Thank you for this very comprehensive outline, Zen. It's great information.

I did not recall what you exact instructions were, regarding the Stealth, but remembered that you weren't supposed to do SOMETHING (I just did not recall what that something was, and I hope I was clear on that).

Now, if you can, is it possible to explain the resiliency of the basic satin silver finish? That's obviously something different from the CeraKote, which is used for at least some of the colors (black, for sure). It boggles my mind that my four-year-old satins look almost brand new, and would love to know why that is the case.

I'm thinking others might too.
Because your mod's, (Provari) are 316 SS and 316 SS doesn't chip.;) That, and the 316 is thru and thru, not just a few thou. thick.
The paint will wear, particularly on sharp corners, and chip easily on sharp corners. The stainless will continue to look pretty much the same. And if it does wear, a quick bead blast will have it looking like new!

Knife.
I think Zen and I have a difference of opinion of what DLC stands for. (Diamond Like Coating). can be tungsten based. Cobalt based, and a few others. I could list a dozen combos used in the machine tool industry, but it would be meaning less to most here. If it is in anyway superior to DLC, the High Speed, High Precision exotic. metal working industry would love to hear of it. Including AeroSpace! ;) And yes, it is Nano. All such coatings are!

DLC is simply a description of the resulting finish. , Not the name of the process. Zen himself said it is "Next to Diamond" in hardness. Which in my mind, describes DLC. Diamond Like Coating. I'm a little lost too what Zen is saying here. Bet NASA would be interested....Along Willy WaChang, Raytheon, Thiokol. My Neighbors here, SpaceX, and a host of others. I woudn't be wasting my time with mods and Addy's If I had such superior technology!

Sounds like ZenKote is a trademark or patent. If I am wrong, the metallurgist in me wants to know what in Heck it is! Is Zen now making Synthetic Diamonds? LOL!!!:)
Whatever it is, it's good Stuff!!!;)
Update, I just looked up Zenkote, there is indeed a trademark, and patent on it. But it has nothing to do with the Zenkote we are talking about here. It is a coating to prevent oxidation, (tarnishing) of metal under paint.
Now this is confusing!

But the satins aren't normal SS (I've plenty of those, non Provi). There is SOME type of coating on them, but it's almost impervious to damage. At least that's what appears to be the case with the two I own (not counting the X number of Ti's, which appear to be the same finish).

I'm running around 3boost, how long do you find your coil last?
Well, the stock Nautilus coils last me 15mls. No BOOST on the stock coils.
The HH rebuilds I clean every two Kabuki tank fills with very hot running tap water and dry burn. With a flavor change (30mls), I run the extremely hot tap water through them for the same 30 seconds but soak it in Everclear for at least 2 hours before dry burn. I can't say how long those coils last me as I run them until the wire snaps.

It is a media blasted finish, as far as I know.

I have two 2.5's here that are satin in finish. One I've had for over 3 years, and not a scratch on it.

I use it in the field, in the shop, where ever and not a scratch on it. Yes, it's been dropped a few times.

The finish is Glass Bead Blasted. If it ever does scratch, all I have to do is go into the shop, tape off all areas I don't want blasted, and simply redo it.
Couldn't be happier with it!:)

I love the GMZ finish. Just bought the last 2.5 GMZ that popped up briefly on Provape's site, also have a GMZ P3 in the shoebox and a GMZ mini I bought from Zen.

One thing I am curious about...my GMZ mini weighs about 89g, and a satin mini weighs 102g. Why is the GMZ so much lighter?

I always find B1 might be too short for that boost, do you find B3 gives too much burn taste?

I find I lose flavor at higher boost.

My goal is to get the coil to temp just a little faster.

I am using light fairly high PG content juices.

Still playing around with boost.

My thinking is it works best at low Wattage settings.

I would definitely drop the Wattage if I was running more boost.

Yeah, that BOOST function is kind of a funny, but nice luxury to have if one wants to use it. Depends on the juice, coil and wattage you're using. I won't use it on the new style Nautilus cotton coils as it is to easy to inadvertently singe the cotton (for me, 'cause I suck). On the HH rebuilds I usually run it at 2B but have had it as high as 4B. This morning I had it at 1B. It all depends...
Personal preference. Good to seek out other experiences and advice. It's why we are here, after all.

Probably just as well, since you were around 9f this morning too. Oblivion equals happiness, in cases such as today's temperature.

I wish my dog cared about that stuff as much as I do. 15 minutes outside this morning, while she sniffed every bit of the frozen tundra.

I thought I was going to :censored: die.
It's even cold here in NC, and today my best jackets zipper opened from the middle with the zipper up top near my neck :(:nah:
