Anybody else spending a ton of money? Dissatisfied?

My only complaint is I wish I would of done some research and found these forums before I made my first purchase. I bought a Volcano because a half dozen people I work with bought that brand and loved it. I bought a deluxe kit and it is OK but wasn't all that satisfying to me.

I did some research and read a lot of good stuff about the Joye eGo so I ordered one of them. It came today and all I can say is WOW, night and day difference. I am still quite the novice and have tons to learn about mods, juices, etc. I just want to quit smoking and not gain 50+ pounds like I did last time I quit. I have smoked for over 30 years and WANT TO QUIT! I hope I can get the wife to convert as well. That is my biggest hindrance to quitting. I have tried numerous times but her still smoking temps me way too much. Such a cop out I know.

I'm brand new to all of this and so far I don't feel like I have spent too much. I purchased 2 starter kits from 2 different companies, both with a 30 day money back return policy. I decided it was worth the initial extra money to try more than one as from what I read they can taste quite different.

To be honest, the thought of filling cartridges and making all the mods sounds overwhelming to me. That was the reason I looked to the kits to start out with, I wanted something simple. Both company's support have been great in answering questions and assisting me in getting going. Its only been a few days of testing both and I am leaning heavily towards one brand (due mainly to taste preference). Taking all costs into consideration (replacement atomizers, batteries, cartridges) the cost savings over traditional cigarettes going forward will be significant. I live in NY and the cost of a single pack of cigarettes is now $9.50 as of July 1. Cost was part of my decision to try an alternative but health benefits were the primary reason. In just a few days I cut down on regular cigarettes significantly and hope to be completely off them within a week or two.

I figure if the kit gets me of regular cigarettes than it was money well spent even if it requires purchasing a couple different ones. Its tempting to start buying everything you see (for me at least!) when reading about all the options but I decided to stick with the kits for now. For right now I'm not concerned about having the ultimate best, etc. I just want off of regular cigarettes. Its a period of adjustment for me and once I'm completely over to vapor I can look at other options available down the road and get a bit more adventurous.

I just need to know that i'm not alone. I spent 75.00 on the E-cig kit, Another 50 dollars on getting carts and e-liquid. Now i find that i need to spend another 25 dollars for Attys? Good night! Am i really saving that much money on these things? Plus the aggravation of dripping and blowing and batteries and cleaning. I'm down to my last REAL cigarette and i can tell you that i wish someone had warned me that e-cigarettes are more hassle than they are worth. Plus just as expensive as cigarettes. I am getting so frustrated that i spent all this money on them only to find out that they are second rate at best. If you are a newbie and considering getting them....DON'T! I'm so mad about this whole thing...i wish i had never let myself get this kit!
RELAX take a deep breath the startup cost is quickly forgotten when you only sporadically order liquid or atomizers like i do now .

I always tell people upfront that it's going to cost more than their smoking habit.
It did me but now I'm stocked up. Today, I spent some money buying some stuff from a member here to get some friends started. Otherwise I haven't spent much of anything since last October.
I do know the frustration you are feeling. I felt the same way right after I got started. I'm so glad I decided not to chuck the whole thing. The learning curve stinks sometime and then there is finding the right equipment that fits you. Stick with it, you won't regret it.

I have been a heavy smoker for around 15 years and so far I am finding this so easy. I have lit up 2 cigs since quitting about 10 days ago and only managed a couple of drags before chucking it away. I am only using a 510 with soft top cartomizers and find filling etc really easy. Also I bought about 5 bottles of juice for around $40 and I have heaps left. I dont think this will be anywhere near as expensive as cigarettes unless you get into all the mods and new gadgets. The 510 is doing me just fine and I am not interested in anything else at this stage. The only issue I have at the moment is getting a good nights sleep (and I can be a bit irritable at times)

Stick with it mate

I don't know many smokers that smoke less than a pack a day. I live in one of the lower taxed states so that's about $5 per day. $35/week burnt, gone... litter and ash.
Vaping costs money. Buy 510 DISPOSABLE E-CIG KIT with Blue LED totally disposable items.. a pack 510's for 10 bucks, and vial of juice for another $5. 10ml E-Liquids
It'll last you way longer than a week and your well ahead of the game financially.
Point is, vaping is no different than smoking. You have a daily/weekly cost in your budget for either. I smoked cloves... They cost twice as much as a generic cigarette & I lost lighters like I loose pens ... another weekly cost for analogs.
It really isn't the money. I really enjoyed puffing on my cigarettes for near 'bout 40 years and that's a ton money. Vaping is so rewarding. I smell good all the time. My car, my hair, my clothes, fingers & breath. And speaking of breath... after (a tad) less than a year, I can climb stairs, walk distances, run, swim under water like a kid again.
Ponder this... It's okay to spend money to enjoy your new significant other just don't mourn your 'ex'.

I started vaping several days ago (once I had the equipment to) my intention was that it could suffice to replace analogues completely as the price of them just keeps going up and up in my country.

After trying it, I could immediately tell that it was going to be far better then analogues for more then just the good value they offer. Its a pleasure to use, and really does let you calm any craving on far more places then you can with analogues.

