Any thoughts at all about making vaping "quieter?"

This seems to stretch the proposition that there are no stupid questions. Good chance this question is just plain stupid.

My wife generally has no issue with me vaping -- well, that's a little strong, but generally that's the gist. She hates when I vape around her because she's bothered by, of all things, the sound.

The general hiss bothers her plenty. Any crackle or gurgle at all and she's just appalled.

While some tanks seem more likely to gurgle a bit, I haven't found any tank that's immune to it. And the hiss, well, that's just sound of me drawing . . . can't see any way of avoiding that.

I haven't consciously set out to get huge airy hits and giant clouds, I've really been looking for flavor and feel. Where I've ended up, it's pretty cloudy. Right now at my side I have a CoV vengeance tank on a sigelei 213 running somewhere around 65 watts. Have a bunch of mods & tanks, but they're all pretty much in that territory. Most of the juice I buy is high VG.

I would try a different setup when she's around, to accommodate her. Would a MTL-style kit be a lot quieter? I somehow doubt it, but any insights are sure appreciated.

I got my daughter's boyfriend a Kanger Subox Mini for Christmas, 2015. When he is vaping in the living room, the hiss makes me jump. We have one dog that tends to have seizures, and cats. I find myself looking around, trying to figure out if that noise is something I need to check out. Once I realize what the hiss is, I am fine with it. He is a keeper, both for my daughter and my grandson, who has autism. This guy who has never had kids of his own, and has not had the best experience with his father and step-fathers, is the best person I could ask for to be my grandson's step-father. I will gladly put up with the hiss from his vape to keep him around.

I hate to say this, but perhaps your wife should really consider what life would be like if you returned to smoking. As far as I know, my late husband never smoked. He died as a result of cancer the day before our daughter's first birthday. If she is worried about all the anti-vaping garbage that is being publicized, make sure she has access to the facts, and keep presenting the facts about vaping to her. Find out what exactly she is objecting to. I am using a CoolFire IV with an Aspire Nautilus Mini, and I don't think my setup is overly noisy, at least in comparison to my daughter's boyfriend's Subox Mini. She may be reacting to anti-vaping propaganda, or she may be legitimately overly sensitive to sounds. My daughter is a Doctor of Audiology, and also has hyper-sensitivity to noises and sounds.

Talk to her. Try to pinpoint exactly what it is that she objects to, and go from there. You may need to adjust how you vape and some of your hardware for when you are in the same room, but it will be worth it. Some people are just more sensitive to certain sounds than others. Personally, I cannot stand the sounds of knives being sharpened on a steel. I literally need to be out of the house or cover my ears.

I hope you can come to a solution that suits both of you.

I just dug out my old apollo kit . . . I think it's the apollo "ohm." I used it briefly when I first started vaping, which -- given the age of that device -- clearly wasn't so long ago. It's quieter, but it gurgles plenty. It's mostly quieter, I think, because the amount of air passing through a small hole is less. And it's a lot less air. I got a headache in 2 minutes pulling on that thing, trying to get a satisfactory hit.

Well, reserving my vaping for when I'm alone isn't the worst thing in the world . . .

Very good!
I doubt Apollo makes much noise, unlike their marketing. Volcano might produce something nearing vapor, either that or hot magma.
Then again, now Volcano have sold out to the cloud chasers they must be good.

(cough, cough.... NOT!)

Maybe try using your existing gear, turn the wattage down a bit if you can, and take slower draws?
