I am getting so frustrated that i spent all this money on them only to find out that they are second rate at best.
Since you have a 510, you are off to the right start.
Do NOT take any advice that says to buy something different right now.

So the next thing we need to find out is if you have automatic or manual batteries?
Automatic batteries can be a HUGE source of frustration.

As far as second rate, not a chance.
Once you learn how to use it, you'll likely find it far superior to smoking.

But really, you haven't told us anything at all about what problems you're having.
You're going to have to tell us more so we can help you fix those problems.

If you are a newbie and considering getting them....DON'T! I'm so mad about this whole thing...i wish i had never let myself get this kit!
Any newbies listening, please ignore this advice.
This would be the worst advice anyone ever gave you in your entire life.

In fact, this advice could actually kill you.

Found my Happy-Place...

Premium Cartos @6v, Prodigy V2, and Chuck as a backup (assuming I don't drop Ye Ol' Chuck on the concrete and have to have the switch fixed yet again).

Now I just buy cartos, and juice, whilst not buying "battery units", just batteries if they ever stop charging, just not yet. I have 6 sets of batteries, I think.

I would say if I could go back, I would have bought a mod for my first e cig. Something that puts out clouds of vapor and works great from the get go. I would have then got batteries, attys, juice and been set for awhile. Right now I am trying to save up to either get a glv or a chuck. I got a protege but it doesn't work most of the time and I'm done with it.

I have to agree with what everyone else here is telling you. The initial costs seem like a lot to pay upfront, but in the long run you save money as the price of regular cigarettes keep escalating. Also, you are lucky, the model you started out with is one of the most popular models for beginning vaping. The e cigs do take a bit of time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it you will be hooked. As a few others suggested, in the meantime, smoke your regular cigarettes and vap, slowly cutting down over the next few weeks, month. You will be less frustrated that way and can ease in to it.

You found this forum early and there are so many here to help you. You can learn what and what not to do from the git-go. Is it worth it? Yes, definitely. No more stinky clothes, hair, you won't harm others with second hand smoke. Your walls won't turn yellow or brown, you won't have stains on your fingers and teeth from tar, and the best part of it is you will breathe easier and your health will improve. It's a win-win situation in my book. ;-)

I can tell you I've spent waaaay more then $150. I'm afraid if I actually figure up a grand total I will end up divorced. I'm unemployed, my benefits just ran out, and no matter what I do 1/2 my stuff is broken. I finally restocked my batteries, got them yesterday. Today my charger quit. Smoking cigarettes was easy, everything worked consistantly. HOWEVER, it sucked, it stunk, it will kill me and others around me. I can't and won't go back.

I too, am just starting and have spent about $150.00 on a starter kit, extra juice, and just recieved a usb pass thru. The pass thru works quite well and should really save on the batteries. I've gone from a pack and half to maybe 10 cigs without really trying to quite. Just have to wait and see how far I can go with these e-cigs.

spent 200 at the mall kiosk at first, then i found this forum that same week, at the end of that week i had a vaporking kit with cartos, and also an ego kit in the mail (about 350 total) got that and realized i loved the ego, now 3 weeks later i got 8 egos and a bunch of 5ml juice and finally found my groove with ego, cartos and max ultimate juice and only 2 vendors, one for juice, one for parts. all in all very satisfied because in the older days i would eat ramen soup all the time just so i could afford cigarettes for the week, so my nicotine addiction takes priority and is worth the money spent. if i can make 10 cartos last a month refilling and 1 30ml bottle of juice last a month then we're talkin 30-35 bux a month. i can even pass my old vaporkings to family members to see if they can pick up on vaping as well and drop analogs.

Just remember that we all smoked for years and years.

This is something NEW, and takes some time to get used to.

I remember when I first started how frustrated I was....

A blu, a sidesho, a 510, an M401, a Kr808, various mods....when does it end?

..and then I realized, I'm not smoking.

That's just gotta be good enough for me.

:)

Amen! If this gets me off analogs, I am willing to spend the money.

I have been trying this for a few months and so far, here is the run down:

Let's see, I spent $70 for the first kit I bought at the Truck Stop near my office. It was ok, but not great and did not replace the analog. Spent $60 on the second kit from another Convenient store in town, again, ok but not quite "it". Meanwhile spending $5 PER PACK ON ANALOGS.
Finally got online and found this forum, puresmoker.com and cignot.com , spent another $120 between these two and voila, I am vaping not smoking and a very happy vaping camper. Plus the fact that my family is all for the experimental shopping if it gets me off cigarettes for good.

Don't give up. It is a worthy investment.

Oh yeah, I forgot the Vapor4Life purchase of $30 ish .
BTW I love my Pink V4L Case.

I just need to know that i'm not alone. I spent 75.00 on the E-cig kit, Another 50 dollars on getting carts and e-liquid. Now i find that i need to spend another 25 dollars for Attys? Good night! Am i really saving that much money on these things? Plus the aggravation of dripping and blowing and batteries and cleaning. I'm down to my last REAL cigarette and i can tell you that i wish someone had warned me that e-cigarettes are more hassle than they are worth. Plus just as expensive as cigarettes. I am getting so frustrated that i spent all this money on them only to find out that they are second rate at best. If you are a newbie and considering getting them....DON'T! I'm so mad about this whole thing...i wish i had never let myself get this kit!

