Which reminded me, I'm really picky now about coffee. I mean, I can actually tastes the coffee again instead of just the tons of creamer and stuff I used to use...

For me it is anything salty. I use to use salt pretty heavy but now I really don't like the way it effects things. I guess I forgot what chips really taste like. After eating chips and dip, I have to eat something sweet. Go figure.

Bleeding gums are not unusual... I've read many "reasons" that this is so common with vapers but for me it was simply changing to a softer toothbrush and keeping myself well hydrated. I still get them sometimes when I brush, but it wasn't as dramatic as it was the first few months I quite smoking and started vaping.

I suspect the argument that blood flow returns to normal (so, increases) to the mouth after you quit smoking is on the right track. I had the same problem too a bit and was at first a little freaked (I mean, ex-smoker "spitting" blood... you know?). That settled down after a while too.

A run of dry sinuses that could sometimes cause a bit of bloody, um, stuff expelled when ya blow your nose?

I remember weird odds and ends but most were fairly minor and passed in fairly short order. And the positives piled up faster. For one, I started sleeping like I hadn't slept in *years*. Wonderful, deep, deep sleep. Sometimes so much so, it was a little odd. No experience of time passing. I'd lay down and *ding* the sun was up. I felt rested and good but it was like throwing a light switch.

These days, it's good sleep. I'm back to feeling some time has passed and being vaguely aware of dreams (I rarely ever remember dreams... most of mine are so screwy, I don't really care to anyway :) ) but I sleep far better now than before. No way I'd want to go back.

The only really difficult one was my metabolism went into some weird rebellion at some point and I bounced between insomnia and "drowsy" for a while. I had one week it seemed I could not wake up no matter what I did and I could have just slept through the entire day. Then, wham, wide awake for hours. Not unpleasantly, just... wide awake.

No idea what that was about. It was the least fun of the things that happened and caused the most trouble. Have no idea what the cause was. Only that given there are some 4,000 (and counting) other chemicals in tobacco smoke, my metabolism was having a wild ride. The only thing in common between smoking and vaping is the nicotine. Basically, then, I quit over 4,000 chemicals. That was bound to do something.

Still. This was a billion times easier than any "cessation" thing I tried (and I tried so, so many) and the only one that got me to a year without going back to smoking and, now, not missing it. Took a while to get to the "don't miss it" stage (months I think) but I got there. Never managed that with "cessation" products (which, in my opinion and experience, are nothing but cruel jokes on smokers).

For myself, the great thing about vaping is the positives of leaving smoking piled up faster than the negatives of the side effects (there are, after all, tons of side effects from quitting smoking, we're not really talking side effects of vaping but, rather, side effects of quitting smoking). And I like vaping. Unlike, say, the gum. Which wasn't only horrible tasting but gave me severe jaw aches and mouth sores.

I just started vaping about 4 days ago so I am still new to this. I haven't smoked a cigarette since. The only thing I have noticed is I itch all the time. My husband started the same time I did and he hasn't had any itching. I feel like there is stuff crawling on me. I am not sure if it is the vapor or effects of no cigarettes. On the plus side, I have noticed that I feel like I can breath better.

It's not always easy to sort out. The "side effects" of quitting smoking make a mile long list. With thousands of chemicals in tobacco smoke... who can tell what did which?

That said, some folks do seem to have allergic reactions to VG and sometimes PG. Might be worth trying a 100% PG and 100% VG juice separately to see if there's a difference.

Also, vapers need to increase their water intake. You don't have to go overboard but PG and VG both "capture" moisture to make the vapor. Some of that is going to be drawn from you. Mild dehydration can make you feel itchy.

Apparently, so can aging I've discovered. I've dry patches and "crawly" feelings that started back even when I was still smoking. Middle age. Such a kidder. ;)

I'm beginning to get the sense of smell back, and it truly is a mixed blessing... there were a few household smells that I had been blissfully unaware of:/

I discovered I'd been blissfully driving past the county waste treatment plant without a clue.

Not. Any. More. I'm well aware of passing it now. Yippee?

BizzarroWorld dreams. Really strange stuff.

One thing I was really afraid of, was dreams -- when I tried to quit before, I always had intense dreams of smoking, when I first quit drinking 21 yrs ago, I dreamed I was drinking. But in 3 wks smoke-free, I've only had 2 "smoking dreams" -- in one, I was telling my cousins all about how I quit smoking using e-cigs, all the while I was fishing a real cigarette from the pack and then starting to light it up - and -- still in the dreams -- my husband is suddenly there, going 'what the hell are you doing?!?!' and I was like, oh, I don't do this anymore! :D but in another, I was smoking, and thinking, well I'll have to start all over again, all those smoke-free days just... up in smoke... and was naturally relieved to wake and find it was just a dream... :D

I went thru a few days of depression this past week, which maybe corresponds to the "3's" -- just hit 3 wks. Seem to be in a more stable frame of mind today, so maybe I'm ok again until the 3 months time-frame rolls around.

