Happy to be... Not Smoking!!!
Hi I am fairly new to ecf and this is my first post. What a great community. I have a question, but first about me and what I vape:
Quit ciggs over a year ago (smoked since I was 16 and am 68 now) using the cheap disposables and have spent way to much moving up the ladder of quality. I had early stage 1 COPD, and now that I have been off the ciggs for a year, my latest full pulmonary function test had me much improved to very low early stage...not even stage 1! So I can tell everyone that my pulmonary doc (one of the best where I live) told me to keep on vaping because my lungs sound better, and everything else had improved. He has had six patients in the last 8 months quit by vaping when nothing else would work.

Currently using a ProVari P3 and will probably get the new Radius next month. I really enjoy the quality of ProVape equipment. I have been using only aspire nautilus with 1.8 BVC coils and they have worked well. I have been running into a few leaking problems along with junk in the atty that is difficult to clean, so I just purchased a new Kabuki 510 and it is much better so far than the nautilus, both for flavor and draw. Time will tell, but with the true SS I believe it will last a very long time, and clean up better.

Why did I decide to buy the Kubuki - Because of this site and the long video on Youtube describing SS versus chrome plated brass for the aspire. I just felt I wanted the best quality metal and build for my atty. I am not a cloud chaser, but rather go for the flavor and nicotine hit. I use .6 to .9 now.

The question for anyone using a similar setup is what settings are you finding work best as a general guide?

On the ProVari P3 when using the Nautilus and 1.8 BVC coils I ran it about 11.6W to get to 4.7V with 1-Boost and that was ok. With the new Kabuki I am finding a better flavor and draw at 11.4W to get to 4.7 volts, but stepped up the boost to 2. Airflow is set pretty wide open.

Thank you for a great site and I look forward to contributing more over time! :)
Welcome Aboard!!!

Sounds pretty good to me! I'm at 11.2 watts and boost 3. But 1.6 ohm coils (really read around 1.7 or 1.8.)

And everyone else - Here's the pics if my poly tank id. Zen's measured right at this as well, just like he said. ***scratches head*** lol.

I'll get to the bottom of it...

I have been an off again/on again vaper since 2008. The last two years I have been smoking analogs because I just couldn't find a decent vape. I have an arsenal of vape gear going back to the dawn of vaping. I was a 6v silver bullet maptank vaper and that worked for me. They stopped making those ce2v4 in the stainless tubes and I limped along with cartos and vivi nova/kanger pro tanks. The boge cartos were okay but a hassle to deal with after a while. The protank/vivi nova/iclear30/etc tanks all sucked to me. I went back to analogs and was miserable.

When the subohm thing started, I thought why not, I tried a kbox and a couple of kanger tanks. They sucked really bad. I didn't understand the subohm thing at the time. I just thought less resistance meant I could lower my voltage. I am a mouth to lung vaper.

I was in the vape shop with a friend and on a whim I bought a nautilus tank. I came up and plugged in the bvc coil and popped it on an old provari. I couldn't believe it. It was actually a decent vape. Not the best, but good enough for me to try and quit analogs again. I hated the look of the tank so I started looking around. I have other HOH stuff (couple of zatty pros, zenesis, etc) so I looked up what was going on with HOH. I found the kabuki tank and it looked great.

I ordered a provari p3 and a kabuki.......

Hands down, this is the perfect vape that I have been searching for. I have spent years looking for the perfect blend of flavor, throat hit, vapor.... I am blown away. This tank is amazing.

I work multiple IT jobs and I sit most of the day. Around 16 hours. My vice is nicotine. I don't really drink, drug, coffee, or anything else. I have to have nicotine. Of course you can't smoke anywhere anymore. To have a cigarette, I would have to leave work and drive somewhere. Everyone in the office is a smoke nazi. It is difficult to stay focused and be productive when you are addicted to nicotine and can't take a smoke break. This setup has changed that. I can now stealth vape in my office and not have to drive across town for a smoke.

