A mod with stainless steel 510 threads and a spring loaded positive pin and an atty with stainless steel 510 threads. Fixed pins and brass sucks. Manufacturers are getting better with the connectors they use, but there's still way too many that still use junk mod/atty connections. Keeping everything clean and not over tightening will help, but in the end FIXED PINS AND BRASS SUCKS!!!

Yeah, had an aluminum mod. It was 901 threaded. Steel attys screwed onto aluminum threads was dangerous. It would strip easily.

Brass and copper are also popular metals they use, and are also soft, easily-stripped metals.

Stainless steel is the way to go for durability.

tl;dr : yeah, it happens. Be careful, don't overtighten, and try not to drop your mod.