I've had second thoughts also, but just recently realized (with the help of the nice people in this forum, naturally) that a lot of the aggravation was self-induced.

My first eCig was a SmokeStik (RN4081 model). The atomizers died quickly, so I switched to the Cartomizers, which also had a quality control problem. Some of them would last only about an hour of vaping, and were more expensive. The best thing about that one was that it gave me an idea of the advantages of vaping over smoking, both health-wise and financially.

About that time I discovered the Tasty Vapor website, and Geoff really helped me along the path to vapor enlightenment, both with some nice ejuice at a good price, and advice. He also introduced me to the 510 model, a Joye knockoff they offer, but for about half the price of the real thing. Geoff warned me that they weren't as good as the real Joyes, but good to try for a while. And Hey, for a $25 starter kit, I agree.

The FL 510 kept me going for a few weeks, which was much better than the SmokeStik, easier and more economical to refill. But, being a Joye 510 knockoff, these atomizers also had a short life.

Today, I just received my genuine Joye 510 from the WordUp Ecig Super Store (I really like the free shipping) and have discovered why people brag on them so much. Taste and vapor volume are what I have been looking for, but the bottom line is that they just work, and work well.

With the others, what started out with a small box of stuff now covers my entire four foot wide coffee table. Dead carts, unused SmokeStik stuff, bags of poly fiberfill from WalMart and boxes of Fluval from PetSmart, Q-tips and pipe cleaners, bottles, and . . . well, you get the picture.

Right now I'm looking forward to just enjoying my eCig with a cup of tea or coffee, and all the other times I loved a cigarette, instead of the major supply and maintenance operation that has dominated my extra time over the past several weeks. But with my better breathing without the smoker's wheeze, the smelly ash tray, the burn holes in my clothes and everything I have smelling like the ash tray, I have to say that it was, and is, well worth the effort. I'll never go back to analogs again, unless they ban eCigs. Even then I'll probably find the plans to build my own, and make my own ejuice, too.

My sincere thanks to all the Forum members, vaporers and merchants that have made it possible for me to give up tobacco after over 40 years of 2 or 3 packs a day! And to Hell with the FDA and their shilling for the tobacco and pharmaceutical corporations, who are going to be losing the money we vaporers are not going to be spending on their cigarettes or nicotine gum and patches any more.

I'll be posting my reply to the FDA on a new thread shortly, and I hope you all will tell me what you think about it.

I researched (mostly on these forums) before buying. I bought the KR808D-1, a 2 piece unit. No atomizer, it's built into a disposable cartridge. When the cartridge is empty, I put another one on and viola, smoking again in seconds. I save the empties and refill them later at my convenience.

Initial purchase:
2 XL 380 mah batteries: $30
1 USB charger : $05
1 PCC (travel charger) : $15
10 cartridges : $11
One 10ml bottle juice : $05

Total investment : $66
Value: 35 packs of smokes worth @ $6.00 each or $210
Money saved not buying Camel Wides: $144 going toward my vacation

Here's some of the crap I tried:

[you tube video]

LOVED your video! I'm *so there* w/ buying the juices, heh (and I'm only on Day 6 of ecigs, but am trying my blamed best to find that perfect juice).

I just got a shipment from a highly-respected vendor of 16mg menthol PGs (several 'flavors' of menthol, all PG, all 16mg), but I'm not as happy w/ it as I thought I'd be. The "taste" inhaling is fine (menthol cigarette yummy goodness--no sweet crap); the vapor amount fine, the TH is there, ...but it leaves an oily taste/flavor in my mouth, unlike the cignot sample bottles I originally started with!

I'm adding a drop or two of the 26 mg cignot VG to each cart now; it helps with the aftertaste oil slick. (So I jumped back on the cignot juice bandwagon in an embarrassingly big way tonight, various nic levels -- at least I KNOW that stuff, and hopefully can use it to bust up the "oily"-tasting juices.

But ***what is that oil taste***?! Why didn't the cignot juice have it?

(In your video you mentioned Tabasco sauce! LOL! I haven't tried vaping that, but I sure as hell tried that in reg. cig filters once to MAKE myself stop smoking, YEARS ago. Man, that sucked! Thought I'd need a new throat! LOL!)

Ya the Tabasco thing is a little like eating a teaspoon of cinnamon (Don't do it). But I never really want to talk about that experience.

I don't now about a bad after taste. I haven't had one yet.

I go for menthol flavors. I've tried others now like RY4 and some of the Johnson Creek stuff and universally those flavors are nice... but only for about ten minutes and then they are too much.

The best menthol I've had is the Intellicig Menthol from ECOpure which I got through cignot.com. Sadly, they only have 24mg or 10mg available and I vape 18mg. However- there's no throat hit it's 100% VG. I'll prolly buy a couple of bottles of this and then mix it down to 18mg. But it won't be a morning or after meal vape.