I just wanted to give zen a heart felt thank you. This has not only made my life more comfortable, but it has been about a week and a half off of analogs and I feel fantastic. Not many products can claim that kind of life enhancing impact. I will be ordering two more provari p3s and two more kabuki tanks Nov1.

Thanks Zen!

PS, are you going to make anymore kabuki z2 carto tank converters? I see they are out of stock at electronicstix....

This. It's all about this. Thank you for sharing!

Welcome back and welcome home :)

In your opinion,

Do you think it's the Orings or Coil threading causing the tight fit?

Thanks, Jim

I think its the orings/ metal part not the coil. Had to use the wrech again today even though i've rubbed the orings with juice. But you know.. Fir the flavour ease and classiness i am prepared to cut it some slack.

Also, at the end of this horrid work day at the car dealership, my p3 and kabuki dropped onto a hard tile floor, from a seat.. So maybe half a foot... Anyways i was sure i would pick it up smashed... Nope, so hurrah fir that!

And thank goodness its friday. I rarely ever feel like that but gee whizz.

Welcome back and welcome home :)

I'm a web developer who right now at least works from home all the time. I do have coffee as another vice, but not much else these days.

Thank you for telling your story. It's really nice to hear of happiness and success, congrats! @crixer

Did you check in multiple spots to see if it's out of round? I would check the o-rings for any flat spots and the I.D. of the tube as well. If anything you could always make another tank from a different section of your tubing stock to see if you can get a tighter I.D.

I was worried about breakage, as I broke a tank the first day I got it, but now after a few months of daily use, I still haven't broken another, and I pocket carry it, toss it in a drawer at work and have had it roll around in the car after getting loose during performance driving...

OK - Finished first fill - It is great but going through juice faster...that is ok because it is more enjoyable. I noticed others having problems refilling. I coated both O-Rings with juice before and am able to remove without the allen wrench; however, it is a little harder than with the nautilus. Happy so far. I want to give this a bit of time and then I will buy more of the Kabuki's, probably next month when I order the Radius.

Thanks for all the responses and suggested settings.

Definitely the O rings/glass. Coil stays in when I take the device apart.

The replacement tank went on smoother than the original that came with. I also put more liquid on the Orings before reassembling. It very well could be that I didn't use enough the very first time of use. This time I drowned the suckers. Wiped the excess off the metal parts only (that I would have to handle putting it back together).

Still playing with it ;)

I can vape that puppy damned near dry.

I really like that aspect, yes pretty small tank but you can use all of it without worrying about gurgles or burps or spits or sweats

Brilliant post - well done - it must be fantastic to be zen and read something like this because I know how good it makes me feel as just a fellow vaper. :)

Seems like your issue is different - but my roommate's coils on his nautilus mini last him like 2-3 days MAX. I think it's a combination of two factors: his ADV and his inhaling. His ADV only lasted me about a week and my coil was nasty. Also, he takes very heavy drags, and I think straight to lung. It causes dry burns right away. I keep telling him it's not intended for that and slow/steady wins the race. He's too ignorant to listen, so I let him waste money on coils lol

Whenever I get a new flavor he wants to hit my tank - I cringe and get worried everytime. I casually make excuses so he doesn't try my flavors. I'm convinced he inhales like he's trying to suck a baseball out of a hose.
Nah,coils used to last me a week, now 2 days and they stink...i started out with a nautilus mini, all the coils that don't fit the Kabuki still fit the nautilus mini i have..
I just rebuilt my kayfun and it's not quite the same flavour, maybe 80%,but a heck of a lot less aggravation.

Posts like that are the whole reason I do this. And in the past year or so I've read more posts about flavor and vapor production than gratitude.

People get angry at me when I say that vaping never should have become a competitive sport, but I feel the only competitions in vaping should be who can live the longest because they quit smoking.