This one strikes me as weird; my lungs seem to be pretty much cleared out, all that constant hacking and hawking that goes with smoking has about 99% vanished (except for RIGHT after I first get up, but I have asthma, so it's pretty normal then), but now I feel like some congestion is just perpetually in my throat, on my vocal cords. I have to clear my throat constantly, but it's different, a dryer feel, than when I had to do this all the time as a smoker. Drinking water helps *somewhat* but not entirely. I suppose it's possible that it's just the pollen, the plum trees are all in bloom, and the redbuds (pink dogwoods) are starting to bloom, but I don't remember ever having this particularly-throat kind of problem before I quit smoking; maybe I just didn't notice it so much because the lung-congestion was so much worse than the throat? I dunno but it's really aggravating.

I don't really have cravings, so I don't think I'm particularly irritable, UNlike all the other times I tried to quit, before the miracle of e-cigs -- EXCEPT when some ignoramus says something stupid like "so when are you going to quit vaping?" or "you haven't really quit smoking, you're still doing THAT"... THEN, I turn into Carrie... not really, but I sure wish I did, so I could just decapitate them on the spot without lifting a finger. :D I don't think that's really a symptom of quitting smoking/starting vaping, though; I've ALWAYS hated stupid people. :D

I've been vaping for almost 2½ months, and the only real side effect I have had is very dry mouth, which is expected and easily fixed by drinking water. However another problem I have been having is I constantly have to clear my throat, and then spit whatever I cleared. I think this might also be fixed by drinking more water, but it hasn't helped yet...

Hi, I can't say I've ever had any bad side effects (so far) but I'm just intrigued to see if anyone else has through there time of vaping?

Here's a bad side effect for you. My pack a day Marlboro habit could've cost me some of my limbs. My right arm and leg were getting numb at the slightest raising or lowering of said limbs and this would happen within seconds. I would wake up from a night of sleep and couldn't feel half of my body. Not your normal numbing from sitting on your leg too long. You know when your doctor tells you to quit smoking or lose your limbs you'll make a decision real quick. My doctor is so insanely pleased about my progress that he is now quietly (due to political B.S) championing vaping as a better alternative then Chantix and other "regulated" methods. Pretty soon Phyllis Kahn and others are going to look ridiculous.

Sorry...rant over

If you smoked for many years (i.e., over ten), then your lungs could take months (maybe even more than 2.5) to gradually expel the build-up that cigarettes caused. That didn't happen to me, but several people I've talked to have reported it to be the case for them. Whatever's causing it, I hope it clears up soon for you.

I've been vaping a couple of months now, and I really thought I wasn't going to get the dreaded "vaper's tongue", but as of yesterday I did. I was really worried at first, thinking "How long is my favorite vape going to taste bland?" But, in a stroke of luck, I found a solution. I mistakenly picked up a carto that I thought had Halo Mystic in it, but it turned out to be HX3. HX3 is a flavor that, at first, wasn't my favorite, but it didn't taste particularly bad to me either. But this time ... YUK! I guess vaping menthol for two months tilted my tastes a bit.

But I'm thankful, because once I realized my error, I went ahead and took a couple more pulls of it, then I went back to my ADV menthol blend. And I could taste it again! Now I'm going to keep an HX3-filled carto with me at all times in case vaper's tongue makes a return.

It seems to come and go for me, if I'm hitting it too often; usually all I have to do to be able to taste it properly again is eat some little something; a chip or two, or a small piece of candy. Or if it's being really stubborn, I hit my eRoll which has peppermint in it, and that usually fixes it quick. But really I find that trying to restrain myself (fat chance of THAT!) is really the best way to NOT get it; if I wait a few minutes between puffs, I don't really notice any lessening of flavor/TH. Alternately, turning up the voltage to JUST below where it starts to taste burned, and it improves the throat hit tremendously.

Thanks for the response, and yes I was a smoker for almost 12 years before I switched to vaping in January. So I hope you are right and it's just my lungs still expelling all the crap from cigarettes.

This is the same problem I have, vocal cords coated that I have to clear, little to no coughing. I've had this ever since I started vaping.

I talk on the phone all day at work, and I do have issues with my voice staying strong all day but that was the case before I stopped smoking due to a cold. I have experienced a little dehydration, some headaches, THE COUGHING OF THE PHELGM, (yes, caps required, it has been epic), and a little tightness in the chest a couple of times.

But overall I feel a little better than I have in a while. Some is probably psychological for kicking that habit, time will tell. It's only been two weeks.

That's exactly what I mean, pretty much every time I go to speak (especially after not saying anything for awhile) my voice is raspy until I clear my throat.

After vaping for around 6 months I noticed my breathing was getting very labored and my chest always felt tight. I am not what you call a chain vaper so I assumed it was the PG that could be causing irritation. Switched to 100% VG and I don't have the problem anymore. That's really the only problem I had.

This right here.

I have always vaped 100% VG with Boba's Bounty, my ADV. I switched over recently to sample a new vendor without even taking this into consideration. Since then (It's been about a month), I can feel that tight chest irritation happening. Just PM'd the vendor's rep to send me 360mL of my favorite juices in 100VG instead of their default 50/50. Thanks for the subtle reminder :)
