole "I don't know what's in it."
Told them 3 times that there are 4 ingredients to liquid
PG
VG
Nicotine
Flavorings
They still didn't give up on the fact that those 4 liquids are reasonably safe.

I got that once. Since I DIY my juice, I had a pretty good answer for him.

"Actually, I know *exactly* what's in it, since I mix it myself. My nicotine base comes from a lab in Florida with strict quality control. The glycerins are from U.S. suppliers as well, and meet USP standards; in other words, they're pure enough to use in INJECTABLE drugs. And the flavorings I use are almost all food or candy flavorings from the US or Italy. In fact, you yourself have probably tasted more than one of them in the last week and didn't even know it."
