Anyone have problems vaping menthol?

So I pretty much never smoked menthols.
I had been vaping for over 6 years and never touched menthol liquids.

Then I went to zero nicotine and the lack of throat hit was killing me.
So I decided to start using menthol-based liquids.

After awhile using the menthol I concluded that it was "burning" my lungs.
This "burning" sensation was getting progressively worse.

I switched over to mint-based liquids and the problem has slowly gone away.

I have never heard of this phenomenon being mentioned on the forum.
But then I never venture into this part of the forum either.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Without knowing exactly what liquids you were using and what was in them there's not much to go by?

It was Halo Menthol Ice.

Now instead I'm using Halo Kringle's Kurse and Halo Mystic.
Halo Kringle's Kurse = peppermint
Halo Mystic = spearmint

Menthol e liquid doesn't agree with me either. The mints are OK. I used to be a heavy smoker and did menthols for quite a while. They did make me cough more. I know someone who smoked menthols for almost 50 years, and had to switch to non menthol.
Menthol isn't really a benign ingredient. It's used as a counter irritant in muscle rubs, and also is used in some products to clear airways. Maybe you just have a sensitivity to it in general.

I haven't heard about what you've experienced before DC. I don't know how long you smoked for but maybe there's some smoking damage to your lungs that gets exacerbated by the menthol? I have used Halo's menthol ice as well (love it) - there is a LOT of menthol in there.

I am coming up on 6 years in October and have used or added menthol to almost everything I vape. I have not had any issues at all because of the menthol, but that's just me. Everyone's experience is different.

@DC2 I don't know if you have watched this doco? I don't remember where but there was a section where they found some issues with mint or menthol flavorings causing irritation.
