yeah. Other than deeming, possibly ruining the Kabuki, that sharp edge is the one serious Kabuki defect in my opinion. Don't know why it wasn't smoothed out.

I found out the hard way myself just how sharp that was :( and you would think after you got yourself on it once you would never do it again... but no

A paper towel wrap or a rubber grip negates the hazard. The new silicone rings make it a lot easier, but if you have the older rings... just grab a piece of paper towel and twist it off. You can also use the supplied tool. Insert in the air adjustment screw and turn. If the tank is new lube the rings with juice.
I have a similar wound from an earlier engagement with the Kabuki.

Welp, same road, but slightly differing forks, ck. My permanent scar is on the next knuckle. Tonite's adventure in Kabuki Land were amusing, to say the least. Not even the grip of a nitrile glove could pry that bottom cap off. It took all my strength and a ZenWrench to get that thang freed.

The VERY next step was to replace the standard O-ring with a siliconia. Damm, those things are wonderful!! Anyone want a thousand standard Kabuki O-rings? (just joking...... sort of.) ;)

I'm starting to wonder if we are ever going to hear from @Zen~ again, I was hoping something extra special would hit the streets before my B-day...

Were your ears burning? Or were those mine...... Not 10 minutes after you posted this, and with no time on ECF, I asked the identical question.

So, @Zen~, where ya be? How's trix? What's new? We miss you!

I didn't smoke in high school (at least not ever in front of anyone). I started sneaking smokes from my dad when I was a junior, but didn't buy my first pack until I graduated. My high school had a huge circle in the front where the smokers congregated. There were as many teachers in that circle as there were students. I wasn't kewl then. I'm not kewl now. I didn't inherit the kewl gene.

You, dahlink, are MUEY kool. Always have been, always will be. <wub>

JUST to clear the record, the 80's (similar to the 70's version).

Regarding Band-Aids and Kabukis, it's a well documented fact that they're known to be a bit dangerous. The best of us always are, are they/we not?

From Zen's blog...

>

Sometimes a customer just cracks us up...
8-6-2015 ~ There are those times when events are just plain funny... such is the case with a customer that is sending a unit in for service, and the postal service decided it needs to go on tour instead of get here for the repair...

We have been tracking it for days, when suddenly, it appears in the 'burbs of Chicago... The customer feels the need to issue a warning about it's whereabouts:

"News reports today, from Elk Grove, IL, indicate a rogue Kabuki tank that is wreaking havoc in the community. An All-Points-Bulletin has been issued, but please be on the looking for this unarmed-yet-still-dangerous fugitive tank. It is well known to have a very sharp air control valve, and has been attacking the index fingers of anyone who tries to approach it.

The city is in danger of running out of Band-Aids unless 'Buki can be apprehended without further incident.

Lock your doors and, if you must go outside, keep your eyes peeled LOW. It's a very short tank and can easily surprise the unsuspecting pedestrian without warning.

News 22 will keep you informed as more information becomes available to us, and the National Guard is standing by, in the event such measures are required."

Have any of you gurus rebuilt a Nautilus coil, and by that I mean an old, spent, used, ready-for-the-garbage coil? (I'm not looking for info on the VVTF, just Nautilus coils as they are.)

I've found some old vids, and of course Rip is excellent, but he builds from new, and the interior of his coil does not look like the ones we have now.

I understand how to disassemble it, but my questions have to do with exactly where the coil sits inside the barrel.

Might I pick a brain or two around here?

I tried to re-build them and did get a working coil, but it was no where near as good as a factory coil. The shells are difficult to take apart for starters. Another thing is the rubber grommet that captures the leads, I would not trust strait resistance wire in such a build, too much chance of a hot leg burning the rubber and you get to vape that. The res-no/res wires I have are too thin to make a good vertical coil so the vape had a harsh, somewhat burnt taste to it. I thought about somehow blocking two of the four holes and trying a horizontal coil build in there, but then my PT2 heads are so much easier to re-build I said, why bother. Nauti coils are a convenience item, use and toss.
