This was the first question that my Mother and my friends asked me when I showed them the Ego I am using. Its annoying to be honest, but they are right. I should not turn this into a multi-year fetish or a rest-of-my-life fetish either. I realize it will be difficult to stop the nicotine altogether, as thats what I am REALLY addicted to, not cigarettes. Thats what has made it so easy to quit smoking is the nicotine in the e-liquid after all.

To some degree we are also psychologically addicted to the act of putting something up to our mouths and taking a drag, then blowing a smoke-like substance out of our mouths, and I dont want to do that forever.

The bottom line is, this is MUCH less unhealthy for us than smoking cigs all day long, but nicotine is still bad for you. I would really like to get off it in the next couple/few months, and I'm sure I'm going to be bugged about it by my family and friends in the mean time!

My plan is to get to "0" as well. Started 2.5 mos ago at 12mg (I was an ultra light smoker who threw away as much as I actually smoked-I hated the taste but I really love the act of smoking itself) went down to 6mg last week with no noticeable difference in cravings. Of course I have about 100ml in sample sizes of 12 mg for back up just in case. I don't want to be addicted to anything any longer. Plus I figure when the gov't starts regulating this stuff which will drive up the prices significantly, I can give it up at that time without dealing with nic withdrawals. I'll still be really pi$$ed off but I won't be in nic withdrawal. (Sorry that's a completely different discussion)

I have quit analog cigs a few times and then dipped tobacco which my wife hated. I once quit everything for two yrs and still started back. Once a smoker always a smoker.
So My answer is I need nic and probably will stay with the e-cigs at 24 mg cuz that's what seems to satisfy and keep me off the other.
I love this stuff. I guess I need hobbies.

Just something to be aware of... though many people do indeed stop smoking and then stop vaping - and many people do indeed get to zero nic e-juice... Nicotine isn't all that easy to avoid in your day to day life.

Tomatoes, potatoes, cauliflower, egg plant, hot peppers, bell peppers, teas, etc etc: lots of things you might consume on a regular basis have some nicotine content.

I started vaping in March of last year at about 12mg then after a few months dropped down to 6mg, the transition was really easy for me.... I then wondered if I could go lower but my main juice vendor only sold 6 mg so I now order nic free juice and add 'nic to taste', this works really well for me as I can go low when I want and if I am having a few beers (traditionally when I crave more nic) I can add a few more drops to stop the craving....

Good luck on your journey, and as we all pretty much agree, whatever works for you is the way to go :)

Honestly i doubt its that hard. I started with 24mg a month ago (used to smoke a pack a day if not more of "lights" or 0.6 nic) dropped down to 18 though still have a few juices at 24 and some 12. Most of the time 24 is sickening to me even though it was barely there the first few days, even 18 is too much sometimes..and thats within a month of quiting. Though it varies from one person to another, could take you 3 months or 3 years I guess, but at this rate it is possible. I actually just had a 14 hour flight with no vaping, and I did not feel the stress or the urge to vape/smoke that I used to have. So it seems to me that my symptoms of addiction are fading away surprisingly fast, and surprisngly easy...I just wish i brought less 24/18 with me and more 12 since nicotine is starting to become disgusting at high amounts to me.

The big question though is, if you can live with 0 nic, then why vape in the first place? Personally I always got satisfaction from blowing smoke...also some flavors are quiet good and reduce my craving for sweets, but on the other hand many people here care more about quiting or enjoy nicotine anyway, so people either quit vaping after a while or stay at 6 mg or lower. The ones who exclusively vape at 0 nicotine are a rare group...since, at the end of the day, most people are into smoking/vaping for the satisfying addicting chemical component, even if they enjoy the other things that come along with it...

I like to compare it to the dog meal and bell ring experience they taught us at school. The dog drools when the bell rings cause its assigned to the satisfying chemicals he recives with it (food). He might even start to love the sound of the bell, but will he continue to do so if he no longer receives food with it/wants food?

Short answer, i think it is very possible to go 0 nicotine, but pointless to most people since they either quit completely or keep taking a minimum amouny of nicotine for the satisfaction it gives even with the absence of the addiction.

mm yea its like vapin a fake ciggy ,,aka e-cig
You may call your PV a "fake ciggy" if it pleases you. I don't know anyone else who does though. It's not a cigarette, it's not a fake cigarette, it doesn't even slightly resemble a cigarette, it doesn't taste like a cigarette, it doesn't present a fire hazard ... well, you should get the point. Not a fake ciggy. It's better than a cigarette. Thank you.

One of the problems for me is when I smoke an analog, I know when to quit. The cig is down to the filter and I toss it and wait for the next craving. With ecigs I just keep on vaping. Especially when its a tasty juice. I can more/less use it like a pacifier. I think I actually have more nic in my system vaping than when I smoked analogs. Anyway... that may be just me. I would hope to get down to 0 nic but not in the cards for me at the moment.

My sister in law had the same complaint. "No sense of completion."
I chain smoked and now I chain vape, so that sense of completion isn't relevant to me personally. I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for you. Perhaps you could count how many puffs make a cigarette for you, and count down when you vape? I know some devices have a puff counter. Or you could time yourself. That would involve the willpower to put it down once you're done, though.

Me personally, I started at 24 and I am comfortable at 24 and really don't have any plans to try to drop lower in the foreseeable future. But I am in the process of dieting/getting into better shape so, one thing at a time.

I do at some point plan on cutting back to 0 nic, I have no intentions of quitting vaping tho, I enjoy it. There is a DIY'er in the forum who vapes 0 nic, that had posted on what lead to him going to 0, had nothing to do with planing or anything else, it was simply he forgot to add the nic into a batch of DIY and liked it.

So while I think at first the nic is important as we break through the addiction to the other 4000 chemicals in cigs, I don't think it is as major in the long run as what most of us think it is.

All those vegetables you listed have nicotine in them? Is it just a tiny amount?