Initially I through my atty needed breaking in more but it just turns out I am a noob. I don't think the learning curve is that bad with them at all, and I am having an extremely good experience with my new M401 (some reasons mentioned above, and some not).

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned on the forums yet (probably has, I just haven't seen it) and this was a huge unexpected plus, is that I no longer feel thirsty after a smoke (ecig) whereas with actual cigarettes I would have dry mouth and be thirsty all the time. HUGE unexpected positive to switching over, I'm so stoked, and so happy I have made the change.

Yes and no! I first bought blu and then the smoking everywhere cig.. That was about 120 bucks there. Then i got a 510 kit with some juice for about 60 bucks and the 510 worked for me. When i got my blu i still made it work. It wasn't what i wanted but i knew i didn't want to smoke anymore. So yes i wasted money but I'm glad i finally got the right kit! I can breathe and jog again, and that is worth so much more than the money. :)

I hear ya, I love to smoke cigs and then smoke another one, and another one, on and on. 35 years, 2 packs going on 3 every day, one after the other. 4 days now I've been vaping like a maniac, so cool, not one cig, I love it. Hang in there the price sucks but cigs will never cut you a break, ever. At least this offers hope for today and even more hope for tomorrow.

I set my budget for $110 (two cartons of smokes, without tax) I researched till my eyes fell out. I rinsed them off, popped them back in, and found this forum and started reading till my eyes this time went on strike for higher wages. From this forum, I have found the best deals for me, and gave me a baseline of "expectations" of usage. I *feel* that I will use less than is "normal" but we will see.

my kr808d-1 from vaporjunction $30 (includes shipping)
my weekend deal from onestopdiyshop $30 (60ml of 36mg juice, 25ml of LorAnn flavor, etc) (includes shipping)
I smoke lights, and about a half pack a day (mileage varies daily, today, I have smoked 5) Will cut that down to 15mg, then most likely take and create lower strength "samples" to test with. Measuring and mixing are second nature to me, I cheffed (holy cow, that's a word!)for 20 years, and I love cooking for a hobby as well. So, the idea of infinite variations are a huge draw for DIM (doing it myself).

So, where was I? Oh, ok, so $72 spent on pure basics.
I dropped $12 at Perfumers Apprentice for some things I could not find anywhere else and *had* to have them, and I am dying to try out her stuff, and if it's good, I am hooked for life :).
I will have 144ml of nicotine base (making 15mg per ml). At an 80/20 mix (80% base, 20% flavor) and the baseline of 3ml per day is 2.4ml of juice and .6ml of flavor 144/2.4= 60 days of vape juice.

How did I reach that?
36mg per ml in 60ml of base
36x60=2160
2160/target mg per ml (in my case, 15mg per ml) = 144
I will need to add 84ml of plain base (vg or pg or mix of those) to my 60ml of nic juice to get my target level.

Bear in mind, I have only spent $72 of my budget. If I smoke 1/2 pack per day, those two cartons would have lasted me 40 days. I am so far, 10 days ahead, and $50 to the positive. I can smoke more (stress days) which would be less days, making my savings more.

My kit comes with 5 prefilled cartomizers (I've no clue how long those will last, or, I may just give them to my son, or, I may clean them out and fill it with my mix, dunno yet.) I need to purchase some empty cartomizers for my mixes, and I want some spare parts. I can still spend my $50 and *still be ahead!

Regardless of all these numbers, I am saving my health. I already know what kind of an end I will have, watched my mom die of congestive heart failure (they blamed her smoking even though she stopped 40 years prior), and the sooner I stop these killers, the better off I will be, and that's worth it to me. I am sick of going outside in the blistering heat and melting while trying to have a smoke. I am sick of the icky smell on my clothes and the smell on my fingers, I gotta wash my hands after a ciggie. My doctor won't nag me anymore about it. Well, maybe suggest NA (narcotics anonymous) BWWAAHAHAHA!!!

I am pretty confident I have made a wise decision with it. I expect I will make a lot of mistakes and that is what happens to anything new...lol, I am cool with screwing up.

The more I explore it, the more I think this would be an awesome brick and mortar opportunity. Call it "Vapor Trails" or something cool.....hmmmm

not to be blunt, but a heavy smoker who wants no hassles should go straight to a HV mod. Get a prodigy v3 or something similar, some cartomizers and some juice. Unfortunately juice is preference so get some samples, but almost anyone whos tried it likes johnsons creek, I suggest the black cherry. See if you can return your ecig (most places have a 7-30 day return policy). Best of Luck!

Spending more on these devices vs. smoking analogs actually holds true in my opinion. I think they should stop advertising it as a cheaper alternative. Healthier? Most likely. Cheaper? I dont think so.

having said that I can 100% say that am not disappointed at all, because the thought of not having to deal with the many hazards of smoking analogs overthrows the expenses factor that i have to deal with in maintaining vaping.

I also see it as a new hobby rather than an alternative. Trying out many models, cleaning every nook of each device, disassembing and assembling parts, polishing chrome finishes, trying out flavor combinations... they all work for me :D

I sure do hope you enjoy them at one point in time, when you get to change your view of it. I cant blame you though, because i think you were misinformed of what vaping and e-cigs were all about in the first place.
