I have the CM version...Perhaps not a necessity, but I love it...Works great using to install coils, check resistance, and dry fire the coils... Haven't used the voltage drop feature... I didn't see the Geekvape version when I bought mine about 3 months ago....

Well, bummer. I thought you might be able to power it via the micro usb charging port without a battery inside, but I just tried it with no luck. The display lights up, but none of the functions work. I don't mind using a battery, but it would be cool if you could use it both ways. :(
The amp draw would simply be too high. These will fire down to .1 ohms, right? That's too low for any single 18650 battery (staying within the battery cdr). IMO, these should really take two batteries. Be careful with what batteries you use as the tabs are basically mech mods.

I have the Coil Master 521 from My Vapor StoreCoilMaster 521 Tab Ohm Meter Coil RBA Deck but have seen them cheaper but they were different than the one I got so I think they were clones, the writing on the side was different, on mine the logo is sunk into the plastic deep, the cheaper ones also didn't have the writing on the top, Ill post links521 Tab by Coil Master, I like my coil master, its great for trimming rayon and dry-firing coils, makes a mess firing a wet coil:vapor:

Great point. I believe Paul is correct that they only fire down to .2 (never tried it, myself), but that's still a lot of amps. I try to keep my builds at .5 ohm and up, and I use an LG HG2 in mine, so no big deal, but you definitely want to keep an eye on things, if you like super low ohm builds.:blink:

So, what did you do @sawlight , did you get one yet? I keep looking at these, and I think I've talked myself into one. :)

I've talked myself into one, for sure! It's on the "short list" of things to get. Just having to juggle finances around and save my pennies, but I will be getting one in the near future!
Thanks to all for such great input!
