FWIW...I dropped my 1300 Winder/Aro rig from about 4 1/2 feet onto asphalt today and nary a scratch on either of them. I was impressed. YMMV...

Yeah if that had been a PT, you would be ordering a new one. Don't get me wrong I like the way the PT looks as well, the bare glass just makes them less durable.

Since my long term plan is to collect about 20 total heads and then rebuild them from there on out, quality of the factory head concerns me less than the durability of the device itself. I just find that my rebuilt coils are better than any factory coils on any replaceable head device. Of course this is my own personal plan and philosophy so it may not be for everybody.
That's all dandy for you and anyone who has the time & ability to rebuild coils (I hope to get there one day), but in the meantime, for the rest of us, the coil is everything, and I've had several in a row that were giving dry/burnt hits from the get-go, even after shaking out the air bubbles. Not good, so I'm pretty much back with mt EVODs, which are much more reliable, and produce better (more concentrated) flavor due to the smaller air volume. I think these are beautiful tanks, and I really want them to work for me, but without good coils, it's not going to happen.

I just discovered these tanks at Discount Vapers and ordered one to try out. Unfortunately, I tried it after spending $23 on a ProTank II that leaks, gurgles and pops (although thanks to ECF I found that using thicker juice and messing around with the flavor wicks clears most of that up) constantly. Anyway, when I discovered these I wanted one in every color. I am a noob who went from one plastic vivi nova to wanting many, many tanks to be able to switch out flavors. Can't do that at $23 a pop (at least not on my budget) Anyway - this tank preserves the beautiful flavor of pyrex tanks while being more economical, smaller and more durable. The coils/(heads?) are now available at DV as well. I know someone mentioned that they don't take Kanger coils, but my ProTank now has a Aro coil on it and is working fine. I loved the tank and value so much - I went straight back and bought one in every color! Yay! Flavor freedom!

Yup, the Kanger coils don't fit in the Aro, but the Aro coils work great in the Protanks. The Aro's are great tanks for exactly the reasons you stated... pyrex, cheap, and work great, so nice to have a handful stocked with different flavors to easily switch between them. The PT2 is still my favorite device (with Aro head and cotton wicking), but just like you, wasn't willing to buy a handful of PT2s. It's also kind of nice to go between the Aros and PT2 (and the IGO-L dripper for NETs). :D What's not to like? :)

I don't know, maybe it's your avatar. Sorta like I felt all too often since I started.

I have a great little vape that's really helped by filling in while I fiddled with all the stuff that wasn't hangin' with one tank or another. It's called The Forge, a little Nimbus-like 17mm dripper, but better, that sits perfectly on a Magneto or other 22mm mod. And it's as common as butter.

What's great about it is how easy this single-dual coil is to rebuild. I mean easy. A big +, the cap has six air-holes in varying size so you can dial up the airflow I mean perfectly for an outstanding vape. Great vapor production.

Making a coil for a Kanger or similar is a pain. It's not the coil; it's the installation. Easier once you get the mechanics right but still futz-y to do. Inside of 10 mins you can build a 28 ga. 10/9 wind, torch/squeeze/quench it to your hearts delight and have it screwed down in this little honey. A tuft of cotton, don't fill it, don't starve it, and you're good to go. It washes and dries out in a minute. A good dry burn on the coil element with a bit of fresh cotton and you're back to vape heaven. The tanks can wait for later.

I've seen pic's of the folks with a dozen tanks and armies more of assembled heads. Great, and I'm sure they're all proud of themselves. Neither you nor I have the time to assemble that armada.

Sooner or later you gotta build the coil. Just put it in something that works.

Just sayin'.

:)

p.s. Don't forget to check your resistance! Use fuses, or a kick and IMR batt's! Real important on a mech. Runaways aren't fun.

Hubby brought one of these home today as a surprise for me, the first thing I did was try to replace the head with a Protank one (yes, I'm a Kanger fangirl). I'm not a big fan of metal tips, either. He's returning it tomorrow.

Problem is - the salesman at the B&M told hubby that this was a evod v2. *facepalm*

Update - they just put this on their Facebook page...

Hubby brought me an ARO BCC from the swap meet and I'm impressed. I can see the window better than in EVODs and the draw is tighter. My only problem is the head is not marked showing the ohms. When you order a box or replacements are those marked? Ohms engraving on the heads is just a feature I appreciate for more ease of use... but, I like the ARO enough and want to get the Pyrex one so will work around it if I have to. Just curious.

I asked a similar question a few months ago. Here's a link to the thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/486482-where-ohm-stamp-skoktech-aro-heads.html

I buy my Aro heads at the local vape shop and they are sold individually. I have never purchased a box of them but apparently the boxes are labelled with the ohm rating but the heads inside the boxes are not.

Since I started that thread I have purchased an MVP2 which has an ohm reader on it. All of the heads I have purchased at the local vape shop have been 2.4ohms. If I happen to get something different on a future purchase I will adapt because like you, I'm a big fan of the SmokTech Aro. Mine are the Pyrex versions and I've been using them exclusively since I started that thread. I haven't had the desire to try anything else. Not yet anyway.