I got hold of some Strictly E-Juice Menthol medium 18mg. This is good. But it gets a bit sweet for me. Excellent throat hit. But again- too sweet. So I mixed it down with 18mg pure unflavored VG from Viking Vapor and it's just fine for me.

At this point, based on my tastes, Cignot's ECOpure line (100% VG) and 100% PG from Viking Vapor seem the best to me. Non-flavored or menthol work for me with either of those brands.

My other concerns with the really rich flavors are:

1. What am I inhaling. Are the flavorings going to set off an allergy. I'm allergic to everything.

2. I tend to not vape constantly with juice that tastes pleasing, but doesn't taste like a steak dinner or chocolate.

3. I like the taste of nicotine... flavors get in the way :)

4. Some of the one's I have tried have been really interesting... but a number of "Smoke Flavors" from various vendors taste like..... bacon.... at least to me. And although I love bacon I do not want to smoke it :)

5. Premium juices from Johnson Creek and others are WAAAAY tooo flavorful for me. I have an atomizer that tastes like ... well.... mentholated bacon.... with my menthol juice.

I just want to say that as a disclaimer that Johnson Creek seems to make a fantastic product. I just have a weird preference for Juice.

Currently I'm vaping a 50/50 mix of Strictly E-Juice medium menthol and Viking Vapor 18mg pure unflavored PG. It's almost just about right for me. Although I like the unflavored straight 18mg PG as well.

So no bad tastes- except for the "bacon incident" and the "Tabasco Incident".

I also have to say that even more subjective than the hardware performance we all talk about on the forums, the juices are even more subjective. It took me a while to find juice I liked vaping, and now I'm refining it. At some point through trial I'll find something that someone makes and I won't be a chemist anymore.

Mileage may vary :p

I have update this. I really thought the attys were dead. I tried the vodka, boiling soda water, Everclear methods of cleaning, with no success.

Then someone suggested the "Smoker's Polident" (ironic, isn't it?) 15 minute version. One tablet added to the hot water with attys, 30 minutes cleans, 90 minutes loosens the paint. Dry however you like. 4 to 6 drops of eJuice and a little while puffing to bring it back.

I resurrected 6 "dead" attys from the knock off 510. A couple actually were dead. But it does work.

I'v been at it about 1.5 weeks. The first day I had some trouble and came here. Turned out my atty had to be broken in and blu has some cart issues. by the 4th day I vaped myself into a nicotene headache. I couldn't put the thing down!! Started ordering juices right away. Have an ear infection now and if vaping has nothing to do with it I'll be happily vaping again shortly. My experience is read read read!! Know your product inside out and it will be second hand shortly

ask people here how many of them bought one bad PV after another until they did more research.

I bought one of those $150 mistakes. Luckily, I found ECF the day it arrived in the mail, and was able to get good information with any questions I had answered quickly. Luckily the company had a 30 day money back guarantee and I was able to recoup my loss. I ended up getting an eGo/Tornado, some tasty juices, and some DIY mixing supplies. I'm loving vaping and I'm still not smoking.

My total investment, including gear and enough juice for at least 2-3 months, is somewhere around $350. That's about 2 months of cigarettes for me.

You've found ECF now and you've seen how helpful everyone is. Hang in there. We'll sort you out. :)

My expenses for my 510 from Awesome Vapor are minimal, less than a tank of gas. First you have to WANT to quit smoking for your own reasons, if it's FOR someone else your going to mad. My cigarette smoking habit was costing me $50.00 a week if I bought cartons at the right place. I've spent alot more trying the ejuice flavors by MY choice. My house cost over $300,000.00 and is now worth $120,000.00 That my friend is a bad investment. Oh ya I did the math, Ive smoked well over....................25,000 packs cigarettes. If you do decide to go back to cigarettes at least buy some stock in rj reynolds so you can get a return on your investment, I wish I did.

Stick with it. The savings are measured in your health. Yes, it is a lot of hassle at first till you get your routine down so that it is just another part of your day. make specific times when you recharge batteries. have enough chargers, usually two wall adapters and a USB charger, enough batteries to last at least two days, and enough e-juice and/or cartomizers to last a month. Order regularly , keeping an eye on sales and promo codes, and have enough variety in flavor and nicotine strength to satisfy your addiction.
Seems like a lot of work but you only get out of it what you put in. The learning curve is steep but patience and attention to the changes that occur in your taste and addiction will lead to a satisfying substitute for smoking.
I know that it is all too easy to run down to the store and buy a pack of smokes. You really need to take focus on why you have bought e-cigs and what your expectations are.
Many of us on this forum have faced the same question , on whether it is worth it or not, but we always come back to the key factor of health and the ability to partake of our favorite habit just about anywhere and whenever we like.
Remember that we all used to smoke and are addicted to nicotine, and have no desire to give it up. If we did we wouldn't put the effort into vaping.

Good luck , and may God grant you the patience to get off analogs!!
