Anyone Else Catch a PC Virus from The MS ECF Links?

Awww, MAN!!! I'm already WAY behind in the polls over there, and now people are having crazy issues from clicking my pics!!

I don't know what photobucket is doing, but I do know that the pics I emailed to Rick to put in the photobucket account didn't contain anything crazy. We use linux exclusively and do not get viruses.

Same thing happened to me last week
I didn't click on any links
but I got that unwanted anti-spyware program

I definately got it from ECF

I get this about a unwanted low tracking cookie from ECF. I use Norton.
It does this at lease twice a week. No problem .I just delete it with Norton software. I think it is from ECF,because it only does this when going to ECF.

yeah I re-did my hard drive and put anti virus on since
before I wasn't using protection

but I definately got it from ECF, and it wasn't the missjaxx photobucket link

On my other lap top a couple of weeks ago, I clicked on a site that said you could view the movie "Twilight". Immediately tons of warnings from this av360 trying to get me to buy their software popped up, I kept closing them, but they just came right back. My anti virus software is penicillin. I ran a scan and it did pick it up, but it didn't have a solution.. Usually I can ust delete what it picks up. Ultimately after trying to work with it for 2 days, I was unsuccessful. I found it on my C drive and when I hit the delete button to remove the software it added it didnt work. The screen is blue now. I am going to have to take it to computer geeks maybe they can get it off there.No help with the program to add/remove programs, it was very frustrating.

I am using an old lap top now with several keys missing (you may notice the typos) I can hit them haard and they work but, it doesn't always work.

Anyway, I don't know if ECF was open at the time, I had joined though. I don't know that it was related. Penecillin recommended that I stop all internet traffic, so I did.

Not sure what it was to be honest. I clicked on the link to Miss Jaxx's profile and pictures and I started getting all kinds of pop up windows from Symantec. When I closed photobucket, I had a totally random "Spyware Elimination" program running that would not allow me to stop it. Everything was fine, As I say, until I clicked on Miss Jaxx's profile. I got rid of it without a problem, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Well i can only figure that somebody is hacking you or photobucket has virus's, which i very much doubt with there rep and no how ...its cool that you bought it up that's what this place is for, i don't have a problem with that, but i have gone over my PC with a fine tooth comb, and i anti virused and spywared the whole kit and kabootle and found nothing! ..its very odd

..i don't think anyone else has had a prob with it??

No more than one of each I hope, clashing anti virus is the last thing a PC needs hehe!!!

Holly your pictures are fine, its not a wide spread estemic problem, there's obviously an issue with photobucket itself or with Bri's PC ..i scanned your pic's up hill and down dale and your photo's came up clean. so please don't stress about it, no need ...noone else has mentioned it to me that they were having any probs with it~Rick

I have also been to everyone's links (bios and pics and Ms Jaaxx's video a few times lol!) and had no problem on my PC or on my laptop (which by the way has NO virus protection on it).

Hah! My laptop is empyu of programs and info and is only used for downloading crap I don't want to put on my business computer.

If you are blocking code or script, and the page is waiting for a script reply before it continues... you will hang until the script/web-host gets the desired reply. Eg, you are causing your own problems, or you were previously infected, and the sister-ad on the site is activating the virus-trigger. (Most viruses use multiple exploits, and often require a 1-2-3 combo kill, before they can function.)

More than likely, it was just an ad-tracker, awaiting the return of a blank-image code to return for delivery. (Your security settings blocked it, so you don't get to see what is behind door #1, because you are wearing oven-mitts while trying to turn the door handle.)

Was talking to a guy at work today, he just had his 20yr High school reunion

He got this same virus as well as half of the people at his reunion, all from MA

Could this be a coincidence?

No, it sounds quite likely to me that you will have a virus soon...

Sorry, misinterpreted that as a joke ... Don't know much about viruses, but just googled a bit and there seems to be a virus called Mal Vundo going around A LOT right now that delivers spyware to your computer.

Step away from the COMPUTER!! Throw it away immediately, burn it and put an axe through the hard drive that'll get rid of those pesky viruses!!
