Anybody Using A Kabuki?

OK, can someone explain the Cisco Spec coils to me before I try one? When I look down inside, I see a small coil and a tiny bit of wicking. Then inside the juice holes is an inner housing of some sort with a slight gap between the housing and the outside of the coil, and the wick sort of flairs up above the inner housing. How does that work? I get that one has to prime coil. But after that burns offs how does the juice get up to the coil? Just doesn't look right to me. But then what do I know?
Astro, the Kabukis are great. They'll spoil you on using the others. I've got tons of tanks sitting around here collecting dust.

As for your questions on the ohmage........ I tend to go fo the higher ones with the Aspires. No reason, really, but with regulated devices (as most of us use, I believe) it's no biggie to change the power. All these coils are going to change up their numbers anyway.
But I'm not as concerned about the numbers as some peeps are.

Hey, Kat, no problem. I have no regrets. This is fun. I will admit I tend to fret over the numbers more than I should. Just made that way, I guess?
So the inner housing holds what I call the secondary wick on the stock bvc coils. If you were to disassemble a stock coil by removing the bottom pin and insulator then push the coil and wick out the top there will be a thin wrap of cotton captured inside this housing. My guess is it's there to keep the wicking material pressed against the holes. Since the Cisco coils are the bdc design they're not needed. The juice just flows around them.
Thanks for the tidbit on the wicking material — much appreciated. I have ordered one of each. The flavors I vape are very similar to what you vape, and I too do not have any fruit flavors.
So here's my take on the Cisco Spec coil (that I tried)...
Flavor was Excellent! Better than the stock coils. Vape was superior at 1.2 ohms, much better than the stock 1.6 ohm coils I normally use. But....
There IS a "fiddle factor" involved. As stated on their web site, juice flow is reduced when the tank is full due to the vacume. I found I was constantly covering the air intake on my Kabuki and taking primer pulls until the tank was 1/2 or less full. By then it wicked well. This was with a 50/50 blend of my Mega Minty Menthol Madness. For me, it just wasn't worth the aggravation and I took it out after 1 day and went back to my 1.6 ohm stock coil. Sure, I could have (and did) make it work by tightening up my air flow and then opening it up as the tank emptied but that just goes against the trouble free nature of the Kabuki. On an actual Nautilus it's probably not an issue because of the air flow ring...

I received my Kabuki earlier this week. I like the flavor I am getting.
I think I need a GMZ one though.

I have enough nautilus coils fir about a year. And i do like the flavour and its lack of snap, crackle and pop... And the kfl+ is great at its best, but i still find it a bit hit and miss when wicking.
1. I guess i could get a few years worth of nauti coils ahead of time... Since i do worry post deeming if aspire will still be around
2. Am I just not dedicated enough to use the kfl more? (Using the prebuilt coils feels like a cop out, but i know thats goofy thinking... Since uts just time versus ease etc)
3. Wasting money...
4. Reduced juice capacity
It looks like a very elegant well made tank, and the improved flavour would be great... And barring the nautilus coils drying up, probably a sound investment...

I could have written this! I think the kayfun may just have the edge if it's perfectly wicked but it can take me some time to get this right and I don't always have the time (or want to spend it on tweaking). The Kabuki is so easy - I am still using the same coil I put in on the 20th August (1 refill minimum a day) and it's showing no sign of needing a change (I do use unflavoured, high pg but even so...). I think it's a lot better than the nautilus and I am stocking up on coils (and probably another Kabuki) because it is the best faff free tank I've ever bought. Given the cost I did have to give it some thought but I am so glad I took the plunge. Kayfuns will still be there if I run out of coils
Totally agree with Kates...I did hesitate before buying as I had already spend quite some money on an expensive mod...but I was glad I did...a few days after I received it I bought a second one...and I think I will go for a third one once my vaping budget recovers from the shocks it has endured lately

I bought a couple and I tried the Avid nauti coils months ago. Only used one, for a day or less. Reminded me of using an ancient 510. Plus it got harsh really fast---and I abandoned, not willing to go through the trouble and effort of "fiddling" or learning how to fiddle.
This renewed spurt of delight may get me to find the second coil and give it another chance.

That is true. Pretty much my thought with juice too, i am still getting premixed flavoured from the vendors i like until i either switch to DIY because of want or sheer necessity. So i guess worst case i get a few years of coils, and then if there's no more i still have the kayfuns
